I love how the older seasons were very good. Meg wasn't abused, Peter was more funny and a good father, Stewie was actually VERY evil, Brian wasn't a simp, Lois was a good mother, and Chris wasn't...uh weird.
Ye the newer seasons definitely look more clean and consistent but tbh it has this weird pitcure perfect automated robotic lifelessness to it now tho Like we always hear the jokes but it genuinely does wreak of something made in go animate While old family guy is like old simpsons where its sloppy and less refined but those imperfections help inadvertently give it a more lively feeling and it just has way more charm tbh

Watching this scene makes me really miss the Family Guy of the 2000s... It was so much funnier and unique - Stewie was more evil, Brian wasn't as boring, Meg wasn't always told to shut up but was still hated to some degree (just not overdone like it is today), and the jokes and skits in general were just a lot more funny. Now it just seems to have gone more repetitive with things, as if the creators have ran out of ideas. Not to mention this style of animation they used then that gave it that wacky classic edge.

Family Guy in it's prime. The jokes are spot on, the animation, while simplistic today, has a lot more character and life than most modern episodes, and the cutaways didn't make me wanna roll my eyes. Shame we won't have another like it
Back when Family Guy had morals to their stories... idk if the new ones do still but it seems to me they're much more just for the laughs than telling a story. Meanwhile old Family Guy does both.
Dang first time seeing classic Family Guy and I've to say it's humor, characteristics, and dynamic is way different. Peter is actually a decent guy (his even less dumb) and no one treats Mag terribly as a joke.
It's only natural that once they find the audience's preferred dynamic writers try to stick to it as much as possible to appease fans, which results in characters becoming more and more exaggerated and plots being more and more predictable as the years go by. And then, eventually, the characters are completely different and you have a completely different different show. The idea of your favorite show airing forever is great, but the reality is that some things need to be retired with dignity, or be put on a long hiatus until it's ready to come back. It's been like 20 years since I first saw this episode, I think. It's still probably one of the best episodes in the series.
