The owners told you Zelda wouldn't bite, but nobody told Zelda that!! As always, impressed by how you can read an animal and adjust your approach.
That’s famous last words😀
@@Axelfl6161Yep! Last spring I was on a public beach, and someone's off-leash German shepherd started showing signs of aggression towards me. I couldn't leave as it was blocking the exit. "Don't worry, he's a big baby, he doesn't bite or attack", the owner said cheerfully and didn't even come to get his dog. A few seconds later the dog was on me, trying to bite through my scarf and thick jacket. The owner didn't even come get the dog then, he was just going "omg what's wrong with you" at his dog while it's attacking me. Took him way longer than it should to come pull his dog off me. Thankfully I was physically okay, my clothes were too thick for the dog's teeth to get through.
They never bite... until they do. Then it's too late.
People with dogs have to understand that their temperament can change easily without warning. So even though owners may say "my dog won't bite", they should take into consideration that they could very well go into attack mode with a different person or people. I am a dog sitter and work at an animal shelter, and I have been with dogs that are fine with me and their owners however, they may not trust others and snap. Always be careful when approaching dogs or even cats.
@@aesaphyr That owner sounded to me like the type of guy doesn't know how to actually train and look after a dog, but merely getting the GSD for TikTok clout or something. And it's the type that are most likely gonna give up their dogs to the shelter.
@@wendymarie7151 I have a rescue dog that was mistreated by his previous owners. I never take a chance with him and strangers. I muzzle him when out of the home and always keep him on the leash. He may be an old man of 16 who has mellowed out, but I'm not risking it.
Zelda is an Alaskan Malcontent. And I was very worried about that rip in the side of the muzzle.
I was worried about that, too.
Yeah same
I think it's for easier breathing.
We've got those muzzles at my work, the green part that's ripped is super thin and basically cosmetic. I'm pretty sure it's to distinguish the different sizes at a glance. The black inner lining is what really matters
Well put!
She's the most reactive Alaskan Malamute I've ever seen. I hope the owner sees the entire groom. Most Malamute/Husky owner's think some of these behavior's are cute and encourage it rather than correcting.
and when they do bite, it tends to be really serious. Mals at least.
indeed and you would know what type of situations are going to stress your dog out in advance and these mouthy dogs like huskys and malamutes its important to know whats sass and what is a warning.
They're awful dogs as pets, they're working snow dogs and should be kept that way.
@@purpledragonfly4not true. Like every other dog it will always depend on the owners if the dog is good or not.
@@purpledragonfly4 Not true at all! My best friend growing up had a malamute and she was the most lovable and dopey thing ever! She loved the cats, all dogs, all humans (even the little annoying ones) she was basically a really loud cat 😂but my best friend and her mum had always had dogs so knew exactly how to train her! Working dogs especially need someone who knows their shit
That was pretty irresponsible of the owners to say she won't bite. Any dog has the potential to bite, especially in a stressful environment like this. Not that you are heavy handed, but it's an unfamiliar situation for them! So glad you muzzled her and thank you so much for posting the "bad" ones too!! She was surprisingly good for the nails
yes exactly! my kitty has never bitten anyone but i would never tell anyone she would never bite, simply that she hasn't. no matter well you think you know an animal you can never truly know
My dog doesn’t bite unless provoked. If you’re mean to her she will. She’s never bitten anyone though and she’s the sweetest. I stayed with our groomer to keep her comforted and make sure she’s safe. With me there she learned to trust her groomer and she loves people anyways. She gets monthly grooms and she’s a German Shepard/ husky which means she’s got to go through more than a normal groom. She’s fluffy and her coat needs tons of attention. The only thing they have to worry about is her licking them to death😂😂
Bad owners and training. I've owned Malamutes for 47 years never seen aggression. Vocal yes but gentle arctic giants that adore children.
It didn't bite
@@malamuteaerospace6333 I wouldn't assume bad owners - it seems like Zelda was just sassy about the whole grooming experience and didn't want it done. Even within breeds, dogs have a variety of personalities. She didn't seem like an unhappy or insanely aggressive dog.
Zelda truly is a drama queen. All I can think of when she growls and reacts, my thoughts are "Well, excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me, princess!"
MoonSpirit, I could hear Steve Martin saying "Excuuuuuuse me!" as I read your comment.
This comment deserves a medal
Okay, I like this better than my own comment about humming the Zelda/Hyrule theme song 😂. Much more fitting!
Wow that takes me back
Someone gave her the wrong Triforce, no Wisdom there.
