To be honest... I dont even see what the problem is.
*If a Black NFL player got arrested by cops ahead of the Superbowl, nobody in the news media would even doubt the cops did anything wrong.*
*If a Black NBA player got arrested by cops ahead of Game 7 of the NBA Finals, nobody in the news media would even bat an eye lid, and the assumption would be there is a good reason for his arrest.*

Such a farce to be charged with second degree assault of a police officer when it is the peace officer who latches himself upon the car and Scottie subsequently stops out of surprise. I don't know what world you live in but if you get charged with felony assault on a police officer, you don't get out in an hour, you don't post bail, or even get in front of a judge to get bail set, at 7AM, they realized who he was when he got there, processed him as quickly as possible because they couldn't say "Oh Sorry Scottie", but they know they're going to have to answer for this cop. I'd put money on the fact this goes away quietly with some undisclosed agreement and the whole thing is forgotten.

That's why they delayed the start. It wasn't because of whether it was because they knew that there was a problem with all the other golfers trying to get in in the coming hour or so. So they delayed the start a couple hours anyway. It wasn't due to the weather

This incident is a misunderstanding as the Bay of Tonkin Incident was a misunderstanding.
The cop took whatever the golfer did as a disrespect of his authority, so he flung a collection of false charges on him to see what would stick.

I've been in similar situation. It can be very confusing. It's dark and raining. Bright lights flashing everywhere. Your access and vehicle have been authorized to enter the area. One cop yells and points in one direction another cop yells and points in the other direction. You patiently proceed slowly thinking you have been directed properly trying to navigate around trouble... Then some jerk cop with a inferiority complex absolutely looses his mind and treats you like an infant because you didn't understand his confusing directions and he's in charge. After all, he's the self appointed god of the traffic universe. The fact is some cops are just jerks and don't consider that an innocent person can get in a confusing situation. Sheff wasn't trying to break the law, he was just confused and the cop was an butthole... You can tell by the video of the cop yelling at the reporter that he was a jerk and wasn't going to listen to any reason. Most cops are nice but some are just ass hats...

Does no one communicate in this world anymore? Traffic investigation with a fatality is immediate priority number one. Did Schefler make any attempt at any time to communicate at all? I don't care if it's a security guard or police. NOW to the police. What the heck makes you think you can assault a human being for a minor traffic infraction? I'm more than fed up with excessive use of force. From Jeff Darlington's eyewitness account, was there ANY indication of combative behavior or assault of a police officer? Not from what Darlington told us. I'm quite frankly disappointed in both sides.

Having served in public safety for over 25 years, I know the importance of securing the scene of an accident involving a fatality until the investigation is complete. Unless you were involved in the investigation, no one enters the scene and risk contamination, destroying evidence, etc. What actually happened between Scheffler and the police, only they really know the truth. I'd rather not speculate. Could be as simple as a lack of communication or miscommunication. I suspect there'll be apologies by everyone involved and possibly a donation made by Scheffler, especially if he wins.

None of what's being said by those who are defending Scheffler's conduct, matters to the police. The police were doing their jobs at the scene of a fatal accident. Nothing against Scheffler but his tee time is not the police problem or concern. The police are not obligated to allow anyone to drive through the scene of an accident especially one where there has been a fatality. Scheffler's needs as far as getting to practice before his tee time is not the cops problem...at all. The fact that Scheffler is the top ranked golfer in the PGA is of no concern to the police. The fact that there is a Major golf tournament currently going on is not a concern of the police either. The concern of the police at 6:am on that day was that a pedestrian who apparently was working at the golf tournament and was walking to the golf course in a crosswalk was hit by a bus and killed. Traffic was stopped for a good reason. Scheffler could have simply waited a few minutes, roll down his car window, call over one of the police officers, identify himself, explain his situation and work it out with the police. But that was not his choice. Instead Scheffler decided to disobey a police order to remain stopped and wait. I doesn't matter if Scheffler didn't know that the person in the yellow safety vest was a police officer. That's not the cops problem that's Scheffler's problem. I have nothing against Scheffler and he's a very good professional golfer and apparently he's a devoted Christian as he's stated but, that's not the point. Oh certainly this golf tournament would not be as good or entertaining if Scheffler missed his tee time. But he had a three hour wait before he was scheduled to tee off. Scheffler could have been more patient and probably would have been able to work it out with the police if he had taken his time to explain who he was and what he needed to do. But instead he put his car in drive and drove forward...that's not the police fault that's Scheffler's fault. So instead of warming up and hitting practice balls, he ended up "stretching" in a jail cell, because of his foolish decision to drive away when instructed not to by the police. Yeah Scheffler f'd up it's his own fault...period.

Why didn't the golfer just "comply" he disobeyed a direct command and then proceeded to go right thru a deadly accident and drag an officer injuring him. Yet he makes it back for tee time REALLY 😮

There were two different squads of Louisville Police Dept., 1 group covering a tragic, completely separate accident and 1 group handling all the PGA Championship, the Police handling Tour Traffic gave implicit instructions to Players and Officials in Tournament in marked cars to follow them, ass they always do. Effectively escorting them around traffic in all traffic conditions, not just bottlenecks, accidents and back-ups. All traffic. It's done at all PGA & Major Championships and other Major Sporting Events as well as Presidents and Popes, Rock Stars et al. Has been done this way for 30+ years in Golf. The Tournament and the Louisville, Police/City Traffic have a Dedicated Lane for this Official Tournament traffic. Obviously that lack of communication between LPD caused the incident. Louisville/Valhalla Golf Club will have to wait, if ever to Host another (and other Events) Majors. A loss resulting of --$$10mms of revenue to the Louisville area. The Detective "Dobie" Gillis was part of the accident squad. Ironically the LPD did give Scottie an Escort back to the Tournament so he could make his new Tee time which was postponed for 90 minutes for the whole Field...more $$ snafu and loss. There were Black Cops involved in the apprehension of the fleeing alleged felon, Scottie Scheffler.
