Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

We celebrated 53 years of marriage this past week. Worth it? ABSOLUTELY. Has it been "for better and for worse?" ABSOLUTELY. Would I do it again with the same person? ABSOLUTELY.
Congratulations đ
We celebrated our 30th anniversary. Congrats to you and yours for many more years of happy bliss.
Canning is great, but it takes up so much room. I like dehydrating. Especially for carrots onions mushrooms herbs cabbage.
Congrats! We're at 45 years
Aww congratulations đ„ł just beautiful â€ïžâ€ïž
I'm an American, but I want to say Canada is SOOO BEAUTIFUL, and Canadians are such wonderful people
Bee that blue dress you have on is so pretty. It looks good on you. I'm so glad you guys finally got your water tank.đđ
That dress is very becoming on you! The blue color is your color!
I love it too
Ditto
That dress is fab on you Bee!
I agree.
Yes, marriage is well worth it. My husband of 50 years passed away 4 days ago. I cherish every day we had together. I miss him terribly. We met in Australia, where I'm from, and he returned to the US with me. We'd been married 3 years by then.
So sorry to hear that Norma â€ïž
I am sorry to hear of your loss. I hope you have some kind friends around you.
â€ïž
So sorry for your loss Norma â€ïž
We have been married 44 yrs. And together for 8 yrs before that .. one thing to consider is if either of you end up in hospital you may not be able to either get information or make decisions for the other if you arenât married .. that was a major part of our decision to get married .. also canât wait to hear the life changing thing .. my first thought was starlink. That sounds amazing to me .. and would make it so easy to up,pad videos and to download so much content also .. now Iâm sitting on the edge of my chair to see if thatâs it..
We will have been married 57 years in July, was it worth it. Absolutely, there have been ups & downs but I donât regret marrying, I was just 18 & my husband was twenty raised two daughters & have always farmed, still farm but only about 300 acres. Love your videos & thanks for sharing your journey with us.
It will be 56 years in December. We were very young when we married but have supported each other as we became professionals, raised two wonderful children, and lived in many interesting places. I wouldnât trade one moment of our life together. So yes, it is worth it!
Sounds very like our journey, except we're older. WeII said.
When you visit Canada's west coast... Victoria, Chemanus murals, Cathedral Grove, Tofino, Longbeach... Whale watching... So much to do... So little time! Have fun!
A donkey would be great, but they love having a companion, so think about rehoming two that are pals already â€ïž
It could be with the goats and be ok.
When you get to canning you might want to consider a root cellar or as they call them in other places a dugout. It's a small room under ground that stays at a constant cool temp. The old timers, including my Granny, stored all her canning goods in her root cellar. When I was young I loved to go down and get canned things for Granny, when it was 90 outside it was always a cool 56 in the cellar. Grand Dad built it by digging a hole in the ground, putting logs on all 4 sides then putting on a flat roof with a trap door that open up. He build stairs to go down and made sure he mudded the cracks so it would stay cool. The farm is gone, but that root cellar remains and is still in use.
Well, that was very interesting and I have just two things to comment onâŠlol
One, I certainly hope itâs your forever home, especially when you think of all the work youâve put into it. And itâs certainly big enough, unless you plan to have a pile of kiddies.
and, two, was hoping to see my question answered and that is about beekeeping and producing your own honey. With all those beautiful wildflowers I bet you could have a very happy hive full of active producers.
You appear to have an idyllic life but to all of us who have seen you through it, youâve certainly earned it đ
That would be amazing if they could do that!
Hi Bea, We finally got married after 12 years together for "bureaucratic reasons". Back then, it wasn't as easy as it is today to live as an unmarried couple...we were way ahead of our times. We each kept our own names as well. I have to admit that being married massively reduced the bureaucratic hassles. We've been together now for 47 years. I hope the two of you enjoy a long life together. Love to you both. Suzi
It's standard for people to keep their names when getting married in Portugal so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle for them :) A bit sad that bureaucracy demands marriage to believe people are committed to each other, but alas, I hope everything gets solved easily ^^ Congrats on your 47 years!
We cant get married for burocratic reasons... Just the opposite
Bea, you look absolutely gorgeous in that dress! I love it! Re: Canada - one of the best drives Iâve ever done was between Vancouver and Whistler. I think itâs called the Sea-to-Sky Highway? Beautiful views!!
