In this video I am going to show you how to setup a Tagged VLAN in the UniFi Network Controller so that 2 switch ports are configured to only allow tagged VLAN ID 30 traffic for my 2 PBX devices (telephones).
However I am not going to explain what Tagged & Untagged VLAN traffic is as it is not what this video is about, but if you want to know what Tagged/Untagged VLAN traffic is then please use your brain and do some research by using a search engine to find articles on the internet, there are lots of them!

Good Video, I opted to go with LLDP-MED, setup a tagged vLAN 20(VOIP) and untagged native vlan 10(Data/PC network). Plugging the yealink phones into the PoE Ports directly and the computers into the phones. No need to statically assign vLAN IDs and IPs to each network device (thats a lot of work) in my case we have 48 VOIP Phone end points on our network lol.
But ended up pricing out equipment and opted to go fill Unifi for simplicity for those future network admins that dont know what they are doing when I retire.. haha. We did price out Fortinet and could not get approval because they were "Nice to haves" where we did not 80% of the featuers that ent gear offers.. compared to the powerful but simple unifi line..
Thanks for the kind words and info about your setup, made interesting reading. Sounds like a good solution. Yeah that certainly would have been time consuming work with 48 phones. I'm currently working on a series of Grandstream videos if you're interested, they produce some great pieces of kit and they are one of the top VOIP devices suppliers/manufacturers. Yealink are good phones with great user interfaces as I've used them in the past. I did read/see some info about them being a Chinese brand and of course sending data back to China, however I doubt that is actually happening. I'm currently trying out Grandstream phones which look pretty similar to Yealink, these G ones also have great features and user interfaces, very reliable. I'm also working on Grandstream networking products videos if you look at my channel. I'm going to be doing a few VoIP videos which I've got on my list to do, although I wounldn't be setting up 48 of course but you get the idea. you could set native VLAN/ Network to PBX (30) which will make it untagged (default) and then block all . Good video

I was going to make the exact same comment that @Alex-gz6hs made and just delete the VLAN setting on the VOIP phone. Assuming there's no other device connected to the VOIP phone.

Thanks very much Chris, it's a difficult subject to explain and it took me some time to get the wording right so it's easy to understand, so glad you found it so.
I am also getting in to doing a series of network videos using Grandstream, so I'm intending getting in to explaining VLANS/Tagged etc in future videos, so feel free to keep a look out for those. Just something to consider as an alternative to Ubiquiti should anyone want an alternative and which has decent pricing.

I install Unifi, Mikrotik and other brands when I setup point to point bridges and IOT systems. I'm no networking expert but I have decent knowledge. I find your videos very helpful.
