As an outsider, I think, maybe citizens are now wondering, which colleague is going to shoot me? Would I dare to enter another bank, a church, etc.? If I lived in the US I would definitely do this.

A well regulated militia..even the national guard doesn’t keep their autos at home…if citizens demand ownership of such weapons..they should be kept in an armory….that’s what the law actually says..
I listened to an interview with a Navy seal, who discussed how much they regulate their use and training with AR’s. And he said that he feels the most free when he is able to lock up that weapon and walk away from it. That when he is in charge of his weapon, he can’t leave it, go into a store with it, Walk away from it because he is responsible for what happens with that gun at all times. He says he’s free when he can turn it back in.

When I was growing up, it was commonly understood that citizens were allowed conventional guns, but not machine guns, which were military. What happened to that distinction?

Social and economic equality would go a long way to fix a lot of problems just saying
A couple of comments:
- What is the rationale behind allowing private citizens to legally acquire military-grade assault weapons that serve but one purpose: to permanently put down as many as possible in the shortest amount of time and with the largest amount of destruction?
- Why are many against renewable and revocable gun permits issued after background checks and responsible training?
- Why are many refusing to adopt and implement "red flag" regulations?
Personally, I can not see any reason for anyone outside of military/law enforcement to possess automatic assault weapons. That the manufacturer wants to earn a buck on selling them is no excuse. Neither is the fact that by doing so, the unit cost goes down, which is a benefit to governmental procurement.
Wanting to acquire a couple of hunting rifles/shotguns, I can understand and appreciate.
Wanting to have a handgun for home protection, I can understand, but it shouldn't be necessary.
One thing is certain: Legislation has to be adopted and implemented pronto at both state and national levels.

Mental health counsellors for the brainwashed lawmakers who refuse to protect their most vulnerable constituents should be a priority.
Mental health counselors sounds good but probably won't stop the shootings unfortunately. People always say more mental health care is the answer to everything but it won't help everyone. It's simply not the panacea they pretend it is.

We can revisit mental health as much as we want to, but let's acknowledge that the states with the poorest mental health outcomes also have the most lax gun laws (Kentucky #27 and Tennessee #41 for example).

It's also incumbent to make this discussion transparent: the Minneapolis City Council was putting forth a bill, in the wake of the George Floyd murder, to redirect funds into hiring mental health professions to work with the police and respond to appropriate calls, and that bill was branded as "Defund the Police" and it was voted down.

My opinion is that these shooters are only declared mentally ill after they have killed. The man worked in a bank. The bank didn't think he was mentally ill. He was considered a law abiding citizen and purchased a gun.

It is certainly NOT what the founders intended. In fact, for most of our history, the purpose of Amendment II was understood to be preventing the federal government from disarming state militias (which are practically non-existent in the 21st century).
It wasn't until the US Supreme Court first interpreted the second amendment to be an _individual_ right in the 2008 case _District of Columbia v. Heller_ that the downhill snowball REALLY started gathering speed.

It is to the point that the probability of being where a mass shooting occurs is way up for anyone!! When I go places I make sure I know how to get out of a building, store, church, etc., I don’t sit with my back where I can’t see what’s happening. These politicians will only send thoughts and prayers and they haven’t sent many of those lately.
Always remember - The bad guys at the top want to disarm the public. They are the real enemies of the people. An armed populace is antithetical to the authoritarian rule they want to impose. These folks are so obsessed, they will actually stage fake shooting events to promote gun control. The Sandy Hook school shooting was a prime example. The recent Tennessee shooting incident was another. Shooting incidents that are not staged are still used to push the agenda.

Why can't the law require a passive RFID tag built into each and every gun? Make it a crime to remove it. Walk past a sensor and set off a silent alarm.
The first and easiest to apply change would be a ban on assault weapons. Period. All this BS about mental health as a reason. You can be as mentally ill all you want, if the laws are tight enough you won't be able to get a weapon. Period. Mental health measurements can only be an additional measurement. I don't know why this should be hard at all.
