Catalan Ben, awesome video. I'm a youth coach here in the U.S. and I struggle to get our kids to understand body awareness while shooting. Balance and technique is so hard to "teach". The drills you demonstrate here are great in advancing kids knowledge of proper shooting, short cutting the years it commonly takes for kids to learn this from personal experience. Big thanks for the work you're sharing.
Much appreciated
Teaching players how to shoot whether it be with laces or curving the ball can be difficult. I think you did a great job explaining it to your player here in a way that is easy to understand. Keep it up!
Thanks for the support 😁
Err, this is way better than what I've been doing. Thank you for sharing.
Very interesting! Thanks for uploading
Thanks for watching
Thanks that helped so much!
Awesome!!
Really helpful thanks
You’re very welcome Neil! Thanks for watching! Feel free to subscribe for more!
For a good follow through the key is not only the psoas of the swinging leg, but proper glute activation of the stem leg. I think some hip extension drills before starting to shoot the ball would also be really beneficial to the drills you already do (plantarflexion, asymmetrical swing leg/arm movement and kicking motion).
Love the idea of isolating the technique without the ball first! Any way to implement my this into a training session for u12s without them feeling it's too silly to be fully motivated/ to make them see the carryover value of this? Would lead to much quicker improvement than regular shooting sessions, I think.
Thanks man! Great insight! I think the difficult part would be getting them to take it seriously. At U12 the kids might not buy into the idea. Maybe try kick pads, kids find that quite fun, and you could hopefully get them to understand the importance of technique to aid power and executing great ball striking!
Nice video
Thanks guys!!
Would you strike with your left foot if the ball is coming from the left?
Yes but not with power, usually with an open foot!
My son has a bad habit of sliding on the ground when he shoots like he's over stretching.
Do you have any ideas that would help with this? thanks
I know exactly what you mean. Had me wanting to yell at my son to stop going to the ground when shooting. He was 7 at the time. We practiced on planting his non shooting foot when shooting on a stationary ball. Also worked on having toes pointed down when shooting. Lastly we progressed to shooting on a moving ball while still practicing on planting and pointing toes down. It’s easier to have him set up his own shot from a stationary ball with a small push forward of the ball before progressing even further with a pass kinda like you see in the video. He’s eight now and his shot placement and especially shot power has improved tremendously. And he’s not doing the slide anymore.
Do you have a link to that balance pad you're using?
Just search for “balance cushion” on amazon!
@@CatalanSoccer Thanks! I bought 3 of them, and will use them with my U-14 rec team. I'll let you know the results.
Excellent! Best of luck and thanks for the support!
@@joelkeen3349 how did it work out for you, Joel?
@@joeyjojo5 I bought several, and used them at practice as Catalan Ben demonstrated. Sent a few players home with them. The balance pad helped them strengthen their plant foot, and helped players to shoot more effectively.
Funny thing about this is that I have none of these equipments 🤦♂️
Have a look on amazon, wobble cushions are relatively cheap and the kick pads (usually used for martial arts) can be em wet expensive or very cheap depending what you’re looking for 👍🏻
@@CatalanSoccer I'm looking at Amazon now. It looks like you're using one of those "curved focus punching mitts" rather the kick pads which are larger.
