    We had this happen this year. The tops were gone and totally eaten. We put some of our dog’s fur out among them. We have not had any more munching! 😊

    I’m in the experimental phase of sizing them correctly. I’m in south Florida and tried a single seed every 3”. Some were the perfect size and others ended up smaller. I realized there was a plant blocking some of the shorter ones in the afternoon. Opps! Now I know why they were shorter.

      Great detective work regarding your shorter sunflowers! 👏🧐👏 Glad to hear you are experimenting to find the spacing that works best for you. It is so amazing how tightly these plants can be spaced! Thanks so much for sharing your story and for watching 🤗 Wishing you lots of sunflowers all summer long! ☀😎☀

    Thank you but how do you keep rabbits away? I've used a spray and I"ve used a chicken wire cages until they are over 1'.5 tall and they they still still get nipped down. Any ideas?

    Love how practical & relevant these FAQs are!😊 I'm trialing spacing my ProCuts at 4" apart & between rows. It's not working well for the sunflowers planted at later succession as the larger ones are canopy in over with leaves. Will try the 6" between rows next year.

    Light, floating row cover keeps the animal pressure off until my flowers emerge. I also use insect netting. I pin it down leaving lots of cover to blouse in the center. Remove it when the flowers are big enough to survive and not be as delectable. It helps.

    How do I keep the stems on sunflowers from getting like broomsticks?

    • @LayneAngeloTGW
      @LayneAngeloTGW Před rokem +1

      Hello! Spacing your single-stem sunflowers tighter as we discussed in the video should help to reduce the flower size as well as the stem thickness 😃 4-6" apart is a good starting point, but feel free to experiment with spacing until you get your desired result! Thanks so much for watching, and have a fantastic day 🤗

    I use insect netting on mine until they are tall enough to touch it. Then, Liquid Fence becomes my best friend.

    I've heard Layne talk about her own garden a number of times when talking about specific issues. I'd love to see some pictures of what she has going on. Does she have an instagram page?
