You see these two boys grow from being curiously innocent, and fiercely loyal to each other, to being badass brothers crusading on their evil fathers behalf, and seeing them both (one more so than the other) growing resentful against their father barely acknowledging anything that they do until one finally snaps and ends up killing his brother out of blind rage. Now you know why "Legends" fans are so upset. We lost some absolutely amazing characters and stories to get Rey in a copy/paste of the Original trilogy but where she's near perfect and has minimal attachments to the rest of the cast.
Just wait until you read the Legends books. Start with Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command. It's set almost exactly when The Mandalorian show is and was the unofficial Sequel trilogy for 25 years. Leia gets a lightsaber in it btw and it's where Mara Jade gets introduced, who was the Ahsoka of her day. A fan is currently turning it chapter by chapter into CZcams videos, he's up to chapter 10 atm. So you can watch the first few chapters currently.

    "He's terrifying"
You have no idea. These cinematics really do a good job of selling what tank of a man Malgus is, but at the same time they only scratch the surface. Darth Malgus is one of the most terrifyingly devoted sith that Star Wars has ever produced. The dude murdered his own wife, the only person in the universe he genuinely cared about, purely because his love for her held him back from fully embracing the dark side. He is the only sith I know of that has achieved 'oneness' (or perfect unity) with the dark side. To top it off, the bastard just won't quit. I call him a tank, but honestly I think you'd have more luck destroying an actual tank by punching it than you would killing this guy armed to the teeth.

In battle, he's probably the very last person I'd ever want as my enemy. Vitiate may have near God-like power, but his overconfidence works against him more often than not. not the biggest fan of the MMO art style lacks that retro look and goes for more modern sci fi elements some armours almost have that Destiny look (Eternal Empire) come off as more advanced in tech yet ancient in design even through its set 4000 years in the past. Love the Kotor art style that kept built off the retro look of Star Wars but give it a new look for the factions and people we all know and love like the Mandalorian the one in the trailers armour design is very modern in its design language compared to that of the Neo crusaders from Kotor or The Modern Mandalorian. Maybe its explained by a dark age of tech but I always found the MMO to feel out of place between Kotor and the Prequals like how Halo went from Halo 3 to Halo 4 compete art design change.

In the second cinematic the Jedi woman, Satele Shan the now Jedi Grandmaster in the game, catches Darth Malgus's lightsaber. The specific Force technique is known by the name of Tutaminis. You might know it as the ability Darth Vader used to catch blaster bolts with his bare hands. It's a fairly high-level technique used primarily by masters. It functions by taking the energy affecting the Jedi and displacing it into their body. The entire time Satele Shan was holding Malgus's saber by the blade the heat of the blade was being displaced across her entire body. One of the dangers of Tutaminis is that the energy absorbed can overwhelm the user. That should tell you how powerful Darth Sidious was that he could output enough lightning to overpower Yoda's Tutaminis and throw him.
This also explains what allowed Satele Shan to throw Malgus through a mountain. She was releasing the energy she had collected from holding Malgus's lightsaber by the blade.

    Breakdown:
1st - Return: After almost being genocided by the Republic and barely escaping into the darkest corner of the galaxy the Sith Empire returns with a vengeance.
2nd - Hope: Empire attacks Alderaan and eventually loses it or fights to a standstill (can't remember. ingame there is a "cease fire" that both sides follow only loosely and both are on Alderaan)
3rd - Deceived: Both the Empire and Republic are hurting after years of war and come together on Alderaan for peace talks. The Empire sacks Coruscant during the negotiations, destroys the Jedi Temple and basically holds the entire capital hostage. With leverage like this the "cease fire" that they agree on is naturally way more in the Empire's favor than it was before, thus letting the Empire come out on top when negotiating for territory, etc. The Empire was not in a good place when the peace talks started and arguably needed the cease fire more desperately than the Republic, a fact only learned later by most.
AFTER ALL THIS, the story starts. The galaxy is TECHNICALLY not at war but it is really more of a cold war between Empire and Republic, with both sides bending the cease fire treaty, the Treaty of Coruscant, to the breaking point at multiple times. Oh yeah and the Emperor is abnormally silent, leaving most of the rule in the hands of the Sith Council.

