- Beit Alpha cucumber has become one of the most popular cucumber types in the world, the result of breeding work on an Israeli kibbutz in the 1930s. There are hundreds of hybrid and open-pollinated Beit Alpha cucumbers today, but Baker Creek offers one closest to the original developed on the Beit Alfa kibbutz in the fertile Harod Valley. THIS IS MY FAVORITE CUCUMBER! I've been growing it for three years now. It rarely goes bitter. It is sweet and while it is slow to start, it quickly makes up and produces bounties of lovely cucumbers!
@@DanScottChannel Its an heirloom so you can as long as you don't have any other varieties that it would cross pollinate with.
@@dollyperry3020 I’m trying to grow these for first time in greenhouse, get tiny cucumbers and then they dry up. Do you know why? Can’t figure out since I understand they are self pollinated.
@@milalyam2429are you watering enough? U gotta remember cucumbers are 90% water so they need a ton of water

I love every one of these videos. Please keep 'em coming.
I’ll be adding this cucumber to my list! I’m driving from Nashville to attend the Spring Festival @ Baker Creek with my cousin. We can’t wait! 🙋🏼🥳
I have grown these for several years now. Thank’s to y’all! We love them!! We grow 3 verities.
1.beit alpha
2 straight eight
3.Japanese long
If. You grow these 3, keep them watered, and picked ( you must keep them picked). You will have cucumbers all summer!
We looooove them!!
Those are the same ones I grow.
Wow thanks for the great video! Someone posted it in an israeli gardening site. Makes me wonder more about beit alfa cuke seeds we can buy in isrsel. Im sorry to say its illegal to buy seeds, plants from abroad. ALL of your seeds have us drooling in israel. What an amazing business of love!
Planted these this summer, just picked a load from three plants, very 😋 yummy
Looks scrumptious! 🥒Thanks for sharing. Really appreciate these well-researched seed stories. Giving the “provenance” makes these heirlooms even more special.
AWESOME!
I haven't put my cucumbers out yet, I'm a bit apprehensive with the Missouri weather flip-floppyness. We'll see what's up in another couple weeks. :)
You do a terrific job with providing the history of seeds. Absolutely fascinating! Please continue to produce these videos. (👍#54 and comment #3). Best wishes. Kate in Olympia, WA
Thank you, Baker Creek Seed Co., for sponsoring the Spring Shindig in Searcy, AR yesterday! And thanks for the free seeds y'all provided to attendees! Here's our video of the event: czcams.com/video/qspWNxdxkZs/video.html
Hmm... now I guess I have to place another order 😂
On the website it says and i quote "A parthenocarpic variety, you can grow in a greenhouse without pollinators." But in this video it says it is not. I am confused as i bought these thinking they were based on website description. Can you please verify with me! Thank you.
So, is it a vine or bush variety? That’s all I want to know and I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere.
Its a vining type!
The seed package doesn't have a days to harvest? How many days?
55 days.
Bummer, I thought all Beit Alphas were parthenocarpic... no wonder why I'm having trouble getting cucs! Oh well, I'll have to look elsewhere for a parthenocarpic cucumber.
I am confused, video says one thing but baker creeks website says they are parthenocarpic. I just put an order in so not sure what to expect