I see a new project in store . You will see the need to dig a cold storage for all the produce from your garden âșïž
Yes you should get married! We have known each other for 36 years, been together for 32 years & we've been married for 26 years.
Hello đ how are you doing?
My husband and I have been together nearly 27 years married 25 of them and yes would definitely do it again, I definitely think we are people who try harder when committed to each other legally, some find it too easy to walk away..... I Love hearing the exceptions like you and Theo ... God Bless all your endeavours đ
Hello đ how are you doing?
Just celebrated 50 yrs of marriage....the only positive reason is that if one of us should fall ill, we are allowed to be an advocate if our spouse is hospitalized. Thanks for the Q & A.
I lost my husband to cancer 8 months ago. Without being married, his care during his illness, and then trying to get my widowhood organized would be even more difficult. Itâs not about the paper otherwise, but the commitment.
đšđŠ So happy to hear you will be in Alberta and BC! The Sunshine Coast, one ferry north of Vancouver, has AMAZING wildlife, an incredible First Nations Community, Artists, Musicians, Authors, Hiking, Sailing, Kayaking, Beachcombing, farmerâs markets, festivals and GREAT FOOD!!! Would be happy to send you more info â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžMaureen. Victoria BCđšđŠ
Been married 9 years, and I've struggled with health issues and there have been times where my spouse has had to advocate for me and I think for bureaucratic reasons that has made it easier in some ways for my spouse to do so for me when I haven't been in a state where I could advocate for myself.
Where there is a will...there is a way. Especially when two are as delightful as Bea and Theo at their handcrafted Portugal Stonehouse Homestead. đ
So sorry to hear about Rizzo. It was great to see the two of you continuing on and enjoying yourselves. Bee I like your dress you looked really lovely and happy and smiling. As always wishing you the best thank you for sharing your journey.
â€đđŠđđșđđŁđđ»
I would consider building a roof over the tank. Shure hope you are installing your solar soon. There is going to be a shortage of equipment.
When I got married I felt a spiritual peace that I didn't expect. Bonus!
Trust me⊠get married and celebrate your love for each otherâ€ïž
Check out a freeze dryer for preserving food. Food freeze dried will keep for 20 years without losing nutrition! Love your channel! By the way, my sweetheart and I were married for almost 58 years before he passed away last December. I miss him so very much!
WOW! Ladies yâall have clocked Golden anniversaries all around! â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž clearly love is still alive! Wishing you all many more years together!
Middle of night here , canât sleep and what pops up , YOU GUYS. awesome!! Likeâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Love that you might get a donkey or two!đ Animals need same species companions ... so happy for the goats!âŁ
Donkeys are wonderful creatures..and they get so attached to you ..when you come back home they go to making their sounds of happiness. đđżđ
Being together means more than having a bit of paper that says you should be...
I was married for 45 years to my soulmate/best friend. He passed away 2 years ago. For us it was about security, faith and heritage. Everyone has their own story and journey. Iâm happy to hear you are coming to Canada. I live in Nanaimo BC. So beautiful here. Iâm sure youâll get many suggestions about what to do and see. May I recommend a bit of First Nations Culture? Alert Bay is a fantastic place to visit. Iâm sure there will be a potlatch that you could attend. We could go together đ
We went to Banff National Park on the border of Alberta and British Columbia in 2006. Itâs all part of the Canadian Rockies. The scenery is beyond breathtaking. The aqua blue color of the water in the lakes doesnât seem possible. I highly recommend that you go there. Nothing can possibly be more beautiful!
You are so sweet. You give me a lot of joy.
I was married to my husband for 17 years. We got married first but being married don t fix anything unless itâs the legal stuff. I have never remarried. We divorced in 1984. We had a daughter and a son. Children give you great joy and deep heart ache. I pray whatever path you take it works for you. You are beautiful people both inside and out!
When in Canada in BC you MUST go to Cathedral Grove on Vancouver Island!!! Itâs like travelling/hiking through a Tolkien forest. Stands of 800-1000 year old trees. A lot of Douglas Firs and others. SUCH a SPECTACULAR place!!! Promise you will check it out!!! đâ€ïžđđžđ»đșđšđŠ One of your Canadian family! đđ
If you get to Cathedral Grove, keep driving to Ucluelet and Tofino ... And beaches on the wild Pacific Ocean.
