  • This is my custom router table build for my workshop...I finished building my workshop in December 2018, so if 2018 was the year of the workshop build, 2019 has been the year of the workshop build-out!
    This is the 4th major workshop project, after the Mitre-saw Station, Drill Charging Station & the Assembly/Outfeed table - all available to view on my channel!
    The table is 4' x 2' made from 3/4" plywood, and 1 3/4" MDF for the top. It's finished off with Oak Drawers fronts, Oak Trim & Oak Rails & Stiles for the Router compartment door.
    The orange accents were to add a bit of colour to the workshop & like all my shop furnitire projects, to practise some different methods & styles
    The fence, plate & track were purchased as a kit from Axminster Tools
    Fence - www.tagserve.c...{TAG.AID}
    Router Plate - www.tagserve.c...{TAG.AID}
    On/Off Switch - www.tagserve.c...{TAG.AID}
    My router is the Trend T11EK 1/2" - it's a beast!

    I loved the duct tape trick for the brad nails. That's very clever.

      @@DeerRiverCraftsman :
      i have framing, a couple finish, a brad, and a pin nailer…..i’ve never used tape.
      how does the tape help?
      btw, why isn’t the fence longer?
      does jjk make different lengths?
      another question if you don’t mind, are you using that car jack to raise and lower the router?
      i really like that the table is extra long.
      i’m building ne at 36”, but having more table is always useful.
      yours looks like it’s around 4 feet.
      nice build.

    Good stuff. I‘ll get around to building a router table one of these days. I‘ve put it off for 9 years now, haha. Thanks for the inspiration!

    As a custom cabinet guy I see things differently that most viewers. I think that putting a edge tape on all edges makes the piece nicer, why not invest in a router lift? The way you bore your doors is functional but a 35mm bore bit on your drill press is much more accurate. Keep at it!

    Wow! That build is beautiful! Your videos should have way more views! I'm surprised YT hadn't recommended your channel so far. I've searched all over the Internet and YT for a router table build, your vids didn't show up even on the search results. Try adding hashtags to the video description, it might help.
    Liked and subbed, will share your vids with my friends.

It was rather scary that I thought I had just lost almost $15 dollars (10 pounds) Look forward to putting this to task! (Tried to purchase your plans but it took my money (PayPal) and errored out! )

  • @randy-yk1yk
    @randy-yk1yk Před 4 lety

    I was wondering what finish you put on the top. I haven't had a lot of luck with MDF. Set down a coffee mug and I'm sanding out a high spot. Oils don't work and poly is not a good choice if it's going to get gouged. I tried laminate but it wore through the finish very quickly. I'm ready to just get the stuff out of my shop :).

    • @jamesplace5622
      @jamesplace5622 Před 4 lety +1

      Glad I wasn’t the only one that noticed this. You always run a router left to right on your piece. When viewed from above your router bit turns clockwise. By running left to right the bit cutting effectively pulls the router tight into the piece. Run the way you are and you’ll be fighting the bit constantly pushing itself off the piece.
