    May not have been Mountune from Ford but has the pipes and cross over hardware so probably had the map put on too, (Aftermarket) I did that with mine, got the Edition model and Mountune’d it after a year of ownership. Got the hardware first and had a Ford dealer pop the map on. Don’t be too critical on a 65k mile car. Good for the miles, wear n tear. Enjoy 👍🏼

    Once you get this car on track this is where they come alive. I always push my car and sometimes to far but when I got my mk3 it just would not slide. The car needs mega commitment as the grips on another level but through time I got there. When it was on track I was getting good long slides and it was easy to do when pushing the car at its limits and very controllable. Can't wait to see yous get yours on track 👍

    I bought one of these brand new having previously owned an E90 BMW M3.
    I bought it in 2016 when there was a 12+ month waiting list so had never even seen one in the flesh when I collected mine.
    Biggest disappointment ever. The noise was terrible after having a screaming, naturally aspirated V8.
    Suspension was horrific. Way too bouncy. The Recaro bucket seats were mounted so high you felt like you were looking down on the gauges.
    Thankfully it got stolen five months later so I bought an F10 M5 with 8,000 miles on the clock.
    Best move ever getting shot of the over priced Ford. Only time I've ever had a car stolen and only time I was happy about it. Ford security is another weak point.
    Love the videos guys. Love the banter. Your subs are shooting up day by day by 1,000+.

    I've got a Mk 7 Fiesta ST. The official PSI for the tyres is 37 front / 37 rear. It's just far too hard and you feel every bump. The suspension is very firm like with the RS so I find it helps to run, 33 front / 30 rear. It's 3 years old now and never had any common faults with the suspension and bushes etc. Try running yours a little lower, I bet you will find a difference to comfort and you will still stick to the road. I would of bought an RS but I couldn't justify the cost. My car is plenty fun and doesn't cost the earth 👍

  • @crawlerdan
    @crawlerdan Před 3 lety +2

    I find the suspension is best in sport mode. Normal mode is too pogo stick, and race mode is solid. Sport is firmer without the pogo effect.
    Torque steer, mines mapped and makes itself known when on it. Common problem, tyres/tyre pressures and pdc turned off helps.

    Love the look of these. Had a passenger ride in one when I did a track day at Anglesey and the grip was phenomenal. I’ve heard they’re not actually that quick though. I believe they make less than the quoted figures and then the weight of the 4WD blunts the performance too. I reckon your S3 would probably keep up!

    @Scott555ish Před 3 lety +1

    Get Pull Drift Compensation turned off, ensure geo on front is as straight as possible and drop the tyre pressures a touch. But I think the biggest improvement comes if you ditch the Michelin Supersports for PS4.
    Everyone i know running Michelin Supersport (not just on the RS) says they are very road camber sensitive and have a habit of following white lines and centre line crests.
    The mountune induction kit looks like genuine Ford supplued FPM or mountune fitted FPM because the mountune embossed section is black. Maybe it was picked up 2nd hand.

    hi love your video. a genuine mountune has on rear a mountune badge. mine was mountuned by mountune. also get paperwork to show if its genuine.suspension is stiff needs softer springs ie by mountune but lowers ride height by 10-15mm. when floor it it bounces everywhere. on tight twisty roads its sick. on new tarmac its sick and bounces less. only issue is when in an an emergancy situ braking hard and turning sharply the car goes into drift mode. then loose control. i put launch brace on for launch and short shift. all done by mountune.....it is fun but time place and get used it. had mine 3 years. when i floored it my wife was pinned to seat.lol

    That indentation on the middle rear seat is most likely from having the seats down and carrying something fairly heavy. The seat squashes down on the seatbelt connector and leaves a mark - mine went after about a month but I’m careful now!
    I see it’s had it’s head gasket recall completed - have you checked for oil leaks at the rear of the engine yet? It’s a common problem whereby the oil leaks from the head/timing cover join after the recall and the oil accumulates on the turbo oil feed bolt. I thought the recall campaign finished in January this year - did you say it had just been done in the last video?
    There is no update to the ford database when a mountune upgrade is completed on your car as far as I am aware. The only car that will come up as‘mountuned’ on the ford database is the heritage edition.

