The part that was a slideshow wasn’t in the the manga .the studio added it to make the episode flow better.check yo facts

The 'slide show' in the manga was a blank page with some text and a cut to when deku busted into the room

I think it's fair for people to want it to be a fight scene but the scene was obviously meant to be a last stand, not a fight, and in order to keep the image of the knight in shining armor Mirio is, they chose to use a slideshow to give us glimpses into how hard he's trying to protect Eri which I totally agree with in this instance. That said, this was very obviously not a "fight scene" but rather a "last stand scene" if that makes sense, its purpose is to move you, not to get you hyped up. They could also be cheap skates (idk I don't work there) but I think it worked wonderfully here.
