I actually finished this video 3 days ago. It was done, ready to go but I felt weird about it. It's because this video concept doesn't really work well with The Rock. It kinda annoyed me tbh. I did all I could with it though but a part of me feels it's better served to have made a "The Rock's best version is..." video. Maybe we should've done Kurt Angle as the concept instead as I originally planned. What do you guys think?

    • @jeffupton8799

Angle would be a good one, also HHH, Taker, Eddie, Flair

Whether it be face or heel, The Rock is and always will be one of the greatest stars in all of wrestling and entertainment history. His charisma is always over the top, and that over the top personality is all he needs to be a massive success. Truly is The Great One for a reason.

The irony of the Rock is that like many of the Attitude Era greats, his character is better suited as a heel, but he was so entertaining and charismatic that he was nearly impossible to hate.

I think The Rock is better than Stone Cold and part of the reason why is because The Rock is able to be over as both a believable heel and a believable face. As a heel the best version is Corporate Rock and as a face the best version is People's Champion.

    1. What's even more crazy is the fact that Rock was ALWAYS positioned as the Number 2 to Austin 👍
    2. No matter how many times Rock ECLIPSED Austin in popularity, and drawing power, Rock was always booked as the 2nd man. 🤦‍♂️
    3. I can remember certain points where Rock was hotter 🔥 than Austin, but they would have Rock lose 🤦‍♂️.
    4. When Austin walked out. Rock picked up the weight and was pulling double duty in Hollywood and WWE.

Late 99 Rock was definitely the hotter star, his merchandise was selling more and his catchphrases started becoming more and more popular. Yet he was still booked as the number 2 star because Austin was still positioned there and Vince probably felt a certain sense of loyalty to Austin.

I think prime attitude era Rock was at his best as a face
However, modern day bald headed movie star Dwayne Johnson Rock, has done his best work as the heel Final Boss of The Bloodline
Like, his schtick for the past number of years of him showing up and then trading insults with some random heel wrestler was getting old and stale
The Final Boss character really brought out something in him.

rock can be both very well, most wrestlers are better as heels tho since they have more freedom and its just more fun to act like a dick, and honestly its just easier to be a dick than a likable good guy, thats why i think its more impressive to see a great babyface than a great heel. Anyone can be unlikeable but if you can get people to fight for you because they love you so much thats truly impressive

I started cooling off on the Rock towards 2001. He started tweaking his character a bit - more mannerisms, more “hyper” for lack of a better term. I just started thinking “this ain’t the same Rock.” It was when he went Hollywood Rock that I was a fan again

I like both versions of The Rock, the only thing I didn't like, was the later iteration of babyface Rock from the early 2000's, (2000 to 2003). That's when he started relying too much on the jokes, and when they started getting corny like the "hermaphrodite" insult, that he used to say to Kevin Kelly, his frequent use of pie and strudel innuendos, and the whole "What in the blue hell is wrong with you ?" or "Sweet cream on an ice cream sandwich" and all that stupid crap he was saying. That's why a lot of people think The Rock is overrated on the microphone, because they've only seen his later years, but he wasn't always like that. Nation and Corporation Rock from 1997 to 1999, is way better.
