Thanks so much 😊
Love this and I've just started watching the video. #mynextproject
I'm so glad Carol! Thank you!!
I absolutely love primitive. These are super cute. What spices do you use for your grudgy/rusty/dirty stuff. I don't know what to call it lol.
I just found your grubby candle video ❤❤
Hi Kayla, thank you! I'm so glad you like them. I use several different spices cloves (crushed and whole), cinnamon, all spice, pumpkin spice and coffee. So people just use cinnamon, so it is you preference really.
I have a video about grubbying candles and wood stars.
@@KayXoXo4 lol i was just telling you I had one when this popped up. So glad you found it!
Hi Shelly… I’m new to your channel & am enjoying it. Watching from CA. What is in your spice mix.
Hello and Welcome Debbie! I use a mix of cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, all spice, cloves and coffee. I show you in this video I will post a link below. The only change I have made is I used move coffee to make my mix darker. -> czcams.com/video/xb8ZyUD95vM/video.html
Love the rust effect. What spices do you use?
Thank you Jennie! I use cinnamon, all spice, cloves (whole and powder), pumpkin spice, and coffee. I have a grubby candle video and I show how I make it. Some just use cinnamon and that works great too. It depends on the color you are looking for.
I have tins to repurpose as well do I have to prep the tins with anything before I start painting? Thank you 😍
i would spray or seal the tin if it's shiny. Just to dull down to a matte for the paint to stick better. Have fun!
I've been painting cans for years but I need some advice. How do you get the paint to not chip underneath the lid? Every time I paint the spot where the lid comes in contact with the can, it always gets stuck and chips the paint.
I have used polycrylic, I have used all types of sealer but to no avail. Even years later, it still sticks and continues to chip the edges. Any advice?
I would start by spraying sealer on the can before you ever start painting. Sometimes the shininess of it makes the paint not stick so well. Also use a wax instead of a sealer after painting. Buff, Let it sit to cure for a few days and see what that does. I hope that helps. Good luck!
Question: I noticed you adhered your label in the 1st project with hot glue instead of Mod Podge. Are there pros & cons to doing that or have you found them to be equally successful when adhering labels to metal? I'm new to decoupage & appreciate any insights. Thanks!
Great question Deb. On the first one I adhered the paper to a scrap piece of drop cloth. I like using the hot glue when I can, because it’s instant stick. But it doesn’t always like to stick to metal or a painted surface. It did work well in this case though. It you want guaranteed stick I would use the mod podge. It would have full coverage hold, instead of the bead of glue. But like in the second project, if you are adhering the paper directly to the project it is best to use mod podge or a liquid glue sealer of your choice. I hope that answers your questions.
@@RepurposedMyWay Very helpful. Thanks!
@@debkincaid2891 You are very welcome 😊
I love your channel what is a spice grubby mixture
Thanks Lisa! I use a whole Dollar Tree container of cinnamon, all spice, cloves, pumpkin spice and a full package of instant coffee. Depending on how dark you want it, use less coffee for a lighter mix and more coffee for a darker one. The mix in this video is a lighter mix for reference. Just cinnamon works just as good, but is a lighter mix. I prefer the darker and chunkier mix. Hope this helps. : )
Cool I'll bet it smells good do you clear coat it after I'm a manager at a Dollar tree so supplies should be easy to find
And thank you for answering a question I've had a lot of people and frustration in the CZcams world that don't answer questions it makes me sad I am learning crafting at 54 and would really love to learn more so thank you for your detailed crafting
@@lisafulkerson2898 it does smell good. Yes I coat it with mod podge. It works great for me. Although, if you do it on a regular wax candle it will not burn, so it would only be for looks.
@@lisafulkerson2898 Working for Dollar Tree must have some good perks. You get to see all the new items that come it too.
I think that’s great you want to learn. It’s a good outlet for me and I love to help inspire if I can. 💕
