    • @supertrexandroidx
      @supertrexandroidx Před 2 lety +1

      Originally, it probably had nothing to do with anything sinister - or stalking. If anyone really cares, they can go back and look at past interviews with Sting, and they'll see that he spun the stalker angle only in later years, probably only after he heard other people interpret it that way and he decided it was a cooler, "edgier" take on it, but he's been inconsistent on it even after that. Sting wrote the song in 30 minutes, sitting at his piano in the middle of the night, without much thinking about it, so any possible sinister motive would have to be attributed to his subconscious. So people should probably just interpret it as they want. Myself, I've always interpreted in the spirit Sting originally said it was written in, as a simple love song.
      Fun fact: Led Zeppelin's song, 'D'Yer Mak'er', also contains the words 'every breath I take, every move I make'

    This is considered soft rock blues. Sting is on vocals and standup bass. Cello is similar, smaller with more range than the bass and is played with a violin type bow. The music is more symphonic with the strings plus that dynamic drum beat. Was actually written on a Hammond organ. The meaning of the song, as the public listened was interpreted of a love song full of devotion. That is why it stayed at number one for so long. In reality, Sting wrote the song about the disintegration of his first marriage and his struggle with a mental break. This quote …. “Sting felt that the mix of light and darkness was “all about my life”. It derived from the mood swings he experienced amid professional success and marital failure. But the “really rather evil” song about “jealousy and surveillance and ownership” had an extra significance. It summed up The Police’s troubled internal dynamics.” Stings issues took a hard toll on the band itself. We didn’t know the term bipolar in 1983. We called it stalking. The entire Synchronicity album is a masterpiece. Pick any song. They are all works of art.

    Reread the lyrics. This song is about a stalker, not someone who loves anyone.

    God I can't wait till the day you listen to Eagles "Hotel California" greatest American rock song ever off of the #1 selling album I'm American music history. It topped Michael Jackson's Thriller to take #1. If you ever react to it do the live version from Capital Center 1977 version because it's the best performance ever. Pure fire & the guitars are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

    The Police for a time were the biggest band in the world. Catalogue of classics... you must try the single Roxanne next some time as another huge hit. Sting is a multi-talented musician who went solo after the police with major success such as Fields of Gold and an Englishman in New York dto name but two. Thanks for your review

    The instrument Sting is playing is an Upright Bass, also referred as an acoustic bass.
    Great reaction, you both got the message of the sing very quickly; I call it, "The Stalker National Anthem". 😂🤣😂
    Please check out my favorite Police song/video, "Wrapped Around Your Finger".
    Thanks for this great reaction video.
    Much Love And Respect. Take Care. ✌

    It is about a stalker but many people had this as their wedding song not realizing the meaning. Sting said in an interview he woke up from a dream and wrote it down immediatlely.

    This can definitely be interpreted as a stalker song. However, it makes more sense as an ultra possessive, jealous and controlling person IN a relationship. Especially with lyrics like, 'every vow you break', 'every bond you break', 'every word you say' and 'every game you play'. Whichever way you interpret it, it's undoubtedly dark. Amazingly, many people missed the meaning entirely and instead saw it as a beautiful love song! For a fair few years, this was the most popular song at weddings! :)

    The Police were among the rare 3 piece bands that made it HUGE. ELP (Emerson, Lake and Palmer) , Rush, and ZZ-Top are some of the 3-somes that made double platinum sales. Sting has a unique sounding voice and is a pretty good actor. He was the villain in the 1984 version of the SciFi epic DUNE.
    Their drummer, Stuart Copeland is a prolific composer who wrote and played a lot of 80's/90's tv themes, music videos, video games, etc.
    For a more rock song from them, check out 'Synchronicity 2' official video. It's one of my favorites because it features The Loch Ness Monster.
