This was the Angels at Latrobe university in 1979 live. Excellent sound from when they were at their peak with their main original line up. Am I ever gonna see your face again is a classic. This performance is early so you don't get the crowd with the "no way, get fkd fck off chant but it gives you a real representation of what they were like in their prime. czcams.com/video/DLZl6vgT7HM/video.html

You _can't_ not think Angels and their main anthem "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again", you especially need to check out the official live version of that. Any time the line is sung the audience can't resist the response chant; *"no way, get fucked, fuck off!"* 🤙

Only ever listen to the live version, the first time they played Mt Isa concert, they played the vanilla standard version, the “no way, get fucked, fuck off” was sung loud by the miners etc in the crowd. Then it became the new version.

The more you hear The Angels the more you're going to love them. Take a Long Line, No Secrets, Mr Damage, Straight Jacket, No Exit, Coming Down and Marseille are just some of their songs you should check out. Another great early Aussie rocker is Billy Thorpe.
He was an idol of the boys from ACDC. If you have a look at Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs doing 'Mama' live on GTK and 'Most People I Know Think that I'm Crazy' (live) you can hear the influence he had on them.

Doc Neeson tells a story about how they toured the US with the Kinks as the supporting band back in the 80's. As the tour progressed the crowds were wanting longer encores. Ray Davies of the Kinks started to put tape on the floor of the stage where Doc go past (he had a passion for diving off the stage into the crowd), but still the crowds wanted more. So the volume was cut in half and then the light show was stopped but still the crowds wanted more. Then on the last night of the tour they were to play at Madison Square Garden, the rumours were around there were to be several music bigwigs turning up, but the final blow came when Ray Davies cut them from the final show. Doc teared up telling this story, that's how much it affected him. They are adored by the Australian public, and to this day at the University of Queensland, when "Will I ever see your face again" is played at the bar, Males are allowed to jump on the table and pull their pants down to their ankles and sing to this song. It is written in the bylaws.

ok, to be fair I grew up with Aussie pub rock. But absolutely love your reaction. First real gig I went to was with my best mate to the angels live line gig. We were both under age, but determined. And we did, such an amazing feeling, that will last more than my lifetime. Doc was such an amazing front man, and the band was brilliant. In resent old life have meet the Brewster brothers a few times. But nothing will ever get close to the energy of the Angels playing live.

I read somewhere this song was banned in the US due to the line about "there comes a time in a young girls life when she becomes a woman"".
Another fun fact. The Angels agreed to pay royalties to Status Quo due to similaritis between Am I ever gonna see your face again, and Status Quos Lonely night. Listen to it on youtube and compare the 2 songs. I think Staus Quo had a case to sue, but apparently the 2 bands were friends and aggreed on royalties instead of a court case

I grew up listening to a lot of Aussie rock as well English and American rock. I had the honour in my mid twenties to back up The Angels in Kalgoorlie W.A, with the band I was playing Bass for. It was an awesome experience and that night we had to get a fill in drummer who was an absolute genius and made us sound so good. He was so good we sacked the other drummer.
