How a Solar Eclipse and Mercury's Orbit proved General Relativity | Andromeda

  • It is 1918, and Einstein published his General Theory of Relativity just a couple years ago and has yet to test it in a regime that will set it apart from Newtonian Gravity, exchanging information on these two theories, especially in regards to how they account for the orbits of the planets in our Solar System. To that end, the following questions emerge. How was the theory developed? How does it explain the motions of the planets, and more specifically, does it solve the problem of Mercury's orbit?
In this video, you will be taken through the amazing story of how General Relativity was verified, using Solar Eclipses, and Mercury's Orbit. Often in the video, Newton's laws are said to be incorrect. But this is not true. What the video infers, is that General Relativity becomes more and more accurate under extreme cases, such as those near a star or such.

I seriously dont know why...but the LOTR music somehow made this video perfect! Your explanation was so clear and easy to understand. Thank you so much, look forward to seeing more of your videos. P.s. def use more LOTR music in future videos! It goes so well with this stuff... and i have no idea why??! lol

A nice primer on Einstein and his GR. I would only change the description of how SR and GR are related - SR does describe accelerations and it's a standard topic in Physics degrees; it simply doesn't explain them and doesn't apply the relativity principle (covariance) to any accelerating frames.

Very well explained, especially for a topic I know is especially hard to make sense of.
Although I would mention that using LotR music in the background could be an issue if you monetize your channel due to copyright issues. That said, it made for a good atmosphere.

Hey man! Thanks a lot for your constructive feedback, as always! As for monetizing, I don't think that will be possible until I reach atleast 1000 subscribers, which is well away in the future. Although, glad you enjoyed the LotR music. :D

Well, some docs showed that Einstein's results were closer to but not the same as calculations than Newton's did.
