  • Bought this at the flea market for 10 USD. Running but 1 o'clock marker off dial and was moving around. Looks like 21 jewel. Stainless steel back, base metal case. Colored hands and hour markers with sharpie.

      If Bill Gates wears the watch on your video, people will assume it is a real Rolex, cos why not? He's Bill Gates.
      However, if you or I wear a genuine Rolex (not slagging about your taste or demeanor, but hey, you're buying a $10 Fake Rolex cos you appreciate the automatic movement insdie it) --- People will assume its a fake Rolex.
      So yeah, I'll wear a fake Rolex cos even if I wore the real thing, I'm not posh enough like Bill Gates and people will say "he's wearing a knock-off"
      All these guys saying the own the real one, how many times you have to convince folk its real?

      Some Chinese brands are starting to do that, making their own stuff and seriously working towards building a reputation and a brand image rather than just owning a few factories that produce off brand basic products or make counterfeits on the sidelines by copying what they were originally contracted to make. I have much more respect for that kind of Chinese product than the brandless stuff that get's sold to other companies to put a brand tag on and sell in a discount store, or a counterfeit producer.

      +coojsta69 I have been wearing a fake Rolex Milguass "replica" for three years. It is the best watch I have. I have several Seiko 5's and an Omega Constellation(real). I had a real Rolex Turnograph last year that I wish I'd never sold. It was better than my fake--but only because it had a white gold bezel. In my experience, regardless of the fake brand attached to the watch, you get more watch for your money buying a $200-$300 fake rolex. Mine hacks and handwinds.

      Yeah it's quite impressive the automatic movement seems to be working just fine.
      However I'd never trust it as you can tell the materials quality is sub par, they don't care about it lasting a long time since it's not their brand and reputation on the line, that casing looks like it would start corroding from the moisture of your skin, the dial had already fallen out when he bought it, and I would not have high hopes of water resistance.
      Quite interesting to see that they put all the effort into a movement that appears to work, only wrap it in the appearance of a Rolex to make a quick buck rather than developing a good domestic watch market brand for China like Seiko did in Japan.

    • @EhRandomGuy
      @EhRandomGuy Před 8 lety

      According to what my father said : When he used to live there as a student before moving to Canada, Mechanical watches from local CHinese factories weren't that great, they were like the equivalent of cheap sub-$30 watches that were now sold in Walmart. People would usually buy watches with either Swiss or Japanese movements instead. What was greatly valued at the time were digital watches, praised for their accuracy.
      It's funny how things have turned around from his point of view.
      Also, I don't think it'd be worth buying anything of that level of quality when Seiko and Citizen make pretty good watches.

      +rmwtsou Err lets see hmm? Cyclops does not magnify to 2.5 like a real Rolex would, heck it doesn't even magnify! So what's the point of it being on there! The date takes up all the window, where on a real Rolex it would not. Cheap nasty unmarked Chinese automatic movement inside. The inside of the case cover is marked, but with utter crap just taking the piss out of you. The back of the case cover isn't marked, nor has any serial/reference numbers of any kind. The band it came with is of absolute crappy quality too, which of course the case is of the same crappy quality metal.
      If you can't afford a Rolex, either save up till you get a good vintage piece (not stuff from before the 50's, as they would be hard and expensive to service), a recent pre-owned or just forget about it and go for a lesser brand. Tudor is the brand lower to Rolex and has traditionally made pieces similar to their parent brand. Nowadays it's trying to pass off as it's own unique brand, but there are many pieces which are direct offshoots from the parent Rolex and are considerably cheaper. Many vintage pieces even used Rolex parts (crown, back case etc), it's just the brand name and logo changed.

      I am amazed to see someone with so much hatred toward a little watch. Your fervor for Allmighty Rolex borders on religious zeal. Imagine if this was a person! It is just a cheap throwaway TIME PIECE used to tell the time for God's sake. To me, it is no different than a pair of socks or gloves. Just don't buy it if you don't like it. No need to machine-gun it to death or burn it at the stakes. But then, I fully realize that when it comes to religion, there is no arguing with some people, as San Bernardino fully illustrates.

    • @LordDavid04
      @LordDavid04 Před 8 lety +11

      rmwtsou Wait you're comparing my disgust of fake/replica watches over a mass shooting (I'm Australian btw, massacre free since 1996!), the simple fact that this watch is counterfeit is enough to bludgeon it to pieces. If you want something to tell the time, then get yourself a real watch, not this fake. I was merely pointing out all the reasons as to why it's not a "perfectly good watch" as you put it.
      Oh, I need a new watch, might go out to the flea market and buy me a fake Rolex, as opposed to going to my nearest discount/department store and get a reasonably priced real watch.