@@kjoy5905 Yes, also TOFINO!!! đŠ đŠ
If your partnership has worked this long without a piece of paper..why change it . Your obviously devoted and in love. You two do you..!!â€ïž
The Paper matters as to if something happens each can make important decisions for one another LOVE is better with or without the Paper
I agree. Don't change it. You can have lawyers set up all of those papers anyways.
Excellent vid.
Laughed out loud when you said you wanted to be normal instead of married.
My husband and I continue to be surprised how much we feel married does matter in ways we struggle to verbalize. Big fans, actually. And, if you knew us, I think that would surprise you... Not conformists....
Gotta say Bee - your video editing is absolutely wonderful. The music, the shots of everychanging elements of nature, the transitions and of course the great cast and content. Truly a wonderful viewing experience, and it makes me feel like I've been on a mini travel experience every time. BC and Alberta is gorgeous - Lake Louise is very touristy but lots of beautiful places to stay and the lake and area is STUNNING. I have been to Squamish BC and it's beautiful - the drive from Vancouver is along the most picturesque highway - the mountains on one side and the Pacific on the other. Great hiking the trail up to the top of the Chief! Whistler is not much further up the road.
Are you guys happy? Thatâs what counts!!! Keep on your amazing relationship !!! Enjoy life , be honest, and faithfully to each other đđâȘïž
Hi how are you doing?
Definitely visit Vancouver Island! Lots of beautiful forests, cliffs, wilderness, smaller islands and more. Visit the quirky town of Sooke and Shirley Delicious in the itsy bitsy town of Shirley. So many gorgeous parks, beaches and rivers along that route.
Highly recommend Vancouver Island . Cheap flights from UK ; around 9 hours . So many beautiful remote places to see. Our son lives in a tiny cabin on a Lake outside Nanimo . Before I became ill and blind we travelled there each year to visit from Australia. Now my son lives 6 months on Vancouver Island and six months his tiny house here in Gippsland, Australia. Thank you for the narrative, the inspiration ; being blind I still get so much visual information from listening to you both
Your videos on Patreon & repeated here ALWAYS fill me with joy no matter the ups & downs. Iâm blown away by the hard work you accomplish in all your projects & your visions for the future.đđ„°đ
Thank you so much. Thatâs so lovely to hear â€ïž
I can a lot of food, but there is a large investment for jars, lids, rings, cooker, etc. In the last two years I've been doing more dehydrating, and that's what I would really recommend for you--especially natural sun-based dehydrating. Food lasts, is delicious when rehydrated, and takes up little space.
Places to visit on your trip to Canada: Lake Louise/Banff- begin in Calgary and drive to the region then into BC and down to Vancouver and area. Drive to whistler/Blackcomb area along the coast. Views from Grouse Mtn at night are beautiful. You can take a ferry from Vancouver or from Tsawwassen over to Vancouver Island to visit Victoria and drive up the coast to Tofino and see the whales up by Campbell River. Vancouver is only 40 miles from the US border. Donât know if you can cross into Washington State but worth trying. The San Juan islands are beautiful. Good luck. Hope you post your journey to đšđŠ.
I live in Surrey BC outside of Vancouver. The Vancouver area, city and Whistler areas are gorgeous. Also Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands are very beautiful. We are surrounded by mountains. The Rockies,Banff are awesome to see. I have been to the top of this province and it has a diverse geography. The Okanagan is much like Portugal with lakes and drier land. We have wineries and fruit groves in the Okanagan and also in the Fraser Valley. So much. Send me a message anytime and I can give you any information you require. Would love to meet you both. đ„°
I'm in Vancouver area. Vancouver Island is beautiful. Of course you can check out touristy areas like Tofino. Beautiful scenery, beaches for miles. We have a place on a small gulf island. Quiet and rustic. Composting toilet too. Would love if you guys had a meet up somewhere. Vancouver is expensive though.
And booked up!
@@carolinecaiger6717 Thanks
Only because you're world travelers, marriage might be helpful. You never know when you might be in some country in which they might prevent you from making a medical decision or seeing one another, unless you're officially next of kin. But in terms of your commitment, I agree that your lives together is what will continue to deepen your bond -- not a certificate.
Not just medical issues... Immigration ones too.