    That pulling on the steering is the stupid pull drift control thing Ford put on the Mk3. You can get Ford to turn it off and makes it feel a lot safer to drive 👌. Cracking video though!

      I’ve had the PDC turned off and it does drastically reduce the veering steering! I also find the RS to be very sensitive to tyre pressures so stick to the recommended figures.

      @@simonburrows9666 Yes, you're correct. I have a 2018 model I bought new. It didn't pogo on the suspension as the earlier cars do because ford changed the spec for the last models. But veering steering is awful. I had my PDC turned off which helped a lot, but it's still there. Made worse again now by DS 2+ and 3.

    • @brucehep2823

      Do you own an RS? I guess not. Do you know what torque steer is? I guess not. And if you do deliberately switch on the "stupid drift control thing" as you call it, then you can switch it off yourself with a switch in the car cunningly fitted for that exact purpose. If you take your car to Ford to ask them to turn off the Drift Mode, then everyone will know where the "stupid" label belongs.

    • @simonburrows9666
      @simonburrows9666 Před 3 lety +2

      Bruce Heap I would suggest the “stupid”label belongs with you on this occasion as we’re not talking about the drift mode that can be selected within the car! PDC is the pull drift compensator that is there to quietly counteract changes in direction and surfaces but in the RS causes the car to veer violently, especially when accelerating harshly. This function can only be turned off via dealer or ForScan software, not by the drive mode selector in the cabin. If you actually own an RS then I would suggest joining a forum or two to get a more in-depth understanding of your car.

Mine doesn’t have the wild torque steer that yours seems to suffer it could be something simple like it has a cheap set of tyres on it or maybe something more sinister? The Mountune induction kit looks the same as the one fitted to mine as part of the 375 upgrade but it can be bought as a separate kit on its own. Check out Mountune’s website.

    I’m no Ford fan boy but you need to get that car checked properly before concluding that the ride, steering and suspension are broken. As you say, 67000 miles is huge, the tracking could be way off, the tires make a huge difference also, their could be aftermarket coil overs that are cheap or haven’t been set up right etc etc. I’ve read and seen loads of reviews on the RS and yes, the harshness of the ride is normally mentioned, but it isn’t a major factor. Great video btw👍

There are some for the Base Model. And that’s what I have on my RS, but I have to use them over the Carpet Floor Mats cause the Holes don’t line up. And for some reason Weather Tec. Doesn’t make them, just Thin Floor Liners. I would really appreciate a response so I can possibly order them from the UK!

I’ve gone to Ford Dealerships and even called Fords Headquarters and they couldn’t even tell me if they even make them. That’s why I have settled with the Base Model Rubber Floor Mats, but have always been Curious if they make OEM Mats for the RS. I’ve even posted a post on the RS Forum and nobody is familiar with OEM Mats. I just get recommendations for Weather Tec and Husky Brand Floor Mars.

By any chance while finding out this information, were you able to find a website or a link or a number so I can call try and purchase them?

They definitely look different from the Base Model ones I have on my car Currently. I found the front ones for around £32. I was about to start placing the order when I blew up the pic of the Floor Mats and realized that they might not even fit because you guys drive on the right side and we drive on the left in the states. I think this might be a problem for me cause they both open up towards the middle of the car, if that makes sense. Wow I can believe it’s so hard to find these Mats when I’m in the Country of Origin for Ford (US).

    Drift mode is strange and not relatable if you're used to sliding a RWD car. You need to give it full lock in first gear in an open space and just keep it pinned in first. It feels like driving on ice/soap even when its dry. You don't need opposite lock when sliding either.

    I was actually looking at buying this a while ago but went with a 7k ST instead lol
    And no the suspension is not a fault with the RS, it's the same in my ST. Motorway driving 2 hours a day for the past 12 months has gotten really annoying for me, so i've been looking to change to an Audi or Merc of some type, just not sure what. And in the Focus' you don't get much inside in terms of 'stuff' - like on the same price Merc you get reverse cameras, heated seats, electric seats, better sound system, cruise control and all that stuff as standard, on the Focus' it's all extras which not very many of the 2nd hand actually have.
    I'm looking at a Merc or Audi myself now as a year of ownership of the Focus ST has been pretty disappointing so far.
