Some stores accept crypto but the Saturday organic market is not one of those places. There might be a few people in there who would take crypto. A friend who grows and sells edible mushrooms like Shitake and Lion's mane will accept BTC for his mushrooms 🍄

Question - how do you know the fruit and veggies are organic ( no fertilizer)? Is there a government or local overnight?
There is an expat ran accountability system in place. The cooperative does regular random farm drop ins often to check to see that their farming practices are truly organic. It's an amazing and trustworthy program.

I previously thought that all of Ecuador is organic only, no Monsanto allowed, no artificial pesticides herbicides whatsoever but maybe I was mistaken. If this market is in villabamba, I wonder what organics can be found elsewhere ? It sounds like the only one in villabamba anyway
Hey Carl, as far as we know Ecuador is non-gmo, but there are chemical pesticides in the country. The organic market in Vilcabamba ensures that the food sold by those certified vendors has not been sprayed with glyphosate. There are about 5 organic tiendas here in Vilcabamba as well as the Saturday organic market. I hope this helps.

It's Guayusa. You can also buy Coca leaves here. Very energizing indeed. Good for high altitude
Everyone except you appears to be quite cold. Was it cool out that day?
Sometimes at 8am it can be 62 degrees before it warms up to 75-85 degrees during the day.

Guayusa grows in the Vilcabama area? I thought it grew at lower elevations in the Amazon region.
Guayusa grows in the Vilcabamba area. I have a few friends who have tall trees. It probably originates from the Amazonian region but definitely grows here 😄
@@AbundantLivingEcuador Thanks, good to know! 🌱 i make my coffee by pouring over thw grounds with guayusa tea and it takes the edge off the caffeine jitters because of theanine in the guayusa. I also like Guayusa with lemon, ginger and honey. 🍋🍵🍯
Guayusa is amazing. I love it too. The theanine balances the caffeine. The tree here produces so many leaves.
Fake honey will definitely crystalize as well, usually faster. Really depends on the nectar collected.
Come from the "easter egg" breeds. 3 of which are easily found in the states.
Oh wow, that's interesting information. Thankfully we know these vendors and their bee hive locations and process. It doesn't get much better than the wild honey produced here.
