I would legit watch a full-blown movie in this style of animation. literally HOW is this humanly possible??? Bravo to all the smart and technologically gifted people who know how to make this kind of content! It's absolutely incredible to watch, and even the amount of story they were able to produce within 6 minutes is so impressive. Plus MALGUS is just everything oh my god, I think he's perfect 😭

The way Malgus says, "All your life you've been in a cage, Padawan. When you're ready... Break free!" just rings of the Sith code, "With vitory, my chains are broken! The Force shall set me free!"
Will her drive to find her brother lead to her falling to the dark side, or will she be able to resist the dark side and still find her brother? Or will she still lose her brother despite everything she does and pushes herself through to find him? So many potential paths and outcomes to wonder about!

"But it's not too late. Give me the plans. We can still find your brother"
Look at Malgus's eyes at about 6:03. Pause if you have to. Those are not the eyes of a man with evil intent. While yes Malgus still relies almost exclusively on the darkside for his power, his eyes here, and the fact he's telling the unadulterated truth about both the Jedi and the Sith tell me his intentions are extremely noble.
The imagery of him holding the green and red lightsaber is part of the "show don't tell" aspect of this trailer also. It signifies his connection with the force is still dark, but his drive, and his mission is good. Kind of a chaotic neutral character arc he might be on.
He also could have killed Sa'har at any time he wanted to but managed restraint. If this man were purely following the dogmatic ways of the Sith she would have been killed before he left.
The story that is to unfold will be an amazing one.

Malgus is my favorite sith of all time. By a wide margin. Everything about his back story to his actions from the way he ran through the entire jedi temple like a smooth knife through butter to the way he actually cares about the people of hte Empire like no other sith does. His willingness to go fully against the teachings of the Sith every time if its a detriment to his goals and still being able to single handidly run a train on any jedi or sith makes him a badass on a galactic scale, He's a huge fan of self-determination for all which makes him very compelling. He's not trying to convert her to the dark side at all. He just wants her to break free of dogmatic teachings for her own well being. Hes just hoping she will side with him once she does.

I feel this turned into a recruitment test from Malgus's perspective. Sahar (if that's how you spell her name?) is emotionally vulnerable because of the attachment she still has for her brother and seeing her master slain in front of her, while also demonstrating that she is very skilled and has a powerful connection to the force for a padawan. Malgus could have very easily have killed her if he actually wanted to or just for the hell of it, but left her alive with a burning and kinda twisted hope that if she breaks free from her "cage" and pursues him for the holocron, that Sahar can find and rescue her brother from his fate. It feels like Malgus was testing and tempting her to become his new apprentice/asset to his personal cause.

Doing the right thing is hard, not because it's easy to do unintentional harm, although that can be true. It's hard because unlike in games there isn't any red or blue outlined options to choose from that show you the kinds of choices you're making. I think the Jedi forget this a little too often to truly call themselves good. They try. They forget the little kindnesses that add up to being good. He could have taken both children. The brother clearly has some connection to the force. Does it matter that he probably wouldn't become a full Jedi? The younglings who don't get chosen as padawans become farmers using their connection to the force to help grow crops. The chain around his neck suggests he was made into a slave after his sister was taken. I'd say that farming is a better fate than slavery. Then we look to what might have happened in the trailer if the padawan's brother was safe on an agriculture world. They might have managed to keep the holocron away from Malgus.

    • @MsKeylas
      @MsKeylas Před rokem

EXACTLY. Or could have easily taken them both and if brother failed Jedi Knight trials he could have become librarian/quartermaster/custodian/loremaster/ any other position which doesn't require as powerfull force connection as knights. In that way he both wouldn't become a slave and wouldn't be abandoned. So Malgus was absolutely right. he just told the truth to Sahara.

Whats interesting about this is that when Malgus is talking to padawan his eyes are normal, not your typical Sith yellow, those are not the eye's of someone with evil intent he's actually being probably telling the truth about the Jedi, esp with the way her master reacts. Also what i love about Malgus is that while he is bad, he still has some for of sense of honor. He has been known to spare Jedi or opponents who prove worthy or give him a good fight. He also let the Jedi who kidnapped his wife live, as she did not kill or hurt his wife. Though he did go on to kill his own wife. But like Revan, Malgus is such a 3D and fleshed out character, unlike the new films and TV series where they are mainly all 2D characters. I've always said BIOWARE should do a Old Republic animated film.

Between leaving people behind because they were deemed weak, a group of Jedi who murdered their own Padawans out of fear that the Sith would return from within their ranks, how many Jedi treated clones as lesser beings during the Clone Wars and how the Jedi imprisoned anyone capable of killing Jedi (bounty hunters, cyborgs, Force sensitive beings) in a secret prison without trial shows that, in a way, Order 66 was necessary in order to rebuild an order that embraced a larger view of the Force.

Malgus is a great character. He's a reformist among Sith, even led a coup to see his ideas implemented. He wanted the Sith Empire to be equal opportunity for all, not just the races Imperial leadership deemed superior as in his eyes, not only was this impractical but also against the Sith Code. Power should be for the taking for all who seek it and all that jazz.
Ironically, though his coup failed and he was branded a traitor the power vacuum he left behind on the Dark Council was filled by Darth Marr, who happened to share those views and so those very reforms he wanted for the Sith Empire came to pass under Darth Marr's leadership, who tried hard to steer the Empire in a new direction to prevent it from losing the war. He campaigned for equal treatment of all races, discouraged backstabbing between Imperial officers and Sith looking for a promotion and spearheaded research initiatives to widen the technological gap between Empire and Republic even further.
After all, the reason the Empire was losing in the first place wasn't the might of Republic forces, it was the Sith's constant infighting and waste of entire fleets and thousands of troops on petty ambitions.
Interesting to note is that the Empire had brought the Republic to its knees very quickly in their initial invasion, leading the Republic to sign an armistice that put a stop to the war for a time. Had the Empire continued its invasion, it would have annihilated the Republic. But that didn't jive with the Emperor's plans, who needed the war to drag on for as long as possible and create millions upon millions of casualties for him to feed on, so he forbade further conflict with the Republic and left the Sith no other enemies to fight other than themselves thus weakening the Empire significantly for the time when war would erupt again.

This is what essentially happens in one part of the Sith Warrior campaign. I won't say too much just in case (spoilers) but yeah, in my opinion, the Emperor's Wrath (Sith Warrior) campaign in TOR is one of the best stories ever told in Star Wars from the point of view of the Sith side. It could easily be a movie on its own.

I resonate with Malgus and Zahar "This is how the jedi and sith remain control reviling the way of the force to some and keeping it from others" last spring I signed up for guitar lessons got ghosted by the place I was going to get lessons so I learned it my self after walking away for 8 months from martial arts , then during last summer I had feelings for a amazing woman she end up having a boyfriend but instead of others helping me they turned there back on me and she end up being a sweet heart in which like Malgus walking away I walked away from martial arts

Magus has definitely reached Revan-like enlightenment regarding the force in balance, and it's even more impressive for him, having been taught only the dark side of the force. Unlike the high and mighty of both orders, he is unafraid to think for himself. He's the antihero the Star Wars universe needs.

Same but just for technical reasons. ILM is an amazing studio when it comes to effects but the animations here are sometimes really janky. For exemple the movements when Sa'har is happy when she was a kid or when her master talks (especially when he is upside down). They are also cheaper to hire than Blur (the ones who did the first five trailers) so that's maybe why ILM were the ones to make this one.