Nice to hear you are coming to Canada. All provinces have their beauty. British Columbia has the ocean, the mountains and the dessert. The capital is Victoria and is a very lovely city to visit.
Tofino on Vancouer island beautiful beach and Catheral Grove hundred year old trees đł
The whole island is beautiful.. in BC the beauty is every where enjoy as we do
Canada, eh?!! I live in Calgary, approximately 2 hrs from Banff, the mountains, lots of hiking trails, beautiful scenery. Always welcome!
Never doubted Theo's ability to reverse in the van with the water tank, the lad's a legend. Loved this video with Q&A. Bee looks so beautiful in her pretty dress. Loved the Ginjey and Fernando shots.x
You're becoming quite the green thumb Bea. Its something so wonderful for the body, mind and soul. And its so nice to see just how happy it making you feel.
Coming to Canada...YAY! The west coast is SO beautiful! Will you be having some meet ups?
On the marriage issue, I'd say for medical and inheritance purposes, you should consider it. My mom's partner of 18 years died, and she had no legal say in his medical care, and when he passed she lost everything. His family inherited his possessions. She lost everything. So it may not happen to you guys, but if something horrible happened and one of you were hospitalized, you may want to consider that even a medical power of attorney isn't really sufficient. My husband and I just celebrated our 30th anniversary, and I'd most definitely marry him again and again. We were also young sweethearts and married when I turned 18.
Congratulations your diligence and hard work has paid off, every thing looks fabulous, stay safe
I was married to the most beautiful man for 46 years we worked together everyday as you do, we were together for 50 but he died in 2011, its a piece of paper it doesn't stop you from loving each other less. just keep doing what your both doing we all love you both dearly. just keep up the good work. I love everything about you both.
Hope you are wellâ€
Yes iam fine thanks
@@suepowell2118 Hello đ
@@Godwinpounds4333 hi are you talking to me ???
@@suepowell2118 yes dear how are you doing?
Weâve been married 36 years and have two adult children. Our son is 30, our daughter is 22. We are still both in love with each other!â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Great video as always. When you start the "canning phase" prepare jn advance something like a rootcellar or a shed where you can keep your canned goods @ a nice cool dry place to put ur onions garlic etc @
Bea and Theo are very articulate! Sometimes itâs not as easy to understand people on CZcams! Accents can be difficult. Maybe itâs me, but some Brits are harder to understand what they are saying. Iâm NOT criticizing anyones speech, Bea and Theo just speak clearly. I love British accents. Love this channel. It occurred to me how easy it is to watch them! Bravo Bea and Theo! Love from NW Colorado. Thanxz
This is so exciting! The big blue tank is here! Next, water to the house! Yeah!!!!! đđ»â„ïžđșđž
Been married for 22 years yes it is well worth it. I love my hubby with all my heart â€ïžâ€ïž
After being a couple this long, and being able to finish each other's sentences, it would be fun to make it official! Your fur babies could come, and your subscribers would love it!
Bea your dresses are just so lovely. So summery and perfect in your setting. Love every minute of these snippets of your wonderful life in this great part of the world.
Usually I don't like Q and A videos but yours is very dynamic and I watched it until the end with pleasure.
Woohoo! Canada! So much to see and do here, you will love it.

47 years marred The best decision I/we ever made.
A couple suggestions for the garden. Tree collards and walking onions. Both will come back year after year, no replanting needed. Tree collards get up to like 8 feet tall plus and will grow/produce for up to 15 years. Walking onions droop over to reseed. Looks like they are 'walking' across your garden, hence the name. My first picks for my food forest.
I've been wanting a start of the walking onions for yrs. I don't order stuff from Amazon so it's more difficult to source unusual items.
Yeah those onions are nice,
âFood forestâ I love it!
They sound amazing, whatâs a collard? May be called something else in the UK
@@hattyburrow716 Collard greens are comparable to kale.
Thanks for a nice Vlog đ. Regarding marriage, I met My husband feb 1977, moved together after 14 days!!! Engaged in March 1978. Got married in Paris 1979 and we still married!! đđOMG now you understand how old I am đđđŒâ€ïž
Can beat that meet in june1978 married feb1979 yep still have him, cant be bothered to train another,đ dont worry about a piece of paper.
Bea, your dress is beautiful and you lock wonderful in it! Happy Anniversary you two!!
