Building an outdoor kitchen on the veranda is a fantastic idea for the warmer months ahead! We can also eat our food grown on the property to make a delicious lunch in our new outdoor kitchen

Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

put the pizza oven on the top otherwise youer gonna burn the top or wrap it
that's a perfect climate to grow st John's worth and lots of other medicinal herbs arnica
St John's tea makes me sleep like dead
Hugalcalture is another best way to grow everything beans/peas from seed are easiest to grow on them

Bea, you are so lucky to have such a talented man to make these units for you. Way to go.
"Summer kitchen" is a must in the Mediterranean, thanks to whoever blessed you with that cooker. You're slowly turning into real homesteaders, I can imagine once you have enough time to focus all your energy into it, it will be so abundant!!!
There is no joy quite like the joy of picking the veg that you have grown and making it into a meal for your family! You’ve definitely got “the bug” Bee. Growing food= happiness and joy!
Thanks Fiona!
Loved to see this video. Because I don't know if you have too few "party" moments, or you just keep them to yourselves.
Because it's absolutely important that you fête your amazing accomplishments properly. With good food, candles, flowers, good music. Watching the sunset and your cats having fun, cuddling and talking about the amazing things you accomplished and unique things you experienced.
You do that often, I hope??
Great idea with the outdoor kitchen, but... please re-think having a pizza oven directly above the gas bottle from a safety perspective. If you do end up enclosing the gas bottle, I would suggest that it be enclosed in those crates, so the slits act as an airflow. Congrats to both of you on a fantastic build. 👏👏👏
I think you need to change the introduction to The Indie Projects because that's not an old barn any more. It's a dream home, with beautifully crafted floors (nice scribing, Bee) and beautifully pointed walls and mezzanine. I can't wait to see your next project. You guys are skilled artisans.
You’re right! We’ve been talking about it for a while but keep forgetting 😂
Bee please don’t listen to the people who hate themselves with their negative opinions. Your beautiful smile and your beautiful self is enjoyable in every video. I enjoy listening to you and watching all your videos that you and Theo put out. Much ❤️❤️ to the 2 of you.
Growing up in Florida my grandma had a "summer kitchen". You two are just amazing. Bea, if anyone can carry off wearing a skirt living and working in a construction site, it's you, dear.
What a lovely outdoor kitchen you have now! That'll be so handy when it gets really hot. Glad to see your garden is doing well, Bee, and you can enjoy the results of your work. You're a natural!
Just an advice, be careful with the sun directly shining on the gas bottle it can let loose the tube of the connection and waste the full tank, it already happened two times with my family and I'm not sure if it's safe to put a pizza oven next to it also! Just be careful guys! ❤️ Love your videos!
I was also thinking there should be a moveable screen to block the sun and keep the area cool/dark. '' But isn't it all coming together beatifully ? All the animals are happy and well cared for These guys have done an amazing job !
I was thinking the same thing about the pizza oven next to the gas bottle it would be better the other side like Bee said in the first place , great work guys , love everything you are doing xxxx
@@Ijustmetagirlnamedmaria they do😊
I noticed the goats are so obedient! Great job with outside kitchen….no fumes inside & Spring looks incredible on your land! Your vlogs bring JOY to your subscribers especially during a Pandemic & cost of living due to many factors, thank u Bee & Theo! I think that is first time I have seen u eating ….your own food that u grew yum! 🤗😍🇦🇺🥂
This was a fantastic episode in your lives, setting up the outdoor cooking space and then to top it all eating a meal mostly grown by you own hands is a massive achievement. Bee please promise me one thing, if you feel a bit low in the future, try to remember this episode x. Well done you two x.
The summer kitchen is the best thing you've done, makes complete sense
Here in the panhandle of Florida we have the same kind of temperatures but very humid. In summer we don't even want to cook outside. But that meal really looked wonderful. Good job Bee!
Bea, you are a beautiful person inside and outside. You have a beautiful face and a contagious smile. Don't let anyone tell you that you don't. You and Theo are the most honest and authentic couple I have seen on CZcams. I have enjoyed every moment of your journey. Sandy from Lancaster Pennsylvania, USA
The summer kitchen and the outside furniture complement each other perfectly ! The surroundings looks so beautiful and lushly green ! What a yummy meal ! 😊💗
NOTHING better than growing & eating your own food. Enjoy xx
So rewarding, having your own garden fresh food, I agree. Not to mention, nutritionally packed!
Love you two💕
❤️
That meal looks delish! You guys are my favourite people, I am so glad things seem to be going smoothly now for you both
Oh how great to be able to cook a meal outside. My most favorite part of this video is that lovely little pea tendril sticking out of your salad.
It tasted lovely!
YUM! Looks good Bea. Nothing better than fresh veggies plucked from your own garden.
How great to reuse materials and recycle things to make something else. Bea, your cooking looks tasty and what better than being self sufficient as much as possible. Love ❤ to both.
The food that you made yourself from your own veg looked absolutely incredible 😍😍😍
Yep, I think we all would have loved to join you for that wonderful lunch. Another project ticked off the list!