I feel bad for everyone who had their volume turned up high & was jumpscared by Zelda’s demonic scream at the start, because I was definitely one of those people 😭
I know right! I had to put my headphones on because hubby didn’t want to hear it. I told him it was only 2 minutes ow well it was worth it. 🙂
Yep! Me too. 😆
I saw “Malamute” in the title and, as a proud Malamute mom and foster mom, I was pretty sure what to expect 😂
Me too!!!😂😂
My earbuds were in and she still was loud enough that I had to turn the volume down. She sounded like the wolf she's decended from, alright!
1:10 it's heartwarming to see that you've expanded your clientele to include idling motorcycles
Apparently one can not trust owners any more than their dogs. That growl sounded pretty serious to me along with the body language. I’m glad you muzzled her. She looked beautiful when you were done. ❤
agreed. That was some intense growling from Zelda. She must've been off her meds that day or not had kibble or bones prior to that grooming visit. You'd expect maybe one or two gruffs but not anything lasting beyond a few minutes like was in this instance.
Malamutes are either like this, or they're the chillest dogs ever.
It's heads or tales.
Lucky for me, the one I had was super chill.
Tails 😂
*tails
Yep, no in-between! You get the wrath of the ancestors, or a head pillow.
I have a Malamute I can say this is accurate.
From the dog's perspective going to the groomers is like going to the dentist for humans.
No wonder why they get mouthy. 😆
True I do hate dentists.
That's actually accurate
No dentist ever touched my private parts.
@@thedjc100LOL
All that growling and barking for the bath and blowdry but none for the nail clipping and paw shave? Zelda is truly unique.
Owners: 'Oh, it's fine, they won't bite!'
Savvy Groomer: _You_ say that; your dog says otherwise!
You gotta love owners who say "don't worry, he/she won't bite". 😂
My response would be "Maybe she doesn't bite you because she knows your limits. Strangers are different." For example, my cat is a sweetie pie at home. But I have seen her growl and snap at a vet tech for giving her a rabies booster shot. I also clip her claws before her visits so she can't scratch anyone.
@@TuliTheUnruly Heck yes she'd growl at someone giving her a shot, I would too, lol.
Well, I kinda get it. it probably wasn't said like "oh it's fine she won't bite" ... it was probably something more like "She will growl and bark a whole lot, but she hasn't bit anyone so far" -- knowing how an animal typically vocalizes is fairly important. It's good to always assume that they'll be more dangerous than you expect, but, for example, knowing that Cookie is a drama queen who will scream the whole time gives you a suggestion of where 'normal' is. Knowing that Zelda will probably growl like a motorcycle the whole time, gives vanessa the baseline that there *will* be snarling, and to not be surprised when Zelda starts trying to voice act in a horror movie, whereas going in unprepared might lead to a hard stop to the grooming when it's not strictly needed.
(that said, I am also the one who hands my cat to the vet and says "She'll bite, so be careful")(They were careful, and from he told us, had a very polite conversation where he said "I"m just going to take some blood" and she said "Okay, I am going to hold your finger in my mouth." and he said "Okay you can keep your blood." and she permitted him to keep his finger.)
@@jenetikitty Yeah, I don't take my dog to the big pet stores for their grooming services for this kind of reason. She's as sweet of a shopper as you please, especially when they're giving her treats. She's quiet and more interested in sniffing everything than being rowdy. However, as a half shar pei and half husky mix, clipping her nails is a nightmare and she does get mouthy. I would rather groomers have protection in place than spare my feelings about putting a muzzle on my dog. She's never *bitten*, but gives warning nibbles and did put her whole mouth on my arm when I was trying to keep her still as the groomer at the vet tried clipping her nails after she slipped the muzzle. She is extremely wriggly which is not helped by the extra shar pei skin.
As a malamute owner, I am inclined to believe them. Mals will bitch and moan and be total drama queens, but actually following through on that is extremely rare, atleast against humans. Other small critters should be aware tho.
Haha, right as she entered the door you could tell what kinda groom this was gonna be.
She was telling you to fluff off right from the beginning.
I knew that you...were trouble when you walked iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin....🎶
We had a jack Russell who got his muzzle off & tried to bite. It’s still dangerous with a muzzle. 😮
The way she comes through the door 🤣🤣🤣 The sass, the drama, the fluff 🥰🤩🐺🐾❤💅
Oooooh Such a spicy girl! I’m glad you went ahead with the muzzle😂
Fortunately, the Girl With the Dogs survived Zelda. Somehow I do not think Zelda is “all talk.” ❤️
No, Zelda looks like the type that will back up her talking with some teeth actions!
You never know for sure but Zelda showed every sign of being willing to bite if she got the chance.
