I planted Canterbury bells, a mixed color packet. Only had a medium purple color. They were beautiful though
Beautiful assortment of flowers! I feel sorry for the people on podcasts, lol. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. 😊🌸💖
Hello, Carole! I love looking at the flowers, too 🥰 I try to be as descriptive as possible for the people listening on podcast apps, but a picture really is worth a thousand words, as the saying goes ☺ Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment! Have a lovely day 🤗
It’s great to watch these on CZcams, then download the podcast to pound the information into my memory while driving 😊
So well done🌟 Great format, easy to follow & take notes. Pretty pictures and hard working slides. You two are ready for Prime Time 👏🌻

@@gr8gardn Awww - you are too kind, Barbara! Thanks so much - glad you enjoyed it 🤗
Thank you, thank you! So many helpful specifics!!
The deer came in and munched on my Companula, Canterbury Bells stems early. So it was like me penching them back. No problem! They came out beautiful! So I was lucky. Live your advise!!
Layne must surely be from California ~ that Valley Girl sentence finish tone cracks me up.
You guessed right - I am originally from California! 😂 Thanks for watching 😁
I learned so much thank you
Great information! I actually had my copy of 'Cool Flowers' open as I watched and added some sticky notes to each page with some of the tips Lisa shared.
I almost ripped atriplex out, I forgot about it, but when i saw the seedpots... wow!
I wish I knew about you channel earlier. It is so informative. Thank you from the Australian subtropics.
Really interesting. Like your idea of trying at least three times if at first you don't succeed try again, and again, and again. I'm just setting out on my journey growing cut flowers and sometimes the mind boggles as to when, where and how. I think sometimes just go for it and learn along the way. Thank you for sharing very helpful information.
You are so right, Gina - sometimes you just have to experiment to find out what works best for you! So happy you enjoyed this episode ☺ Thanks so much for watching, and have a lovely day! 🤗
I'm in zone 6b. Carnations overwinter here just fine. 😊

Lots to absorb here. My garden is for church arrangements and home bouquets. Can you talk more about fall planting? Im in zone 6a.
Love seedtalk
Yay - so happy to hear this, Belle! Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment 🤗
My foxglove grew 5 ft. In part shade.. I unfortunately am allergic. So after 4 years I ripped them out painfully.
Godetia performed better in heat but had afternoon shade.. learning so much listening to you ladies. Keep up the good work❤
I am so glad I found the gardeners workshop! I have learned so much from you and have such a better understanding of how to grow beautiful flowers. I have a small container garden as I live in an apartment. Can you recommend varieties that would be good in a greenstalk?
Hello, Tonia! There are a lot of flowers that work well in containers 🙂 For whichever type of flowers you are interested in, I would look for more compact varieties as a jumping-off point. Best of luck, and thanks so much for watching! 🤗
Do a session on the new plants in the book just delivered.
I'm just now getting around to watching this and have found it so helpful. I live in Zone 7B north Mississippi, which has very hot and humid summers, but I love the cottage garden flowers. I still have a lot to learn but have been very successful with foxgloves, nigella and Bachelor's Buttons. However, we had a freeze event in December that killed all of my hardy annuals, including foxgloves, so I seeded Camelot and Dalmation right after Christmas since they are supposed to flower the first year. My question is, will they also come back and bloom next spring, as well? Also, I have clay soil, which is well-amended for better drainage. I'm not sure what type of soil you grow in, but will that also make a difference in wintering over these hardy annuals? I have your Cool Flowers book, which I consult on a regular basis!

FYI baby's breath in PNW (Pacific Northwest) and western Canada considered as an invasive species.
Amazing info 🙏🏻🙏🏻 could you please clarify which cornflower you meant...as the stage to pick as i could not see what you meant 🙏🏻😁
Thank you for all this great information. Do you have specific measures that you take to prevent aphid infestation under the tunnels in addition to removing crop residue?
Suggestions for sessions: talk about which flowers would do well in a garden, how to use them in a planting, and how to manage them (pinching, grooming)
Great ideas, Becky - thanks! 😊
Slugs eat my rudbeckia, I was able to keep the rabbits out of it using row cover.
Good point - row covers are great for keeping rabbits at bay! 🐇🐰🐇 Thanks for watching, Bev! 😊
You grow dill for swallowtails, why not also grow fennel? Or do a session on growing herbs with ornamental. Good idea to grow them in same area or not? How do you manage seed drop from dill (or rudbeckias or others).
Fennel is one of the most important plants in my garden. It's so beautiful and valuable. Northern Ohio.
Fennel would be great, as well! I also grow a lot of parsley for black swallowtail butterflies. I would love to do an episode on herbs 🙂 To reduce self-seeding, it helps to remove the faded blooms before they have produced seeds. Thanks for watching, Becky! 🤗
@@anneharrington7951 I love fennel, as well, Anne! Thanks for watching, and have a wonderful day 🤗
Question for you Lisa. Are your rudbeckia perenials?
Hello, Niluka! For cut-flower production, Lisa recommends growing rudbeckia as an annual. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching! ☺
Do you know when seeds for the new Rudbeckia Plant of the Year will be available? Thanks
Hello, Becky! I did some quick research on 'American Gold Rush' rudbeckia, and it appears that this variety is propagated by cuttings rather than seeds or tissue culture. If you are interested in this variety, you may need to purchase plugs or plants. Hope this helps ☺
@@LayneAngeloTGW Very helpful. I will try to purchase the plant this spring.
Why don't you grow Chinese Asters?
A disease called aster yellows can make growing China asters a challenge in our area. They are beautiful, though! 😍
