I love the Marvel Cinematic films with Iron Man onwards and I loved Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy and the X-Men films.
However for me the greatest comic book films were Tim Burton's Batman films (1989, 1992) and Superman (1978) and Superman II (1981) and the greatest films have got to Christopher Nolan's Batman/Dark Knight trilogy (2005-2012). I know it's only Christopher Nolan's grounded version, but it made Batman so relatable and realistic. It's a great film.

@Damian Howard Yes, but it was also Bill Finger, along with Jerry Robinson and Dick Sprang, who created everything that is considered iconic and essential to the Batman mythos: the cowl, the main character not having any powers, Robin, the Batmobile, Alfred, the Joker, Catwoman, the Penguin, the Scarecrow, Two-Face and so forth. Bob Kane was infamous for treating all of them like shit and never acknowledging nor the art nor their contributions to the character's universe, not even after two of them were long gone. Even in death he still wanted to be remembered as the one and only creator of Batman. Every time you see something about Batman that you like and/or it is great, that's Finger, Robinson, Sprang or the three of them combined, not Kane.

Only one answer comes to mind, "I am what Gotham needs me to be." Batman knew I am not my own person and must think of the welfare of Gotham from the rich to the poor. Batman Begins will always be the best out of the series for me, it just has the best story, and best general flow. We feel bruce's pain and understand him, and why he begins. The Dark Knight is amazing, the entire series is, don't get me wrong, but Joker is the only reason why it is rated so highly.

    • @nicholasdickens2801

I think you're doing it a great disservice. Christopher Nolan deconstructs Batman perfectly. That old adage 'Batman only comes out at night. Commit crime during the day.'
As he states so devastatingly. "You have nothing to do with all your power. Nothing to threaten me with." Because he knows Batman has rules. A moral code.
The story of The Dark Knight is just how far someone is willing to go, joe much they are willing to compromise and sacrifice to serve a higher good.
The Dark Knight deals with this on many subtle levels. Batman's taking the blame for the murder of Harvey Dent and taking the blame for his death and crimes.
Jim Gordon going along with it. Alfred for destroying a letter that will stop Bruce from being devastated from choosing Harvey over him.
Harvey almost succumbing to threatening to kill someone to save Rachel.
"You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

This duo is amazing, and I really think they balance each other out perfectly, highlighting the different feels encomapssed by these films -- Zimmer, I think, brings the chaos, darkness, and anarchy, whilst Newton Howard gives us the more melodic, lyrical aspects. Their different compositional styles balance each other out in a gorgeous way.