Hugs from 🇨🇦
Seeing you two so supportive of each other while building a forever home worthy of envy makes me super happy!
I noticed as Theo was mowing around the garden that you have a lot of dandelions. I am curious if you have thought to harvest your dandelions root for tea? It has excellent health benefits. The leaves are also edible with a light peppery flavor & are highly nutritious. I love the outdoor kitchen. This is in my book of dreams.
Simplicity Is The Key To Brilliance
Tip to help Fernando ease down on vet trip. You can buy a spray ( usually at vets ) that capms cats down. Spray it on a fabric which you cover the cage with he is in.
Wonderful project you guys! Inspiring. The best of luck to you! 💪❤️
Oh that b-roll of the farm and wild flowers and the tractor… so very beautiful!!!
Thank you for another very enjoyable vlog; and as well as looking forward to seeing your projects and tasks,( in some part of every vlog) I also so enjoy seeing glimpses of your land with the various 'outhouses', the chickens and the chicken coup, the beautiful wild flowers, the bees and butterflies, the birds singing, your wells and water areas, and your fruit trees; and watching the goats , your cats playing in the sun, Theo driving the tractor and tilling the soil or cutting the grass or strimming and Bea enjoying her plants; seeing her planting them, picking them and then cooking and eating them ( while relaxing in the sun), is just so relaxing and so enjoyable. I wish there was time for it all😊😊
There will always be work to do on the property, it never ends, however the two of you have accomplished so much and have made a beautiful tiny home. There will always be time for pockets of peace here and there as you continue to develop your dream place.
stain the crates as well....the simple life you just cant beat it. well done you two
Such a delicious-looking meal!!! Yes, eating food you have grown feels great! You are right about cooking outside and spending time outside. I live in Canada where warm weather months ate fewer. I live outside fro May to October! I cook outside on my barbecue and griddle! My fur baby Theo usually pees on his 10 minute drive to the vet!!! Such a Drama King! 🐈 😊🎶🌸🌺🌸🌻👏👏👏 🐈❤️🇨🇦
Hi Bea and Theo! So good to see the newly installed Outdoor Kitchen. I love cooking outdoors year-round, even in the Winter. Though I prefer a Wood Fire Cookpit. I really love grilling meats and veggies and even baking over a Fire. And you have discovered the joy of doing the same. You are going to get a LOT of use out of your Veranda. 🙂
Theo, if you tape a plastic bottle to your saw's sawdust output, you could save that and use it for animal bedding, etc. - if you do enough wood work, that is! Just a thought - using resources to their fullest potential is environmentally friendly, as you already know! 😊
Bee all the fresh veggies look so good , they are so healthy for you too . I love your cooking station . You have everything you need to cook a lovely meal . Theo is definitely a natural on his tractor . What a lovely video you guys .
Love, love, love, your outdoor kitchen!
You have done so well with your off grid home and the work that you have done on your land. Your beautiful cats Gingey Bear and Fernando are adorable and the goats are beautiful as well also the meal that Bea made looked absolutely delicious. Well done to you both xx
Just in time for Summer. Grillin and Chillin . It doesn't get any better. Happy Mother's Day to both your mothers 💖💖 Harriet and Jim. Richmond. Va.
It was awesome to see Bee cutting the veggies from the garden and then cooking outside. I wonder if Theo could build a small or narrow partition that would protect the cooking area from the elements of the weather. Maybe something that is clear and attachable to the roof so Bee could still have a beautiful view of the outside area. I know, more work, but there is so much more to do and it's wonderful!
Bee, lovely to see you looking so happy =) well done with your garden and I am sure there are many happy cook ups to come out there. Hugs to you both x
OMG you two are forging ahead and have so much to be grateful for! I ❤️ your videos and have watched from the beginning! Your home is a spot in paradise! 🥰🇨🇦🌈
You’ve inspired me to start gardening. I can learn along side you Bea. Love to you both xx
I Enjoy seeing all you're doing to make your life and home the best place for you. I also love to watch your land and its beauty. Love your animals! You should try to find more of them to save, and to help keep your land free of weeds and mowed, lol.
Now I very much would like an outdoor kitchen. Looks so relaxing cooking outside.
Dang Bea you got me wanting a salad right now… that lettuce and broccoli looks so fresh and sounded so crisp when you cut into it!!!! That shot of the plated salad was the best!!! You go girl!!!
Outdoor kitchen will sure come in handy for preserving fruits, canning veggies and jelly making. Just needs an outdoor sink.
A free cooker, Great, back in my Grandparents days, everyone had porch, or summer kitchens, because there was No air conditioning back then, in America, so You two are really smart,
A truly lovely... yet again... very productive video. Thank you v much for sharing so much of your lives with us. Seeing the joy on Bea's face collecting that wonderful food was a thrill indeed and as for Theo the Tank Engine... how he loves the tractor!.. all fabulous to see. Thank you both so much. Take care, Pam
Thank you! You beautiful happy people !
