- The "FLY" (Fleury-Lindros-York) line was flying high in this game. It opens with a brutal fight between McCarthy and Hordichuk just three seconds in, then skips to the start of the second period. (No scoring in the 1st, all scoring shown the rest of the way). Wide open game with a high shot total for both sides. Lindros's hat trick goal is at 48:30. He also netted his 300th career goal earlier in the game.

Great fight in the beginning
Healthy Lindros was ridiculously talented. This was near the end but if he didn't get the concussions he could have done anything.

I miss the Atlanta Thrashers, please bring them back! With a proper ownership group that cares, it can work in Atlanta. Stop screwing around in Arizona and move the Yotes to Atlanta and bring back the Thrashers!
This was maybe the only time during those so called dark ages where there was a glimmer of light. In the 01-02 season they were firing on all cylinders in November and December and at or near 1st in the division and east during those times and there was this almost hope that maybe this is finally over. Even from new years to the olympic break they were in the middle of the pack in the east. Ughh the wheels fell of after the olympics and it was ssdd. Ughh but hey as a 14 year old kid there was something to be happy about.
What made that year worse at the end was that the Islanders also turned their franchise around, making the playoffs after they were even worse than the Rangers the previous year. New coach plus Yashin, Peca, and Osgood got it done.
(Although they would later regret that 10 year Yashin deal...)
Is there anyway you can upload Bures first game as a Ranger on 3/18/02? Some of the pregame and the actual game would be awesome!
@Jack Smith Ask Glen Sather that... but seriously, I think it was a combination of star players past their prime, prospects that didn't develop, and injuries.
After they traded York and Fluery had his meltdown that was it!
@@bigbear8832 never got the York trade either however when they sped up the game in 05 York was done.