It may be that even her own people can't brush her but I think a big part of this was Zelda isn't properly socialized to strangers. She was showing anxiety even before the shower.
Zelda is a boss and she knows it. Testing her would be a very bad idea.
The way she spun around when the nozzle came near ...yeah. Easy call on this doggo.
@@KenS1267 sometimes even when properly socialized they can have anxiety. My guess is she isn't used to grooming or being apart from her owners. Both can raise anxiety and growly anxious behavior
Zelda sounded like a motorcycle during her appointment 😂 She sure had a lot to say about it. I bet she is saying, "This type of pampering is NOT up to my royal namesake's standards, lady."
and yet again link was too busy with sidequests to save her in time 😂😂
Peasant*
She expects the Hollywood treatment, that's for sure! At least she's honest on her feelings! 🤣
Grumpasaurus Rex! I'm relieved that you put a muzzle on her, I was actually afraid for you! Great work!
The muzzle was a good call! The owners are good people, no doubt, and they may even have been right about her not biting - but at the end of the day, I'm believing the dog, whether she's bluffing or not. Nice job, Vanessa, Zelda looks great!
My cats usually don't even look over when I play Girl With the Dogs videos, but they were extremely concerned about this one!
Mine too 🐈
My corgi was concerned!
Zelda was concerned
Can cats understand dog language?
childless behavior comment
Cameraman: Ooh, she loves that!
Vanessa: For now.
Zelda: Grrrr...
V: 😂
That part was hilarious when Zelda answered back and Vanessa had to laugh.
Malamutes are talkers lol
@@NoxBVansyn They can be quite chatty 🤣
Many years ago, my sister in CO adopted the world's biggest female Malamute--when I went to visit, we got along fine--she even slept next to my bed--when I awoke during the night, so did the Malamute, who was still sleepy and forgot we were friends--I looked up and this 120-lb. dog was leaning over my bed and making gurgling growls--I realized I would be toast before my sister got into my room--luckily, the dog remembered that we were buddies at the last minute
Vanessa, you have nerves of steel. I've had a pit bull growl like that at me and it started chewing at my a nkles and grabbed my arm. I was very blessed to get away with the help of someone. She was a beautiful girl, but my hat tips to you for having nerves of steel.
Vanessa:" You're ok Zelda."
Zelda: Don't tell me how i am Vanessa
0:00 not even one second in lmao and the Dog went full on Singing mode.
I love how she introduced herself as soon as she arrived!😂😂😂
I love how dogs will act super aggressive yet will be super friendly at the end of a groom
The worst of it is finally over, they're just ready to go home
I would never tell anyone my dog doesn't bite. One, they are dogs and there is always a first time. Two, I've found that when people think my dog might bite, they treat them more respectfully.
I would never say that because my dog does bite.
You are right. There are no such thing as "My dog doesn't bite!" or "My dog wouldn't hurt a fly!" Dogs are animals, and when they are scared. They are going to go back to their basic instincts.
@@kellygears8514 when someone asks me whether my dog bites I say, "she hasn't...yet". cause like, I'm sure she would if really pushed.
@israalqamar5658 I used to say the same thing when asked about my dogs. I would tell them he hasn't bitten anyone so far, but please don't force yourself on him.
@@kellygears8514 My puppy snapped at the vet when she was 4 months old, so I know she's got it in her if pushed too far. She's an older puppy now (8 months) and hasn't aggressively snapped since. However, I can't say she won't bite. I saw it myself!
I think this may be the growliest dog we've ever seen on this channel, start to finish. The growling is insane. I was worried that the torn muzzle would not hold her for the duration! 😳
Good news, Someone posted the colored part of those muzzles is cosmetic and helps for sizing at a glance, the black liner is the protective part.
that's one zelda even Ganandorf might reconsider kidnapping lol
@@woodstream6137 if you look closely its ripped from the green part
That uncomfy moment when you pray to gawd the muzzle holds 😳
For real, no GWTD video has triggered my fight or flight response as much as this one 😭
Maybe I've been working in customer service too long, but every growl and bark sounded like: "I wanna speak to your manager!" Other than that, Zelda is a beautiful dog, who seemed pretty chill at the end!
I love that Zelda is wearing the color green, just like Link!
You are so brave, I could never, Z sounded like she meant business
This is what you get when the human in the household ISN'T the Alpha.
@@ronjones-6977 Yep, her owners failed her.
@@stuff1784 not really. The dog growls during a groom big deal. My friends dog never leads you when leashed and never makes a sound outside of grooming.
If you're judging a dog by a grooming video it's clear you never meet the dog.
