    I’m impressed. Lots of skills exhibited, most of them between two ears. Nice job.

    If I could offer just one suggestion.. Adding 2 jacks in the back will allow permit loading heavy things up the ramp without doing the "trailer dance" and adding one at the hoist will keep from twisting the trailer and putting unnecessary stress on your welding. Good looking project! I hope you and your kids get years n years of good service out of it. 😎

      Hey Michael, both great suggestions. I actually have the old rusty triangular leveling jacks from the trailer when it was a camper that I’ve been putting under the back corners for that very purpose. I thought about building some in but, well, time was of the essence!

    I like the hoist!
    I almost hit a trailer being towed behind a pickup pulling out into the road one night, no reflectors or lights that could be seen from the side of the trailer until it showed up in my headlights. Cheap thrills.

      Lol yeah there was no way to smoothly segue that and still get it done in a timely manner

    I'm surprised to see that a hole saw worked better than you expected. I needed to cut 6 oval light holes for the flatbed of my truck with the same Milwaukee dozer bits. I think it took all afternoon. It was quarter-inch plate however. Also, I really hate to be a safety sally, but it's hard for me to watch you use a cutting wheel on your grinder without the guard, last summer I had a cutting wheel explode, and the shards went everywhere, I didn't get hurt but I've seen videos of wheels embedding themselves deep into people. Since then I've used my guard.

      @ZackOfAllTrades  Před 3 lety

      Yeah that’s a point well taken and something I always wince a bit about because I had a friend whose wheel came apart. Probably worth putting the guard back on for all but the rare occasion where it needs to fit in somewhere.
      About the “hole dozer” Although the steel is nowhere near 1/4 plat I truly was amazed with how well it worked, just throwin chips!!

    Love the Lockheed shirt.
    Are you guys making the leap to the (northern ? Mountain?) Property?
    BTW damn its good to have you back regularly. 👊

      Hey Travis, thanks a lot for that. That’s very kind of you to say.
      My wife is really good at birthday presents :)
      And about the other thing...🏔🌲

    Just what did you put in that coffee, mate?
    Things went full bore after that! 😆
    Amazing job all around, and how lucky were you not to have been fitting the lights when the gate blew down, that could have been all kinds of bat shit crazy bad! 😳
    That bonus was definitely a game changer bonus. 👍🏽

    Time will tell how good your hoist idea is. Then you enclose it, is there a side panel you can remove to be able to use the hoist.

    • @ZackOfAllTrades
      @ZackOfAllTrades  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey scruffy, I hope it’ll work out well but if not I’ll re-engineer it. I hadn’t really planned on using the hoist in conjunction with it being enclosed although I can see how that could be beneficial

    I love how the trailer has turned out so far, and I can't wait to see what else you are going to do with it. Also, just wanted to mention that the home made grommets where amazing and I had never seen anyone do that.

    I think harping on your weld is pointless as you already know there is room for improvement, however, I need to see that ramp hold a vehicle. I don't believe it will. Prove me wrong please

    how long do you think that plywood is gonna last in rainy weather

  • @wiljam1968

    I’ve found it’s best to at the very least remove the hole saw from the arbor, drill the hole with the pilot bit and then put the hole saw back on the arbor before you make the full size hole. Whenever the pilot bit breaks through the metal, the hole saw digs in, sometimes it breaks the pilot bit, some times you get wrapped around the drill when the hole saw digs in.

    That ramp is going to cause an air dam, increasing fuel consumption. It's better to use detatchable ramps.

    • @ZackOfAllTrades
      @ZackOfAllTrades  Před 2 lety

      That’s the truth! I watched my instantaneous MPG indicate 6MPG and then momentarily 4. Not while accelerating, but traveling highway speeds on a long gradual hill jeeesh!
      Check out my latest video, I finally got the ramp off and will likely use removable ramps of some sort from now on. The previous ramp did work well though when the trailer was enclosed, it served as both ramp and rear door.
      Thanks for the comment!

    Man I’ve been way overpaying for grommets.

  • @BCElginTex

    Trailer looks great. I don't have the engineering mind enough to imagine how the engine lift is going to work with the sides. Are the sides removable? The suspense is already killing me.
