I'll give 12 points from Australia for an extended cut of the vid with a nip slip
I liked it a LOT more than the snippet that everyone was ripping up. It's different to anything Cyprus has ever sent before. From my memory they only sent female empowerment songs or ethnic bops. This will stand out, especially in semi final 2! Wonder if people will compare the songs based on name with Denmark's song! If Andrew performs well live, Cyprus could shock people!
When I firstly listen to the song I felt ... OK ... but when I heard it again and again, Gosh, this boy rocks! His vocals and the feeling he is transferring threw the lyrics and the melody, wow, its epic! From my point of view, Cyprus 🇨🇾 is a sure qualifier! And if God wants, and Europe and Australia, "Break A Broken Heart 💔" can take the first victory home! 🤞🤞

Very decent entry by Cyprus. The bridge and basically the last 30-40 seconds of the song is absolutely gorgeous. I see this either being Top 10 (9/10 placing) or just missing out (11 -13th placing). At the moment it stands out from all the songs released so far as the only slow to mid tempo song from a solo guy in a sea of bands and female singers, so has that going for him

@@ESCTom I have previous years ones on?😂 just this year I’m trying not to over listen & a lot of the songs just aren’t standing out to me. They’re some good ones but nothing that’s hit my music taste like Cyprus. Maybe I’m just a depressed little bitch who only likes heartbreak songs, who knows 🤷🏻♂️😂x

I also liked this a lot more than I thought I would. It’s a basic pop song but it’s a basic pop song done well, and I think this could be staged nicely. It’s already improved the overall quality of SF2. Plus I like that Cyprus are doing something different - it feels like for the last few years they’ve been trying to repeat the success of Fuego with their entries, so I like that they’ve switched it up this year.

Another decent entry! I hope he can pull it off vocally- he was decent during his performance in Australia Decides, but I wouldn’t call him the strongest vocalist
i guess it depends how much backing track assistance they can give him? also if he stands still its easier to sing

It's surprisingly much better than I expected from the snippet. As you say, not reinventing the wheel or groundbreaking, but it's a good, straightforward pop song which has strong moments (I'm guessing though that he'll have some of those falsettos on the pre-recorded backing track), it's well produced and it builds nicely. And yes, he's quite the looker.
If he doesn't mess up live, Cyprus should be sailing into the final with this.
with 24 points from GRE and AUS, i think hes safely into the final. even without those i still think hed be safely through. i saw a video on twitter where he is able to hit those notes
It’s very contemporary post boy band i.e. Joe Jonas Zayne etc. which isn’t my cup of tea but a really smart choice it has its audience and is something we haven’t really had in Eurovision 👍🏼

It is a good standard pop song, but it would also be a big song at a festival.

I really like this, im fully aware its not groundbreaking but its very competent in its genre and I like this sound, bit reminiscent of René in the german selection but René is going more for grit, this leans into vocal gymnastics a bit more, like that run that he does throughout the song, if he can do that live itll be very impressive.
So far with the selected entrys we have, nothing sounds like this (which admittedly a bit unusual, you'd expect some more entries like this typically), Id like to see this qualify studio version wise because its a sound I listen to (along with ballads and the occasional rock song). I hope its staged well (also I didnt hate the conch for Cyprus's staging last year *although it wasnt what I expected*, it was more so that staticness of the performance, out of sync dancing and flat vocal that was the issue, I never really have issues with Cyprus's staging so I hope that continues.
yea true, cos really this is just a standard great pop song, but it still stands out right now at this point.
i liked soe of the elements of the staging last year on paper, but in the end it just didnt work all together. but generally they hit the mark
I'm not sure how average this song is, but it's definitely way way more powerful and entertaining than the Netherlands you were celebrating yesterday 😏
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this. I just wish the official video didn't focus so much on his good looks and abs/pecs. Y'know we deride that sexualisation of female artists, but the same should apply to male artists too. He actually has a really good voice, the song was nicely structured, and i would prefer to see those aspects taken seriously when, at the end of the day, this is a song contest.
However, having said all that, oh my gosh, yes... he is kinda hot isn't he😍
lol in fairness, the barely showed any bare bod and i was still transfixed. i edited out a bit for 15 seconds where i stopped talking 😂

To explain the MV, it's not a tinder date, they've been together for a while. He's proposing to her, he holds up a ring on a chain. She turns him down, they argue and she leaves. So the song is about rebuilding after heartbreak.
It's a decent pop song, not a sound I was expecting from Cyprus, but the lyrics leave a lot to be desired (especially from someone whose first language is English). The whole thing depends on how it sounds live. If I recall, he didn't have the strongest vocals in Australia Decides 2022. For now I would say this is a qualifier but idk how well it would do in the final. Also 8:55 THE SHADE

A very well produced package but then we expect that from Panik Records. The live will be all important.
Yes, there does seem to be some difficult vocal parts to this but if he can successfully overcome these hurdles then qualification should be guaranteed in semi 2
Again, in the lower parts of my top 10 but will surely drop!
But then again, this year is disappointing me, so could stay right there.

you should download it, its really great on headphones. BUT dont have the volume turned up cos the starting 10 second will deafen you 😂

I really disagree with you Tom about the final placement. This can easily finish top 10. Its very easy to listen to and it’s accessible. Serbia is clever but I think it will finish below Cyprus if they both perform like this

I love Ela from last year and I think the staging was beautiful, the problem was Andromache's vocals, she sounded bad and seemed nervous and not in control. this year songs, like most songs so far is just meh

Awwwe, the song isn't bad.... It's just too much in the realm of John Legend, Sam Bruno, The Weekend. And, being American coming from the land of all three it's very meh. I just wanted better from Cyprus. I wanted ethnobop, I wanted uniqueness not just something run of the mill. Between this and Italy, I'd take Italy's ballad... At least I can listen to it and think... Yeah this is very Italian. Where I listen to this and think generic.

When you make videos take into account that you are not addressing Dubliners but all Europeans . Beautiful Irish accent but you demonstrate no effort to be understood by others but Irish and British

i think the best way to manage that is to adjust the speed setting on the video in the bottom right corner, cos if i talk slower, i get complaints too. i might put a graphic in at the start of the video saying that, as i think a lot of people dont know that function is there