The following is getting into SPOILER territory so if you don't want to spoil yourself the story of a few of the biggest plot points of the base game better not read on...
      .
      .
      .
      .
      .
4th - Sacrifice: The one that kicks of Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion. After learning that the Emperor (who gets "killed" by the player Jedi Knight in the JK class storyline) is not only still alive but also happily draining an entire planet of it's life-force the Empire and the Republic both try to find him. Turns out Darth Vitiate, our glorious Emperor, got bored/disappointed by his current Empire and left his pet-project to die after literally hundreds of years of shaping it from the shadows to take over another empire, again from the shadows. But this time a little bit more openly. The old man in the cinematic is Vitiate, in the guide of Emperor Valkorion, the twins are his sons who he had with the woman of the following trailer. Long story short, he basically elevated a small, unknown empire into a powerhouse thanks to his powers, experience and a conviniently obtained, automated, super-fleet. His sons try, in vain, to gain his respect or rather his attention, as he shuns them both from the start. Basically he has a force thing experiment going and he wants only one son alive to eventually possess his body... iirc. Anyway, that is why he only ever acknowledges Arcann after he killed his own brother Thexan in his dark-side rage.
5th - Betrayal: Senya, Emperor Valkorion's wife, tries desperately not to loose her daughter Vaylin to her estranged hubby's machinations. That Vaylin is a prodigy with the force of course didn't help since our boi Vitiate wants to diddle with her force powers too.
Both the 4th and 5th cutscene play basically BEFORE the expansion start chronologically.
If you have not tried SWTOR yet and you like RPGs I HIGHLY reccommend it if only for playing the class stories, which are all varying levels of excellent. Fully voiced, RPG that happens to have multiplayer if you choose. But SWTOR can be played alone pretty much for just the story. Of course this MMO has way more than just that to offer but I would suggest to check out Swotorista's SWTOR The Academy videos about more details about the game itself since she does an excellent job of covering the game for years now. Basically if you have a question about the game, she likely has already made 1-4 videos about it.

Little noticed detail: in the throne room fight, Arcann (the twin in white) has his eye color change to Dark Side yellow, but when he kills his brother, Thexan, you can see his eye color change back to blue. He gave in to the Dark Side for the briefest moment and it cost him *everything.*
Edit: Also, there are three Old Republic games.
1: Knights of the Old Republic
2: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords
3: Star Wars: The Old Republic
The first two are REEEEEEALLY old and definitely feel it. The iPad versions are probably some of the most stable versions of the games, unless you mod them on PC. They also cost like, 10 bucks each or something, so it’s not expensive. Very worth it for the story and world building. And the card game. And swoop racing. And our loves, T3-M4 and HK-47: R2’s great grandpappy and C-3PO’s murderous, psychotic cousin, respectively. The player character is a silent protagonist, in early RPG fashion.
The Old Republic game is a free-to-play game, technically, but subscribing is definitely worth it for the benefits. It’s $15/month for a subscription. It came out in 2011 so it’s not super graphics intensive either. You can play as 4 classes for either faction, Republic or Sith Empire. These classes are, respectively, the Jedi Knight, Jedi Consular, (think Obi-Wan “The Negotiator”) Trooper, and Smuggler for the Republic, and Sith Warrior, (the pale Sith in the first 3 trailers) Sith Inquisitor, (Sith politics heavy) Bounty Hunter, (you become a Mandalorian, what more motivation do you need?) and Imperial Agent. (Definitely the best story-wise- you can apparently have up to like 7 or 8 different endings for this class, which is INSANE.) Each class has a unique story, with a fully voiced protagonist, (Jennifer Hale voices the female Trooper- *YOU CAN PLAY AS FEMSHEP IN STAR WARS*) which, personal opinion, the women all voice better than their male counterparts- I’ve done all of them on both sexes.
If you wanna know more about SWTOR, search @Swtorista here on CZcams. She has a TON of videos for curious people looking to play, beginners guides, etc. I recommend playing this AFTER both KOTORs since it does take the place of KOTOR 3, and takes place 300 years after the events of KOTOR 1 and 2. There are storylines that will continue from KOTOR into SWTOR, too, so there’s that.

It's called "The Old Republic: Deceived" and I can recommend it as well as "The Old Republic: Revan" which is about another great character from this era, Revan. And if you get the opportunity you should play the games from this time peroid. There are three I think: "Knights of Old Republic" (which is about Revan as well), "Knights of the Old Republic II" and "Star Wars: The Old Republic" (a MMORPG about the characters in the trailers). You shouldn't expect the same graphics as in the trailers but the story is great.

almost correct! The twins didn't even know about light and dark, they drew their strength from another place in the Force, sort of in the middle. They believe in a higher purpose, which is to serve Zakuul and its Eternal Emperor (whose true identity the twins don't even know) and that's where their strength comes from (same applies for the Knights of Zakuul). When Arcann goes mad (the white one) it's not because he was consumed by darkness, but by *ambition* (listen carefully to the voice-over...), and that's exactly what the Emperor wanted: that one of the two brothers eventually would kill the other in his pursuit of greatness.