    • @LordDavid04
      @LordDavid04 Před 8 lety +3

      ***** That's why you buy pre-owned. I have a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date. ref 1550, and that wasn't an expensive piece, it was under $1500 US, which for a piece from the 70's without box or original papers is rather good.

    • @LordDavid04
      @LordDavid04 Před 8 lety +3

    It's actually a decent rep from about 5 or 8 years ago. That "Monarch Polfy" from Galena Shitinerand is quite famous in the rep watch circles. And the movement is a cheap Asian 21j movement based on the Japanese Miyota. The Submariners of the time with the same case back were also considered as some of the better early reps. These were assembled from what is now known as the Noob Factory. Good deal for $10.

    • @aaronramnarain8142
      @aaronramnarain8142 Před 8 lety

      I second that. I was checking fake Tissots a few weeks back; they usually cost between $200-500 and that's very expensive for fake, a high-copy or whatever shit you want to call it. Tissot usually, from my standpoint uses generic versions of ETA movement, and are not not really accurate when it comes to time-keeping, I guess some people who really know about watches would agree with me. Personally, I don't like Rolex, I'd rather get a Patek, Breitling, Hamilton, Blancpain, Tag Heuer, and finally kind of ironical, Tissot because I like the design and finish. Moreover, buying a watch at $2000+ is very expensive, and some people will say that it's futile or waste of money, but if you want something which will survive the test of time and something which can stand as a real heirloom piece, then here you go. But then, if you want something light and casual, which connects more to modernity, then you can have relatively cheap watches such as TheFifth, MVMT, Tayroc and things like that.

The watch has worked pretty well, it was the high end of fakes with ceramic bezel and sapphire glass. It's automatic and I wore it most days for the first couple of years or so but it started to gain time last year. It actually feels a really nice watch, I have a Tag Aquaracer which now despite been genuine feels small in comparison to the GMT (38mm v 40mm case). I only bought the GMT as I really like it as a watch and wanted to see how it felt. Last year I purchased the real thing, with the blue and black bezel and absolutely love it. Yes, it's a fake Rolex alright, but it's not necessarily a bad watch, as long as you are satisfied with a workman's watch. Many of these got the old universal Chinese movement, which was designed 35-40 years ago, and made originally for the Chinese Army exclusively, but later made available to the civilian market. The Chinese industry made countless millions of these movements, because they're sturdy, reliable, if not exactly the most precise instruments by today's standard. Still it's a good workman's watch, as long as you are not bothered by its 1 to 2 minutes daily fluctuation.

      Excuse me, but that is a misleading statement! Rolex used in-house movements in ALL models except the Rolex Cosmograph (Daytona). From the mid 1970s until 1999, the Cosmograph was powered by the Zenith El Primero movement. Then in 2000, Rolex was able to finally produce an in-house chronograph movement, and the purchasing of El Primero movements was discontinued.

      +Andre Black Baby Jesus That is bs any cheapo quartz watch can keep time much more accurately than any mechanical watch. Furthermore, buying a Rolex and selling it after years will still set you back more than $10 which is what this watch costs.
      Rolexes that have increased their value are only those of 30+ years ago, whose prices went bananas when Rolex decided to increase prices on new ones by a lot. If you buy a NEW Rolex today and pay the retail price, you can be certain that you will lose a lot of money when you sell it. Rolexes retain value with the possibility of making an extra buck by trading them again, only when you buy specific USED Rolexes at good prices. Only then it is a good investment.
      Buy it if you like and if you have the money, I agree they are beautiful watches. However, you pay for materials (gold, platinum), craftsmanship, in-home movement, design, finishing quality and brand name. Certainly not for accuracy; even a properly adjusted Seiko 51 will give you pretty accurate time and you will still need to adjust your mechanical watch every now and then either it costs $50 or a million. Even the cheapest Orient mechanical can perform as well as a very expensive one. As long as you maintain and service your watch regularly, even a chinese fake can last pretty long as long as it is clean, oiled and greased.

    The auto wind is a bumper type. The very first auto wind watches that came out used a bumper type winding using single ratcheting gears. A few years later they came up with the double ratcheting gears winder where the weight can move in either direction to wind the watch.
    From what I have seen in original watches the inner construction or frame is in brass color metal, and not in white metal as shown in this video. I have not looked the inside of many Rolex watches, therefore I cannot comment on what the color of the metal construction or frame and wheels should be.
