Sony folks I know (one top Sony Manager, and some Sony SPS folks) have apologized and admitted to me there are some real issues with the firmware updates , and NO it isn't that all folks around the world with update problems have other hardware issues. Why do folks not believe it is the firmware, when even Sony admits the issues around the world. Why do you think there have quickly been V2.0; V2.01, V 2.02 updates. Sony has to go back to the drawing board with the coding in these updates, and their download inconsistencies . Know the facts @johngadsby3881 and @DavidSchamis, not everyone has been as fortunate as you. . Many working pros like PM-R are NOT updating their working A1 for good reasons. Cheers
I have had the same experience. I can’t explain or understand why so many owners actually had issues, but I fortunately had a great experience. I upgraded to the brand new v2.02 a few days ago and learned it’s more of a fix for some issue with the 200-600 G. I use mine but didn’t notice any issues. I’ll test it tomorrow. Anyway it’s good to see that others have had a good experience with the firmware updates.
I'm still at 1.32 myself, when I heard moving forward meant having to redo all your settings I figured I'll wait until I have time to go through that process. Sort of glad I was busy because now seeing the issues people are having I'll stick with 1.32 until they resolve these issues (hopefully). Love my A1, I use it all the time, the only thing I'd really want is pre-capture, that'd be game changing for a lot of what I do when I see the moment I want only to find I missed it by a fraction of a second. Hoping pre-capture makes it into some higher megapixel models.

A few days ago, I updated my A1's from 1.32-1.35- 2.01, then using the card to 2.02. All working fine, and as read on Sony website I had to re-setup the camera from scratch. @@MarkusGebhard I don't mind the dial, but i wish there was also an option to change the drive mode in the rear dial/ menu/fn. It's odd its been blanked out in the Fn. Let's hope it is put back in the Creator's App eventually.

Hello, up until 2 days ago I was on firmware 1.32. I have two A1’s so I decided to try an update one of the two. Biggest issue was adding the M1 based Mac drivers Sony needs but after installing that I did 1.32 -> 1.35 then 1.35 -> 2.01 and finally 2.01 -> 2.02 via the card approach and every step went smoothly. I then re setup all My Menus and configuration and saved a new CAMSET to my CFexpress Type A card. After two days of checking things out I then took on my second A1 body and followed the same steps and all went smoothly again. The first A1 I tried was a used copy bought in late 2022. The second one was my original A1 bought new in late 2021 directly from B&H. Took my new CAMSET I saved and loaded onto the second body. So I’m good to go and now I will try and tackle my lens firmware upgrades. Just thought I would share my experience. Take care.
thanks so much Steven. I think the difference between us is that you must be much smarter than I am regarding diving into the security settings for Mac. I'm always terrified doing that. I literally ordered a refurbed Mini PC yesterday from Amazon to hopefully make my life easier from now on with these updates. I'm happy that it all worked well for you!!!
@@PMRTV I also own an Intel based IMac (dual i9) and an older Mac Mini with i7 that is Intel based and neither of those needed any driver updates. Typically I have used those to avoid these type of issues but I was in a location where I only had my M1 MacBook Air so I bit the bullet and struggled through the driver update. If you need help let me know. Take care.
One additional follow-up. I just updated the firmware in my FE 200-600mm G from V2 to V3 and that appears to still require a USB-C attachment to a computer just like Sony’s older camera software. So for Macs with the new Mx Apple processors I guess you need to get the security driver installed. FYI.
I was really annoyed at how lame was the V2 firmware after such a long wait and high expectations, that I never bothered updating. Glad I am still at V1.32 thank God.

Thanks for the video. I’ve been rather confused about all the frustrations I’ve read about. I updated the same day for the 2 part firmware update. It worked well. I didn’t notice any issues. My only frustration was I wasn’t able to use a CAMSET type update for my settings but I carefully recorded my personal settings prior to the update. I’m now running the 2.02 upgrade and it works perfectly. There are some impressive features and new settings that I really like. I, like every A1 owner, was disappointed that the new ai AF tracking system couldn’t be upgraded. I may keep my A1 as a second body once the new A1ii arrives. To be perfectly honest, as good as the other camera makers have tried, there’s simply no other camera body presently that can do what the A1 is capable of doing.
