im so sorry. my cat passed a week or two ago and this video actually reminded me of him a lot. Same sort of complaining meows but not much effort to actually try and stop what was happening. I miss him so much.

Maine Coon cats are extremely vocal. Mine always talked and balked. He didn't appear to be too distressed. Gorgeous.
Mine is super vocal as well. And I can always see the Vet techs steel themselves for combat when they take her to get a blood draw. But for some reason they always come back saying she was an angel
Mine will come up to me and carry on an entire conversation with me as if I can understand her. Chirps, trills and meows. I'm sure she is a fascinating conversationalist but I suspect she is usually complaining about the continuing presence of the dog and her imminent demise from starvation having not eaten anything in the last several minutes.
Oh yeah. With mine If he wants something he can’t have, you won’t hear the end of it. Like the huskies of the cat world.

They really all are. If you have a small group, it's all day every day. Good thing is that they somewhat like water and have no big issues with getting wet. Other breeds will want to murder you a lot faster than these guys.
As somebody that lives with two half maine coons, they really are the Huskies of the cat world: Talkative drama queens.

My cat was not eager to come out of his carrier at the vet, but super eager to get back in it afterwards.
@@Nasauniverse001 My cat had a love-hate relationship with the vet. He hated going and protested at the top of his lungs, but once he was out of his carrier all of the techs had to get their hands on him (they couldn't get enough of his "giant head," lol; Onyx's noggin was the size of a grapefruit) and he loved all the attention, so he'd calm down until he saw a thermometer or a needle.
One of my favorite pictures of one of my cats is him in his carrier, top door and front door open, and him literally GLARING into space, like he was trying to burn a hole in the wall. I took him to the urgent vet because he had been regularly vomiting (and wanted to make sure it wasn’t something more serious…it wasn’t, I paid 400 bucks for them to tell me he was constipated and needed a laxative).
But oh he was BIG MAD being there.
That was a hilarious end :) Newton telling everyone 'I am OUT of here!"
Vanessa: "It's okay. You're okay"

The way his meows progressed into his unhappy MOOO's really does tell a story. The more OOOO you hear, the more they're trying to tell humans they're unhappy about something.

This is true but I have a girl who has "fish time" where she carries her favorite toy fish around and absolutely HOWLS at a low pitch. She won't do it if she thinks anyone is watching, its a very private activity lol

Oh... My "Bear" whose real name was Wally for his giant exposed "walrus fangs," was given to him by my late father (Who died 6 years before Bear!), "I am the Walrus! Goo goo g'joob!"
*Bear was born when I was 15 years old and passed away when I was 31 years old.*
He was with me through everything. Rejected by his mom, I kept him in a sling on my body and nursed him with a bottle.
When I was 20 and he and I were on a daily walk (yes, leash trained) my _GARGANTUAN FULL-BLOODED 25-POUND blood orange eyed MAINE COON PROTECTED ME from a dog!!_
*And that is how he got the name BEAR.*
He stood up on his hind legs, front paws outstretched like arms and growled like a bear. That shepherd ran.
It's been nearly 20 years since he passed and I miss him every day. And my Father who passed away at 52 years of age.
Edit: As the *only child and daughter of a single Father,* I was essentially orphaned when he passed. I left our house after Bear died and moved North to "get to know" my mother. It has been an arduous task, to say the least, as I am, "Exactly like your Father. *You look exactly like your Father.* You even sound like him."
_A man she had not spoken to since the disgusting divorce in which at 6 years old and again at 8 years old (and at that time, 32 years old meeting her) I had to testify against her, the man I caught her cheating with when I was almost 4 years old, and my older ½ sister (mom's kid). She lost all custody as it was her second and third attempt._
This weekend we bathed my boyfriend’s cat, Coconut. He’s a white cat who likes to crawl underneath cars and get oil all over himself. We watch your videos together and your cat grooming tips were literal lifesavers. We trimmed his murder mittens before the bath, kept the water pressure of the nozzle nice and low, and we cleaned his face with a damp towel. Two people definitely made it easier, no clue how you manage do to this by yourself. Big props to you, Vanessa!
I recently bathed my cat for the first time and she was fairly well-behaved, but attempted to escape mutiple times so I had some trouble when it came to rinsing the shampoo off... I had to hold the shower nozzle with one hand and hold the cat in place with another hand, and then hope the stream of water was strong enough to rinse all the shampoo off😅 I really wished I had another set of hands to help! It always amazes me that Vanessa can properly bathe escapee cats on her own.

