I taught in room 306 for 8 years! I LOVED that building!!! It had so much storage and all that beautiful architecture just added to the environment! I smiled the whole time I watched this as I knew exactly where you were at many spots! Again...sad that this is what has become of this historic lace! Thank you!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I went to the school in 90s
Honestly...my first thought was of a teacher and student that went there... here's both!
That school is so we'll BUILT!
It really should be saved one way or another.... Amazing!
I install Terrazzo at schools all over the country....
I feel bad for that school :(
So many childhood memories
I went there from 84 to 89 (K-5th grade)
I was a student at Heberle Elementary School from 1988-1994, K thru 5th grade. It was kind of eerie seeing all these locations in the building that I remember as a child being so dilapidated looking now. They shut the school down in 2007 I believe due to student overcrowding and safety concerns, the building was outdated for the increase in students. This video was a bit unsettling to see, but it was neat as well. I remember that memorial fountain just like it was yesterday. Thanks for sharing this video!!
Small world! Hopefully it brought back some good memories. You might recognize some other places we’ve made videos on from the area.
Jason King my mom used to teach at Heberle.
I lost my elementary school bk in '06, I believe. And sr. high, earlier. Both for NO reason. It was HEARTBREAKING!😟 Do what you can to save it.
Was the school in Cincy?
I’m in tears watching this. This is my old school. Went there in the 90s from Kindergarten to 8th grade until I went to Western Hills High School. Man we had so much fun. And we use to break in at night and run around in the dark playing hide go seek 😂😂😂 I miss the 90s man. Thank you so much for having the courage to go inside and explore. Heberle will be missed.
Gotta be a dtw baby
The painted wood windows thing is about eye appeal. Cities do it all the time to make the city look less worn down even with the buildings be abandoned.
There's a church in my area where they did this but the windows are painted a bright sky blue. Just makes the place look creepy lol...
I hope that this building is utilized for some purpose. It looks solid and is a shame it is unused. I do enjoy videos of abandoned places especially places in Ohio so I hope you make more
the quality of this footage is superior
Beautiful school. Glad they are going to do something with it. Great clarity on the camera, just slow down a bit when
turning around..... makes me dizzy :) Great find. Thanks for sharing. God Bless and keep you safe.
The schools was built much nicer with character back than .with high ceilings crown molding ETC ...just gorgeous !
It looked like a lot pride went into building this school. It needs to be saved.
I agree they don’t make them like this anymore
these old schools means nothing to a lot and everything to those with memories
poo on the stairs gross .... love the fireplace that was awesome
The fireplace definitely makes up for the poop 😜
I'd burn those shoes if I was you.
I just watched this for the first time! I taught there from 2001-2005. It was a Cincinnati Public School. Not a Catholic School but I can understand your inference because of the way it was designed .
Storage under the chalk board was to keep chalk and erases.
Beautiful old school. It's a shame that someone removed all of the radiators. A beautiful old school right next to my house was just renovated and they ripped out all of the beautiful old wood work and crystal chandeliers that were in the hallways. Now the inside of this school is plain and boring.
My Junior High School was turned in to apartments. I’m so happy they made use of that school and wasn’t left to rot.
Exploring closed old school buildings in Cincinnati it has always amazing me how the water fountains are works of art using Rookwood tiles. A fireplace? Beautiful.
Great explore thanks for bringing us along!
Awesome video, your channel just popped up in my recommendations. You have a lot great locations on here, I just subscribed.
I have been doing abandoned on my channel for about a year as well. Nothing quite as good as this, but slowly building it.
Thank you for all that you do, and as always be safe out there my friends
Welcome. It is definitely an addiction!
Great video. Love them old historic buildings. Just watch your step. 😄
No doubt. We’re going to be given him shit for a long time 😜
What a great old building!! All the built ins and details! Awesome fireplace, I've never seen one in a school. What was that room for?
Glad to see it wasn't trashed! Hope it gets saved. Your new equipment was worth it! Thanks for a great video!!
Thanks Ron for noticing! I thought the same thing about the built-ins and fireplace. You just don’t see that in today’s schools.
Parochial schools were like that. Bk in the day. Their marching orders came from priests, bishops, etc. Not "just" politicians.
That fireplace may have been in the teacher's lounge
@@kathy2trips I hope when (if) they remodel it, they keep it.
Great exploration. Looks like a really neat building. Keep up the good work.
. wow!! Truly amazing!
I hope the city utilizes the building in some manner. If not, I hope that someone gets salvage rights and saves so many of the nice architectural elements such as the fireplace surround, and the large wood dividing doors. Thanks for the video.
A ray of sunshine. There are actually lumber yards that deal in exactly what you have described should be salvaged.I have worked on a demolition crew and whenever the crew does a turn-of-the-century property they definitely salvage anything these lumber yards will buy for resale. Many times local historical societies have a contact for these type of lumber yards for individuals who are restoring properties to their originality and need materials of the time era.
Weird someone crapped on the stairs, that was gross. Otherwise this was a nice explore, the architecture is amazing! Fireplace was very unique.