@@ronjones-6977 "Alphas" are an outdated and incorrect concept
"Zelda is stubborn like most malamutes"
Sherpa agrees 😂
Sherpa's a angel. Have you seen him get groomed?
You watch Sherpa too? I love that dog so much.
Don’t forget Phil…and Niko,Teddy,Nook and Kyush(sp?)
Those were not "all talk" growls. She definitely meant business. The owner is living in dream land if she thinks the dog won't bite a stranger in a stressful situation. That dog needs to see a trainer and I think Vanessa needs to get a bite proof muzzle for dogs like this.
Wow I’m glad everyone got through this groom ok. That growl and bark sounded scary.
She sound so scary but looks (with the muzzle) funny at the same time.
Zelda is kinda forgetful. Loved how when the towel dry happened she didn't growl until the camera man reminded her
Them she remembered I need to finish the growl show🤣😂👍👍
0:50 "Aww, she loves that!" "Yeah, for now." *demonic growl*
Right on cue 😂
She's a smart cookie who, at times, takes direction 🤣
My impression as someone who's more of a cat person was that she seemed angry, but not scared. So maybe her owners were correct. I still think the muzzle was a wise precaution, because the fact that she wouldn't bite her owners or family friends doesn't necessarily mean she wouldn't bite a stranger.
Zelda barks before the grooming even starts 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Have you considered getting an Alaskan Malamute size version of the trouble bubble?🤣 Did not get the impression the happy hoodie was going to do a thing for Zelda. Love how no matter how much attitude you are getting from a client, you just stay calm and professional and on task while respecting the animal.
Omg that would be so cute
I'd be concerned about being hit in the face with such a huge trouble bubble
Might become a trouble bowling ball. That would hurt! :-)
Zelda's owners: She won't bite!
Zelda: I know it's you Ganon, and I'm gonna mess you up again
Excellent job grooming crabby pants, you are extremely careful and really know the limits with these dogs and cats. I'm so impressed by your patience. I love watching your videos very much! Thank you for sharing!! ❤❤
Zelda knew how to make an entrance 🐶
I always find it so interesting seeing how different malamutes behave for grooming. My 10 year old Mally always gets the adornment, “He’s the best malamute I’ve ever groomed” even with the ticklish paws lol. Would love for him to make it in a video to see what he’s really like but we live in the Pacific NW and that’s pretty far. Even with how much he loves road trips lol.
Oh my. She came through the door singing the song of her people...and hummed it while muzzled. Quite the spice in that dish.
Whatever you charge isn't enough. You do a fantastic job.
I'd have a serious talk with her owners 😮
I agree. Something not right with this dog
it is a Malamute! Fluff with the owners😂
@@twoleftfeet9626you guys love to make assumptions off a short video. It’s ridiculous. She’s a malamute. They’re stubborn.
@@parryyotter Stubborn is normal. Growling at a human is absolutely not normal for them.
@@TonyYarusso perhaps it’s true in non threatening situations. But you cannot force this breed to do something it fears. Their thing is to run from danger and take their humans with them lol. This makes me think it’s it’s first visit to the groomer or groomer is new to her? She was right to muzzle it.
I guess not all grooms are as fun as others. Glad you know how to stay safe. She is a beautiful dog.
This is the growliest Malamute I've seen on CZcams! lol I was surprised! I just assumed they were all calm.
We had a half malamute, had black lab when we were kids. Her name was Natasha and she looked like a smaller malamute. She was very friendly. It's too bad that this gorgeous girl was so ill tempered.
I'm really glad that you take protection but also use still are willing to take care of the animal and make it look good.
She’s clearly irritated from fighting Gannon alone for so long
Zelda was definitely a grumbly lady! I’d have used the muzzle too even if the owners say she won’t bite. Didn’t want you to have to prove them wrong ❤
I am so glad you use your common sense and experience and use a muzzle when needed.
Those growls were scary XD like the kind they use for alley dogs in a movie
You did a beautiful job as always Vanessa. I think it’s safe to say that Zelda was warning you that she was in a “take no prisoners” mood. I agree with some other commenters that she seemed to be sensitive to touching her sides as if painful but not so with nail clipping. Hope the owners check that out with the vet.
I agree, something may be night quite right with her rear.
Some dogs just don't like their sides touched. I had a 105lb female Alaskan Malamute. She was a terror to my Dobermans and GSD. Only dog I've had who could stand up to her are my COs. They don't tolerate attitude from anyone around me.
Thanks to your channel, I know better than to ever consider getting either a husky or a malamute.
