  • Golden Spike National Historical Park, located north of the Great Salt Lake in Utah, commemorates the completion of the transcontinental railroad. The final joining of the railroads from the east and west coasts was a ceremonial golden spike. Original designated a National Historic Site in 1957, the park includes monuments honoring the workers, geological features such as Chinese Arch, and of course trains!

Excellent video! Yes Golden Spike is a great historical park and stands as a reminder today to remember the workers who built the railroads which built early America.

Golden Spike National Park is railfan mecca it was here in 1869 the Golden Spike was driven in the ground completing the Transcontinental Railroad. Although most of the line was moved the Transcontinental Railroad is still here. Council Bluff Yard in Omaha to Roseville Yard in Sacramento in two days with North Ogden in the middle. North Ogden is not far from here just 50 miles away and it is here the story of our greatest achievement is told in the displays here at Promontory and inside Union Station.