Yes, love the new go pro! New to your videos, great job. I've subscribed!
Terri the fact that you liked the new footage enough to comment really makes me happy. Thank you! 😃
I love the fireplace and the whole building
I was in that school a couple of times prior to it closing, the entire place smelled like old school cafeteria food. There are also some very beautiful turn of the century home's in that area, it was a wealthy area at one time. Unfortunately people and businesses are moving further and further out, population and tax base is dwindling, regentrification process is also temporary in the area . But these places are slowly being forgotten and with the economy heading for a down turn, these treasures will slowly decay and become lost memories, beautiful school. Enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Beautiful Rookwood tile work on fireplace and fountain .
I watched this video, your intro video to your channel, and I subscribed!
Awesome! I need to make a new intro with all of the best stuff from the other videos but it’s hard to make that a priority over making new videos. So glad you enjoyed. Welcome 🙏
PEACE LOVE AND HAPPINESS to all of you out there
Always wondered what this beautiful building looked like inside
This reminds me of a school I just was part of redoing in Richmond Indiana, aside from the nice fireplaces and all the nice woodwork, which was probably already "updated" once back in 92. But at least that school got a new life with some new cabinets on my part
Awesome fireplace @5:59!!
I like the new look myself. Love this school, great video
This is so incredible thanks ! Enjoying these videos. Apart from the dirty protest on the stairs. Reminds me of a Tom cat leaving his scent dirty boy, great job tho on the style of your channel.
Thank you 🙏 I appreciate the ❤️
Great adventure. Thanks
This was a fascinating journey. Would love to do something like this but too chicken. I salute your brave explorer spirits.
Amazing woodwork!
This is James Barrow it's a cool school it's looking good condition and good shape and it can be saved and turn it to apartments
Cincinnati Art Works goes around OTR painting the boarded up windows to look like real windows so it doesn't look so bad. You'll see it all over downtown and OTR
I agree and it makes sense. It does look a lot better that way.
Awesome 👍 fireplace.
This is a legacy from depression era America....A lot of public school buildings were constructed then; look up the programs. These buildings could not be built today because of the expense. Solid framing, extensive brick and stone work, heavy duty interiors marble floors oak woodwork. These buildings are solid and can last for hundreds of years if properly maintained....
A hidden room with a couch, in a catholic school. I fear maybe some bad stuff may have happened there over 70 years.
Back in the day Mrs Schlimer the art teacher and Sister Gatz the home ec teacher used that room for some pretty wild times with male facility members.
Hell yeah! Would have loved to be the one giving out spankings to bad girls3>
@@timberwolfpowler8747 😏Or whomever.
Public Schools are much more dangerous than Catholic Schools.
Today’s Public School “teachers” are deranged, amoral communists and pedophiles.
Awesome video Guys 👏👏👏👏 Your video reminds me of my old elementary school. They turned it in to a historical society building. BTW remember sh-t happens lol.
Glad you enjoyed it! And yes it does!
I've had a visit their when it was open with students about 14 yrs ago, im still in Cincinnati working.
I wish I can purchase this building and redo it for the homeless here. It’s not in bad shape.
I'd hope it would be fixed up/reno so it could be used as a school again.
However, it would make an awesome apartment building. Those school rooms are huge and could each be an apartment. There's already a gym, locker rooms. Keep basketball, add equipment elsewhere.
...oh..I just heard you mention lofts! Cool! Glad to have such beautiful architecture kept beautiful!
looks awesome
Nice sharp video!
What a beautiful massive building
That school is newer than the Middle school of the city that I live in , which is still in use today . Chalk that one up to the illegal funding of Ohio schools .
you should explore the Haunted Bissman bldg. or the State reformatory in Mansfield Ohio..
Great school good work guys
Thanks! It’s gonna take a while to get rid of that smell.
That place is in great shape. One of the coolest I've ever scene
Even if they convert it, they'll still gut it. That's the problem. The new owners will destroy/throw-out most the interior.😟
You guys should check out the orphanage on river road in maumee ohio?
Killer spot! Nice work on the video guys. If ever in the Cleveland area hit me up, I’ve got plenty of spots.
Would love to know of some spots near Cleveland man
Cleveland gal now south. Plenty of places to play in Cleveland
Cool your vids are great
Enjoyed the video...
Abandoned schools are cool, strange no pool
That school doesn't look like it's in That bad of shape
The fancy mosaic water fountain was really cool! Sorry about you getting in some poo poo! LOL! GREAT EXPLORE! Really cool building!
Solid explore guys. Keep it up! I read the prices of the proposed condo units and I can't see how people with $200-$400K will buy in that area. Seems pretty optimistic....
We said the same thing. That explains why the project didn’t takeoff. $400,000 condo and 90% chance you’re going to get mugged or worse.
The area is being gentrified. There are a lot of renovations going on close to there. Findley Street Market is really cool. They have really great Gyros there and A Taste of Belgium can't be beat!