The way Zelda walked in the door screaming “IM HERE!” Is my dog at the vet to a T 😂. So vocal
That growl can be a potential motorbike sound effect for a movie💀🍿
The volume of my phone was turned up to max & then this beast comes in the first 2 seconds and stars HOWLING INTO MY ROOM.
Gosh, I can imagine the bite force of those jaws and teeth. What a powerful dog.
Zelda did not wish to be groomed today. Zelda's owners told her she was going to somewhere fun, and she was deprived of important information. Lol. Glad to see both ladies survived the ordeal. I really jumped when Zelda was kicking out. But she got her treats in the end. She was a very beautiful girl.
Zelda just came in loud and choosing violence. LOL!!!
"Why do you have so much hate ?", sorry I nearly died with laughter at that.💀🤣🤣
You are brave coupled with professional experience. It is an unbeatable combination.
I know a Malamute named Rocky who is the biggest sweetheart and he always gives us the biggest AWOO when he’s going home from daycare 😂
When you said Malamutes are stubborn, it reminded me that the morning crew at my job also have a rule where “when Rocky comes in, you take the leash from his mom and just keep walking. Don’t give him a chance to stop or you’ll never get him to the playroom” 😂
Zealous Zelda was straight up summoning every demon from every dimension to come WHOOP your ass!🤣
If I were Link, I would have left Zelda with Gannon! 😂
I thought the video title sarcastic but now I'm not sure 🤣I'm glad you didn't take chances, Vanessa. What a beautiful sweetie Zelda is. Happy father's day to the GWTD community fathers. 😘
As the owner of a half malamute, you're a saint. their coats are insane, if my dog was social id have her at a groomer every month....
"She loves that."
Zelda: DON'T TELL ME WHAT I LOVE!!
Well she's certainly a princess.
Owners: She won’t bite
Also Owners: omg she’s never bitten anyone before. You must have done something. 😂😂
Zelda: Growling and yelling
Vanessa: Tell me more.
Zelda: Keeps growling and yelling.
That was brilliant.
The subtitles for Zelda's voice were "music" & "laughter". Lol!!! (She's surely a good protector!)
2:16 because she's worried that ganondorf will kidnap her
I love the way groomers give the dogs a little bandana after it’s the cutest thing ever
YOU are brave. That dog was like a freaking wolf. Even when you gave her treats, she looked like she wanted to take your arm off.
Yeah, I was surprised that she dared to extend her hand, even with treats in the palm.
"I'll take the treats but we're still not friends!"
@@ShadowSkyX Zelda: "This peace offering is.....acceptable. But I still do not trust you."
Yikes! You are brave! Grace under pressure.
When she was growling, she sounded like my husband's truck waking up in the morning to take him to work.
What a stunning dog but yes take no risks. Love your channel
Scary! You handled her well. I was nervous for you during the whole video.
Can only imagine the tension of grooming Zelda in person.
She looked beautiful and assuredly felt much better post groom.
She is a Grumpy Pants and a Cutie Pie at the same time. 🤣
Muzzle is absolutely necessary for both your and her safety!
Aww poor Zelda 😂 she’s a beautiful animal❤️ really mouthy though😂
I sure hope they've had her checked at the vet recently as she could be sick. A huskamute that angry is angry for a reason and I don't think it's the grooming.
That Dog sounds, like a car that won't start in the morning.. 😂😂
She’s just trying to show you her sick deathcore vocals.
1:57 I _was not_ expecting this terrifying growl and bark….it startled me, and I jumped, spilling my cup all over me! Thanks for the adrenaline rush! 😅🤦♀️🤪
She is a beauty, but scary 🥰
She's a little touchy.😊
Once again you showed why you're my hero!
Its really good to see you have expanded services to motorcycles too, first that Caucasian(Rex) now this, hope you keep growing 😊
🤣🤣🤣
Shes such a loud lady 😂. I don't think she would have bitten either but i completly understand the need for precautions. Shes a sweet girl with a loud mouth
Never heard such obvious cursing.
There's no doubt in my mind she wouldn't have bitten. Those growls were not empty threats.
Zelda is probably the most dangerous client yet, there have been similarly aggressive dogs before, but not at this size.
There used to be a malamute living a few doors from me. He was fab and reacted to all the passing cars with a half hearted howl 😂. She’s so beautiful ❤. Well done with handling her 👏👏
thank you for taking care of these difficult dogs.
I was sure that she would leave you a generous tip:)
I haven't seen very many Malamutes in obedience competitions. Well, there's a reason!
They definitely find the rigid and formal environment boring and stupid, and frankly I can’t blame them - that gets old fast. However, they can excel in Rally, which is basically a more fun and varied type of obedience work that’s just less stuffy.
She’s a beautiful dog ❤