Bless you both for being great CAT parents. 🐈 ❤💛💚
Thank you 😊
We've had one of those temporary storage tents in our back garden for so long, it's now showing on the sat photos. 🤣
😂
A very inspiring video. I’m so happy for you’ll! You’re living the dream, instead of just dreaming!
Love the outdoor kitchen!
That meal looks so delicious! Everything looks so beautiful!❤️
Beautiful...all of what you both have created! Love it! ❤️
My father is 90 and still enjoys getting on the tractor and mowing the lawn. Therapy
Bea and Theo, I just love your channel, you are both the best, I can’t wait to see your kitchen when it’s done. Your house is just adorable, I wish I could see you guys and walk your land, everything there is so beautiful! ❤️❤️
Oh I just get excited when I get a reminder your on. So round of you and happy for you.
Love the outdoor kitchen !😊
Well done guys. The lunch looked delicious and made all the more sweeter by harvesting your own garden. To be able to cook outside is an absolute must especially in the hotter months. Enjoy. Take care, be safe. 💕 Dorset, UK
Love your porch, clean it off and actually USE it (other than for storage- it will make you feel better to have a spot just to relax)
It's so awesome to be makers like you guys!!
Amazing progress you two...!!
Such a blessing to have an outdoor kitchen, all my Portuguese and Italian friends here in the USA have either outdoor summer kitchens or they have a kitchen in the basement level. The vegetables look wonderful 👍👍🥦🥕🥒🍅🧅🧄🥬
You should build like a small railing on the porch on the side of your outdoor kitchen, I think it makes it look cozy and enclosed
The summer kitchen is awesome! I'm glad Fernando survived his check up. I had a kitty that did the same thing. 🙂👍👍👍👍
What a lovely addition to your off-grid homestead. You two work together so nicely. Have a great week.
Favorite couple of all time!
These last few projects have turned the corner for me, where this is becoming your home. Once the last bit of sawdust is cleaned, the last extra bits are stored away and you are living day to day in this wonderful space you have created from nothing…heaven on earth!
Bea, your floral print blouse is beautiful. It goes so well with the gorgeous natural background. You and Theo are so blessed with all the beautiful wildflowers on your property.
Congrats on your garden and outdoor kitchen absolutely fantastic 🤩thank you for sharing your world and life with us ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks!
Congratulations on your beautiful farm. It looks like a lot of work, but very rewarding. I would like to suggest that Theo build a kitchen sink with running water.
I’m so happy for you both! I love your outdoor kitchen and garden👍🏻♥️
Simply brilliant, to use one of your own Britishisms!
Just magical seeing you enjoy your homegrown food!
Dandelions are a sign that your soil is lacking calcium. Garden lime (calcium carbonate) can help rectify the imbalance, but you'd only really need it in in-ground beds (unless you used just regular native soil in the planter boxes, then they'll need it too).
I absolutely love outdoor cooking. Sadly I can't do it anymore. Your food from the garden looks amazing. How rewarding.
Wonderful Guys! Love the Summer Kitchen! Obrigada ☺️
Love the outside kitchen❤💯
Glorious outdoor kitchen and garden!❤️🥳
Perhaps consider building your own wood burning barbecue grill? You certainly have enough branches, brush and trees (to prune) to give you free fuel!
Oh that outside kitchen and the food looks delicious
Beautiful thumbnail
Love your outdoor kitchen! Your food looked delicious 💚💚💚
Lunch looks DELICIOUS. Fresh homegrown vegetables are amazing ❤🥰
the long sleeved blouse is beautiful and photographs really well.
So wonderful to watch your videos. Gives me peace of mind. All the best to you guys 🤍
Great video! 0H Bea, That meal you prepared looks absolutely delicious.
You are looking great Bee, and you look happy.
How lovely to pick your own home grown food. Outdoor kitchen looks great 👍
Love your videos and enjoy watching them every time they come on I wish I could have a summer kitchen
The wildflowers are beautiful! Outdoor kitchen is working lovely, great idea!👌
awesome smart move....cook outside and odors stay outside and also much easier clean up....love it....time to grill and have neighbors over for fresh fruit and veggies from the garden.
idyllic..loved the cameo moment of you walking back from the garden..just living in the best of all possible ways--love it.
Thank you ❤️
Love your outdoor kitchen. God bless y'all.
I agree it is so much better to cook outside in the summer. That was a good find that little gas stove, ideal for your needs too. It's all coming together very nicely, the produce will be a must that you grow and any excess can be made into preserves and stored in jars. Well done, stay safe 💕🇦🇺
Today's opening is the nicest one I have seen! The music and the scenes combined to soften and intrigue as we enter your homeland! Thank you for sharing!💚💗
Oh! And your outdoor kitchen ideas are great!
Nifty outdoor kitchen set up❤️🤩💛🥰 There is nothing better than dining al fresco in the summer months💚🌈💙 What a wonderful video! You both have made such a beautiful home on your wonderful land👏👏👏🌈💐🐥🐏🐈❤️❤️❤️ Stay safe, be well and see ya next time👋👋👋