My mom is from Oklahoma and loves the cowboy culture, she calls her fluffy cat's pantaloons "chaps". 😊 I never thought to call them pantaloons, but I like it! 💜

I couldn't help but laugh since I have a 7 month old Maine Coon (Rocky). He doesn't "make biscuits" like every other cat I've EVER had. He's beautiful, but if he wraps around my arm, feet, legs or pretty much anything else that moves, I'm going to be in pain. He doesn't go outside, and I HAVE to have his claws trimmed or suffer the consequences. You're a very brave woman, and Newton is a beautiful kitty. Love your videos!
Training training training. Oh, and harness training. Like get a dog style harness (not a vest style) and have them get used to that. The strappy dog style harness gives you a much better handle for controlling unhelpful cats, and is a better fit for large cats. My mom's half Maine Coon boys got their first ones at 8-10 weeks (the person we got them from lied to us and sold them at 5 weeks) , and it doesn't stress them out in the slightest to wear it, but gives SO much more control over them. I'll be harness training every cat I get from this point on, given that it's proven so helpful.

Had ours for 9. The most silent cat i heve ever met. And when she meows, she can't do it properly. Her meows sound weak and hoarse.
The cat I've got reserves her meows for anger or demands of food. Otherwise, she just chirps.
When the cat was in the bath meowing, the captions said _"no no no no oh"_ and I'm like yup, that sounds about right🤣

My past Cerbee would never respond aggressively to me intentionally. One time when I went to lightly pet him, waking up he groggily swatted at me likely believing I was his annoying sister. The look of shock and slight fear on his face at hitting me was something to see on a cat.

@@perytonpred2356 main coons are HUGE, one of the largest cat breeds. They’re supposed to be 15+ pounds. Probably not obese at all! Maybe a tad overweight, but they’re also notoriously lazy.

@@BunnyQueen97 I think its cause they learn young "moving = heat" mine played a lot as a kitten, tried as her coat fluffed out (would lay on the kitchen tile panting then try to play some more) now, she only runs when she plays in the winter when its 60F in the house, otherwise, its walk to the thing, swat while laying if the thing comes close enough

omg his meowing was totally him complaining the entire time haha, poor bud. I feel for long-haired animals, their fur can be so hard to maintain, and not all animals enjoy even basic grooming with a brush. I have a proper brush and my cat still hates being brushed so it has to be done a little every day, he has a short window of toleration. The best part is he knows I'm just caring for him so he isn't hostile, just very grumpy about it lol.

Coonie😆. Had to help a coworker bathe hers during the Rona lockdown and we both have sore shoulders as an aftermath. Kaiju was an absolute unit, he made you feel like you were bathing a 4 legged sack of cement.

We got a male MC black cat at the SPCA near us. He had been returned twice and was a bit of a basket case and would not come out of his cage but hid in the back corner. The ladies at the SPCA thought he was so upset that he might not be adoptable. I sat by his cage with my hand on the floor and eventually he came out and sniffed me. He hid for the first week but now he is an extremely happy cat. So smart and well behaved and such a handsome boy. LOVES the grooming and turns out he is a VERY good mouser. We live in an old house and mice have been a problem but not any more. He has a backyard to hunt in and oddly he stays in the yard. He has become a VERY happy boy and gets LOTS of attention.
We groomed an 8 year old 25lb Maine coon cat last week(shaved for the summer,but no bath).
Kept joking about how he would meow like he was afraid his complaints would offend us.😂❤
He was so polite and sweet.

I love maine coons, had one a couple of years back. Theyre great cats and i love how huge they get but holy hell are they a lot of maintenance. Its basically a cat you have to groom like a dog, and good luck if you get one that doesnt sit still like this guy

My boy, a Russian Blue, has the same pitch when taking a bath. Only took 2 baths so far in his 5 years but boy... the entire apartment building knew something was going on 😅
And he does the same thing when we go to the vet: hard to get him out of the carrier and onto the table but when it's time to go back home, he can't get fast enough in the carrier 😆

You have no idea. And they can be real snuggle-bugs. But, man, do they get hot when they sleep on your neck, head, or chest.
They are vocal and emotional like Huskies and sweet as Saint Bernards . I have two and a third rescue cat who clearly speaks another language
I had one for 15 years. Looks and sounds exactly like Newton. They are extremely smart and can be trained. Mine on her own decision she wanted to walk on the treadmill like we did. She would sit on I and stare at you until you turned it on. She would walk and then jump off when done with her workout. Miss her soooo bad even after 4 years. 💜💜

I'm currently owned by a large breed 18lb fluffball who is dwarfed by this beautiful boy. He definitely has manners for the groomers and I can *feel* the reverberations of his "mah-ows" during his shampoo. I have a dearly missed boy who made me deaf the same way washing him many times. Outstanding job and the blow dry bit was amazing.

Reminds of my old Maine Coons Smokey and his son Naruto. Big ole fluff balls. Very very chill sweet cats normally but hoo boy they did not like being groomed.

I love Maine Coon cats so much, especially the really big ones. I love the reaction people have when they see the those mini tigers
He reminds me of our Maine coon sisters, who are all in heaven now- but they were not as placid as this cat, although they were DEFINITELY loud AF!!
