My wife and I purchased our first house on 0.25 acres of property 3 years ago. We like experimenting with microclimates in Central FL, high-density planting, and showing others what is possible to do on a small piece of land. The last few years have been spent experimenting and developing our nursery FloraFruits to share plants we love with the public. We are not re-sellers or a large wholesale nursery, so our prices are at the point we think is fair. We like to grow exotic fruiting species as well as our beloved favorites like mangoes. We intend to sell most grafted 3 gallon trees for 30$, including mangoes for which we have over 30 varieties and counting. In a few years, we will be selling fresh mangoes to Central Floridians who do not want to make the drive to South Florida. Thank you for your interest!

We bought a home in lakeland last March. Have a mango and fig tree in pots im gonna put in the ground next spring. 2 pineapple plants too. 2 banana trees in the ground for about 2 months now. Found a peanut plant the squirrels must of planted in my yard, so now thats in a pot growing..lol. just discovered one of the 5 peach seeds i started propagating 3 months ago has sprouted, so that's in a pot now...

Wish we were neighbors man. This stuff is all I want to do all day. Iâm in 9b over in East Phoenix. I have 70 trees on 9800 sqft (less than 1/4 acre). Our soil is hard and itâs even dryer here - extra challenging but doable.

I have 94 trees, all in the ground, plus other plants om .21 acres in Palm Bay, FL zone 9B. My lychee from seed is doing well but not the Brewster that I bought from a nursery 8 years ago. I need to get a sweetheart. They taste very good & have smaller seeds.

You got a lot of plants and still have plenty of space for more and ground cover likes sweet potatoes (different types). Very beautiful plants/yard. I am envy, keep planting its away of staying out of trouble and being careful â¤â¤â¤

Great points on growing in shade. White Sapote is another one that seems to much better in the Florida shade vs full sun.
Hmm interesting.. Iâve seen very large white sapotes that have never produced here in 9B.
@@floridafreeliving , some white sapotes produce male and female flowers on separate trees so they need cross pollination. Others will self pollinate.
Truly incredible. I've found the same with most trees preferring shade to Florida full-sun. My trials in a very shaded area have shown to produce better, more productive plants than our full sun locations on our property. I wish I had the microclimate to grow more Mangos. He's got quite the collection.

I'm in Winter Haven too. I have 7 mango varieties, 2 longan trees, 1 sugar apple, 1 sapodilla, and 1 sweetheart lychee.
Thanks for posting. Im in Orlando near downtown and grow many of the same fruits. I always hear from folks in South Florida that they don't believe that we can grow so many tropicals. People still pay attention to the old 2012 hardiness zone map, but I feel confident that when the next edition of the map is published, Orlando will be solidly zone 10 thanks to climate change. When I was a kid in Orlando, it was impossible to grow mangos here: our winters were just too cold. 50 years later mangos, and far more tropical trees, are common.

@@KawakebAstra The USDA has already published an interim hardiness zone map that shows zone 10 extending into Orange County, Florida. Climate change is real.
@@gordonspears6320 The earth spins about 1k mph. It orbits the sun at about 67k mph. We're being dragged along by the sun as it orbits the Milky Way Galaxy at around 250k mph. When you figure in the Milankovic cycles, the fact we're coming out of an ice age etc, of COURSE climate change is real. Now if you want say it's anthropologic, that's a bunch of politicized horse shit that the elites are exploiting to get you to part with your cash and freedom.

Amazing, I am in North Florida and while I have mango and avocados that are 3 years old, they die out every winter and come back in the spring. I am still hoping that they keep maturing and maybe some day âŚ..my coconuts did not like our zone, but wild blackberries and blueberries love it.
Have you spotted other mango trees in your area? Do you have any peaches/plums?
@@floridafreeliving yes to several kinds of stone fruit, and I really havenât seen any but I am rural. I have avocados and mangoes, as well as many other fruit seedings, because I am that person that makes sure all fruit pits or seeds are saved and either put in a baggie in the refrigerator for stratification or a dig a hole. Thanks to that I also have grape vines, loquats, Jack fruit, paw paw, citrus, tamarindâŚ. And while many will not survive my winters, I am hoping that someday I have enough trees to create a microclimate.
Maybe check into the Neelum/Neelam mango variety or the Mallika. They are both cold hardy into the 20's. Maybe with some cover they would stay alive for you up there.

You have some amazing plants, Wax Jambu fruits very well along the coast of S. CA. If tempertures get below 35, Just cover with a blanket until it becomes strong enough

I love you for this. I think Florida is GREAT for most fruit trees (up to central Florida) even with a few freezes in the winter up around Orlando and north. So you may have to cover your tree a few times in the winter.. So what? Is a beautiful coconut tree or mango tree 10 months out of the year not worth it!?? đ
We love growing in Central FL! One of the few places where you can grow temperate and tropical species successfully.
Oh yea mangos are everywhere all the way up to at least north lakeland. Maybe even farther idk i dont go north of lakeland.

Which ones have produced fruits so far? Jackfruit trees usually grow very large before fruiting here and their fruits are huge.

P.S.: I technically live in Plant City now, but I still own the spot in WH & tend my mother's property in Haines City/Lake Alfred.
My land is in Haines City .27 acres within I'm building a food forest.
I tried to grow Lychees, but Air Layers dont have the root struture and as say a seedling or grafted tree in Hard Clay soil. All my Lychees died from the soil, never grew an inch

Have you ever tried to grow PawPaws (Asimina triloba)
Hi again, instead off pruning them and waste the good branches. Would you air layer them and then cut them when they develop with good roots. I will buy them from you. I love to have them in my 0.12ac yard.

What can you say about 270 mango trees and 30 avocado trees and 3 Sweetheart lychee trees all on a 1/2 acre lot with a big house with a pool and patio. It went well! Mangos are flowering now (2 months later than last year) after all the cold is gone.