Now for context of the 5 video...It happens about 1000 years before the Battle of Yavin, in a Republic who as rebuild post civil war created by Darth Revan and the triumvirate of the Dark side.
The first video is the Sith Empire returning to Korriban, in full force after consolidating his power in the Outer Rim, away from the view of the Republic. Darth Malgus takes control of the sith military, and Satele Shan will bring up to speed the Republic for the coming war.
The second : The Sith invade Alderaan, symbol of the Republic. The Republic answers back with a counter attack to show their support and resolve.
The third: But it was a trap, the army of the Republc focused on other core world like Alderaan are not focused on Coruscant, which Malgus attack with precision and kills the Grand Master of the Jedi Order, starting the Sacking of Coruscant...That attack will bring the war to an end and a peace treaty will be made between the loosing Republic and the (in reality weaken) Sith Empire. The Galaxy is in a state of cold war were you start the game, both side testing the other on side offensive.
The fourth: Meanwhile, the real threat to the galaxy is on the unknown regions. The immortal emperor Valkorion build in secret the Eternal fleet and let his fake Sith Empire weaken the Republic. Now his twins starts the war against both factions, who has restart the war in the second act of the game. One survive. The Republic and Sith form an uneasy alliance to stop this threat !
The fifth: Valkorion also have a daughter, strong with the force, but her mother does not want her to let her go to the dark side. She becomes unstable...Valkorion wants to control all...The mother helps the hero of the game to save her child...

There was no such thing as canon vs non-canon before the Disney era.
There was general "canonness", some things being "more definitively canon" than others. A commonly accepted model was from the Holocron Continuity Database. "The Holocron's database included a field for a single letter (G, T, C, S, N or D) representing the level of canonicity of that element; these letters were since informally applied to the levels of canon themselves: G-canon, T-canon, C-canon, S-canon, N-canon and D-canon."

Awesome reaction! I'll do a bit of explaining.
Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR 1) was a 2003 video game which is the one you can get for your iPad. It's the one that introduces you to the world and gives us memorable characters like Darth Malak, Darth Revan, Bastila Shan, and many more. It is set 3,956 years before A New Hope in the Legends timeline. Definitely recommend playing this one first.
After is Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords (KOTOR 2) was released in 2004. It takes place 5 years after KOTOR 1 and follows a new protagonist. I highly recommend playing this one on Steam with the Sith Lords Restored Content Mod. Basically, this game was rushed when it first came out, but modders fixed a lot and added a ton of cut content. It is the best way to play.
Finally is Star Wars the Old Republic (SWTOR) which is an MMO (Massively multiplayer online game kinda like World of Warcraft) that was released in 2011 and has been updated throughout the years. These cinematics were promotions for the game and take place before the events of the game. The game takes place around 300 years after the events of KOTOR 1 and 2. Many characters from the cinematics like Satele Shan and Darth Malgus appear in-game, though you do not directly play them. You basically can create your own character to be on the Republic or Empire and there are different classes like Jedi, Sith, Bounty Hunter, Smuggler, Trooper, and more. Unfortunately, the game does play like the trailers do but it is still fun especially with friends. SWTOR can be played on a PC tho it is a fairly large game and needs decent specs to run well.
This is a lot of info but hopes this helps clarify a bit more. I'd explain more of the characters but this comment is already long enough haha. Lmk if you have any further questions!

"unfortunately, the game does play like the trailers" - what does that even mean? Are you referring to all the cutscenes where your toon actually speaks and you're immersed in the story? How is that a bad thing? Being so involved in the story is an awesome thing, which makes me love swtor. I play wow but I cannot say I love it, due to its disconnect from its own story within the game itself. Too much of it is 'off screen', which is why swtor is the superior game. It should never be like wow, with hardly any cutscenes, where, if you're 'lucky', your toon sits still like a doll, not adding anything to the story whatsoever, effectively being decoration.

I think that the Old Republic era of Jedi used a larger variety of Sabers such as the double-bladed lightsaber because in that era, the Jedi were way more combat oriented and Knight-like so you had a lot more Jedi who were far more comfortable and acclimated to wielding a double-blade. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that the Jedi were constantly at war whether it be fighting Mandalorians or the Sith. It shows how much they changed during peace time because they could actually afford to be picky about what’s acceptable and what’s not. lol