Never been there. We’ll definitely have to check it out 😎
@@OnceOccupied
I live on Dayton st. really close and I think it's a lovely place to live, btw 909 Dayton sold a year ago for $550,000.
It's sad it's just sitting there wasting away
Looks good!
Thanks David!
I am 8 mins away from that school right now. Wow
i gave a like just for the fireplace footage!
Yesssss!!!!
Those wood panel doors in the gym is crazy. Those are worth a pretty penny.
All hardwood. Stuff is hard to come by anymore.
I went to that school in kindergarten around 94/95 and where you was standing at the end was my classroom
I WENT TO HEBERLE MAN THT BROUGHT BCK MEMORIES GREAT VIDEO 🤟🏿
It WAS worth it. Extremely cool fireplace. When did it close?
Pl do a video of the old massie high school in harveysburg there's never been one done.
Good morning!
That was one hell of a way to start an explore!
Just found this video late Dec. '22. I am amazed at how much thought went into the aesthetics of bldgs. a century ago. Entrances such as this one must have been INSPIRATION TO STUDENTS!!!!
My birthday 😎
The school bell still fings??? Oh how I remember that bell 🙂!!!
Great video and very stable! Where’s the guy hiding?
Is that linwood school on eastern, lol I'm from there an I remember when that school an my school McKinley came together to make that new one on stilts...
You guys have been to a lot of cool places. I want to find a small old school, church, theater, library, storefront retail building, cool old house with large extra building... Ok... SOMETHING cool to live/work in. Have you come across anything like that in Ohio (anywhere but Northern), Eastern Indy, NW WV, Northern Ky or Western Pa???
I'm planning to move back home (or close to it) in about a year and it's hard to find the perfect space from Dallas. Seriously.
So, I wonder who Joseph Heberle was. The ornate, decorative fountain in the school hallway was dedicated in his memory. And the outside sign said that the building was going to be re-developed into the "Heberle Lofts." So who was Joseph Heberle?
Briefly attended Heberle too.
I remember going to heberle I remember the principal Henri Bradshaw Miss. Marcus Miss Foley
Great quality of video! Beautiful building. Hope they salvage the wood, the eagles, and that huge fireplace when they turn it into lofts.
One thing--the music didn't enhance the video. In fact, it was pretty annoying. Might want to leave it out or try something different.
This is the average school in Ohio 💀💀💀💀💀
Awesome video
Thanks Steve!
Once occupied welcome. Love all your video's. Thats why i subscribe.
I really appreciate it!
Ohio love it
i’m going to explore this place tonight!!
Are you still alive?
@@SolitudeAwaits yes lmao
@@andrianaolivencia2522 looks like no ghost or something. But I still wouldn't go there in a daylight
Beautiful school ! It’s a shame they couldn’t make offices or apartments out of it.
What school is that what school district and what city and state it looks very interesting and when was the building built and what will they do with it in the future what will they make it into it looks like it would be another nice place for another school to come back in again
hope it can be saved
I'd like to see more oldest schools
Did you find the old dentist office in heberle school.
Inside the date on that school might be a time capsule
That sounds nothing short of amazing. If I’m in that part of the country again I’ll swing by and see if it’s falling apart enough to pull it back. As long as it doesn’t do any damage. I like to stay out of trouble
I'm surprised that mosaic is still there. This sch. looks alot like Memphis Elementary. On the inside.
I was there head start in 89-6th grade graduation in 98
ohio has so many abandoned buildings why don't some kind of groups help them be used for homeless and vets.to much shit goes to waste
I’m from Youngstown. They don’t give a fuck about homeless and won’t make any money directly or indirectly from it so it ain’t gonna happen. But no one will stop you if you want to go do it anyway
@@oAzurful why should they give a fuck most re junkies and don't appreciate shit anyway.
😒I wonder were all the churches, ministries, charities, fundraisers, etc. who c/d do just that? Easily, if they pooled their funds/donations.
Demolition companies stopped tearing them down/cannibalizing them when the city stopped paying them.$$
I know of someone who worked on that very issue in Columbus OH. He worked on it for well over a year. He had to jump through many hoops, meet with local leaders, etc. Finally, when it looked like the deal would be made, OSU came in and bought the old school. This happened 3+ years ago and the beautiful old building still sits empty/unused.
I've been looking at both types of videos (videos that show the pretty side of a city, and videos that show abandoned buildings, houses, or ghettos of a city) and what I've seen from explorers like you is such extreme differences. I've seen some of these extremes with my own eyes, like recently in Georgia I saw some beautiful well built and kept homes and city areas, while I also saw some things falling apart. I guess I'm still fascinated by all of this because I'm always afraid of natural disasters or some economical or tyrannical regime making me homeless and I like to see how these bullies can justify running me off time and time again while there are so many abandoned "shelters" just like this school, that nobody is using and could provide a roof for a homeless person when there are no other shelters....
Wow! :)
Reminds me of my high school. My school was burned down by arsonists in 1972. Some kid was pissed about something or other.
I’d love to have one of those real slate blackboards!