West Edmonton Mall, Drumheller to climb the tall Dinosaur, Rosedale to check out the old mining town, Fort Macleod, Banff National Park and Jasper National Park, Lake Louise, Kananaskis for hiking and spas. There are natural hot springs all over. Hiking trails for beginners and pros. And, that's just Alberta, B.C. is even more amazing! Just google sights to see, they truly are amazing. I was born and raised out east, and we moved here to Alberta in 1990 when I was pregnant with my first, so I never got to see the beautiful western side of Canada. And now, my girls are all grown up and it is my time to explore! Yay!
we drove the length of BC, the further north we got, the better I liked it (Cassiar Highway), Bakerville was interesting (a re-created goldrush town). So many highlights along the way, so many other areas left to explore
I'm from B.C. Canada I'm so glad you are coming here to visit. Have you been here before? Manning Park, Revelstoke, Banff and Jasper are all stunning places to stay. Did I see you feeding the goats oak leaves? I might be wrong but we have always considered oak poison for the animals. I know goats eat just about anything, but maybe check on that. I'm going to look it up again as well.
You both are amazing. I love how you have traveled and restored the old barn. You have made a beautiful home surrounded by all of God's creation. You are truly blessed. Thank you for sharing your journey.
I really liked how you did your question and answer episode. I usually don't watch them but I certainly will on your channel! Thank you!
You will definitely enjoy your time in Alberta and BC. The mountain scenery is beautiful!
love the format of the video! much more interesting than just sitting answering the questions. Thank you!
Going to Canada, you need to head out to whistler not only for the bike park but for the views and mountains đ
We r going to celebrate 46 yrs together ( and we got married after 6 wks of dating). I would say being married gave both of us a secure starting point. And yes I do believe it made our commitment stronger. We would never change that âpiece of paperâ for anything!
Great information. Thanks yâall. So enjoy your vids.
For a BC experience, you would love a BnB on Sproat Lake on Vancouver Island! They have a water bomber, firefighting station with fantastic planes to watch. Then there is the ranch experience at the Gang Ranch or at Ashcroft. Another beautiful place is the Kettle River Valley. There is a campground at Rock Creek that is fun. Anywhere along the river is perfect for a good swim. These are the less touristy places. Then there is Glacier National Park.
On the Alberta side, after Banff and Lake Louise, there is Waterton National Park. These are the touristy destinations. But Waterton is less crowded as a rule. Canmore Alberta has some lovely cabins on the Bow River system, with lots of lovely woodland trails. Apart from the National parks the other destinations are a little more off the main destinations and I find much more of a real Canadian experience. There are CZcamsrs you can check out. The Samurai Carpenter and Buckin Billy Ray on Vancouver Island who can give you a perspective on the island life as well. Buckin Billy especially is a lovely fellow, who can put you in touch with others along your journey if you so choose.
Loved your blog (as always)! Keep up the good work.
Canada is absolutely beautiful!
Oh yeah, we are currently parked across from some donkeys and a large lama. There is a baby donkeys and a mama and papa donkey.. the baby was born the week before we got here. It is such a pleasure to watch them throughout the day. Team Donkey here. I do love your other fur babies. Oh one question, do you plan to get a dog anytime soon ?
Fantastic video, per usual. Love what youâre doing with your home! â€ïž
Seeing Vancouver Island is a must for most people traveling to BC. Iâm born and raised on the Island and there too many wonderful places to see to list â€ïžđšđŠ
We live and love living in mid prairie Canada. Had drought last year and floods this year đ We used to travel (with camper) to the west coast for over 20 years each summer. Finally going back to mountains this August. Check out Waterton national park. Literally corner of Alberta, B.C. and Montana border. Scenic boat tour takes u into U.S. Hiking/waterfalls/horse trails. Its where the prairies meet the mountains. Kananaskis, Banff, Johnston Canyon, Ice fields in Alberta. To the west in B.C. Crows Nest pass, Fairmont hot springs. River rafting popular in southern Alberta/B.C. Vancouver island is gorgeous. Friends have travelled along up and down B.C. west coast-boat tours/hikes/camping. Ottawa they say is a wonderful French experience. Lower Ontario- Niagara Falls/etc. This vlog was packed with goodness! Having current wills is important. đšđŠâ€ïž
Excited for you to come to my province. Alberta! I live 45 minutes from Calgary and an 1-1\2 to Banff.
