- Go to Dark Gethsemane
Go to dark Gethsemane,
All who feel the tempter's pow'r;
Your Redeemer's conflict see,
Watch with Him one bitter hour;
Turn not from His griefs away;
Learn from Jesus Christ to pray.
Follow to the judgment hall,
View the Lord of life arraigned;
Oh, the wormwood and the gall!
Oh, the pangs His soul sustained!
Shun not suff'ring, shame, or loss;
Learn from Him to bear the cross.
Calv'ry's mournful mountain climb;
There, adoring at His feet,
Mark that miracle of time,
God's own sacrifice complete.
"It is finished!" hear Him cry;
Learn from Jesus Christ to die.
Early hasten to the tomb
Where they laid His breathless clay;
All is solitude and gloom.
Who has taken Him away?
Christ is ris'n! He meets our eyes.
Savior, teach us so to rise.

beautiful hymn, beautiful voice, beautiful words - what beauty it is to be a child of God - praise be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍Thank you!
@geoneil11 ikr..."Mark that Miracle of time, God's own sacrifice complete" builds up to is and is very meaningful for me...
@LutheranWarbler God is glorified and praised through your work! You have a grear talent to share--you're so very blessed!! Please, keep turning them 'em out and I'll keep listening! I love you and your amazing musical abilities!! God blees you always, beautiful one of His! P.S. Can you do a duet w/ an alto, sometime---that'd be extra nice with alittle harmony added!
@hymnsinger5 Thank you! God bless!
It is so wonderful to go to page and know that fellow Christians are listening to these songs. same as I am. Your voice is beautiful! Did you ever think of doing some of these great songs in duet, with an alto? You might have to practice abit, 'cause alto takes alittle extra rehearsal since they sing harmony, not melody. Anyway you sing like an angel! And you, and most of those commenting, just made me smile soo big!! I feel like God is touching my heart through song and praises to Him! God b
One of my favorites! I almost always break down at the phrase, "learn from Jesus Christ to die" Wow! What amazing, yet untapped, theology! Thanks for sharing!
@BruderPhilippMelanch By His wounds, we are healed. Praise be to our crucified and risen Lord!
nice job!
@geoneil11 I, too, find that Lenten hymns in particular provide some of the starkest examples of lyrical theology. I'm glad we don't sing them year 'round though, or I would have to explain to the rest of the congregation why I am bawling all through the service!
"It is Finished!" Hear him cry.....It is all done...sin forgiven..and eternal life with God restored.
I like how it was put once....Jesus said to the devil....."You Lose!"
Thanks again for sharing.
Very good and clearly enunciated. Sharing. I've never sung the last verse before because during Good Friday services we skip that one. Good to finally learn the words!
@trumpmech Thanks! This hymn is one of my favorites, so I'm thrilled to expose more people to it!
@deanoffunks1 There is nothing more beautiful than being loved, forgiven, and redeemed! God's blessings and peace to you!
One of my favorites. It's #109 in the Green LBW :-)

@bat3606 Haha, somehow "It is finished" is a bit more powerful than "You lose" but the point is certainly the same. And the victory is ours, in Christ, as well!
Pretty, but I like Bach's version better. Can't find a recording of it, but it pwns!
No I did go to a lawyer.
