I have a few walthers and for a striker fired pistol their factory pro trigger is amazing. I have the f series up to the black tie (I don’t shoot it) and the pdp sd pro comes with the upgraded trigger. That said this hammer fired 2011 is on order and their site makes it so customizable it’s great!
I got on their site last night and it is pretty impressive all the options available. It's proven quite popular since wait times are now 16 weeks. I am sure Stealth Arms is working on it so I am going to wait a bit for a G19 magazine frame. That with the commander slide would make an awesome CCW. For all the options available, I think pricing is reasonable.
I know you can get the trigger done in a few different ways. They have a competition trigger setup which sounds like what you have; 2.5lbs-3.0lbs. Seems like it's a decent gun, can't decide to get this or a cz shadow 2.
1:32 would you say it’s a aluminum frame since the “grip” portion can’t come off like your traditional 2011’s or Prodigys? Once that texture is on that frame there’s no swapping grips right?
Its not a self defense purpose built gun to have 4-6 pound trigger, its a race/competition/range toy 2011 gun that you want a low weight single stage trigger!
This does not pertain to this video but I was wondering if you can help me out. I have a prodigy 4.25 I put a atlas trigger and recently just put a Dawson precision ejector in it. After I put that ejector in my prodigy has been shooting multiple shots at once. Have you ever encountered something like this?
Www.SkipsGuns.com U bent the sear spring and ur getting hammer follow it’s not something I can really explain except bend the spring tab on the left towards the front of the gun to stop the hammer follow.
A friend who knows 1911s went to the SA booth at NRAAM and found out it full of proprietary parts. They even mention on their website that the thumb safety is not compatible with the standard 1911.
Yeah, needs a comp or a gas pedal. The guide rod too. It's a pain taking a specific Allen wrench to the range in case you need to change the spring weight. Needs a bull barrel too. I haven't seen a 1000k round review on one of these yet. But I'm going to look for one. The glock mags kind of make me curious. Because there are so many different glock mag companies. I would think you would need a high quality mag to keep it reliable.
Great review. Been deciding if I should buy this in Commander size or the STACCATO C2. Will a tooless guide rod work in this?? Also hope they come out with a bul barrel
I held one at NRAAM. I like the finger grooves on a Gen3 Glock. I also liked them on this. One of the guys at the booth said they were the same. I would say the distance between them was the same, but the SA actually felt better.
I was going to buy a Staccato P until I saw SA's PP, I could not resist- the customization w/G-mags got me! I ordered mine two days ago (6wks lead time). Wondering, would a bull barrel be a simple drop in, if made available after receiving my new little friend? Hopefully SA is looking at reviews to get a pulse of what people want...BULL BARREL PLEASE
Wow! They started with a 2 week lead time, then went to a 4 week lead time, & now 6 week. That is a good thing, means people are buying them & we will see tons more reviews. I think I have 10 different custom configurations saved on their website.
Is this something that would be considered comparable to the prodigy or staccato? Or should this be considered a different beast entirely due to the concept of running on Glock mags?
No mention whether it is tight, loose, accuracy? Barrel fit? Frame to slide fit? Recoil impulse? A double stack that takes glock mag's. Anything other than that that separate's it from the R.I offering other than 50%higher price? We need more info than it runs nice. very subjective! KnifeMaker
This was a general review bud every gun is different so y say anything about fit on this one when I’m redoing the barrel and Porting it. It’s a good platform nice parts and good shooter in stock form
@@tommymorgan9293 you’re telling me a 2lbs trigger isn’t light in any situation? I’m not talking static shooting if you need a competition gun…clearly you’ve never felt a trigger that light or ever shot under stress and duress, clearly you’ve never shot competitively where you’re running and gunning, clearly you don’t know what it feels like to prep a trigger while getting a sight pitcher and CLEARLY you’re just a dude on the internet who just talks and hides behind a screen never showing you or your face.
You can get a 4.5-5 pound trigger, a 3.5-4 pound, or a 2-2.5 pound all options for pull weight.
Shot one last week at the range after shooting my PDP. Totally different world. Smooth and accurate gun.

My go to gun before I got the prodigy was the pdp. Yes, just a different world!

Agreed
Nice review. It sounds like alot of quality parts and details go into these guns. 👍👍
Really shocked me
From what ive read a big ole zero mim parts
Nice concept gun. Weird name but appropriate.
True
My PLATYPUS should arrive soon. I also hope they make a BULL BARREL so I can do the V8 COMP .
Got one on the way. Hoping to see companies offering bull barrels and comps.
I wana drop one in
@SkipsGunz would a standard bull barrel work ?
@@SkipsGunz if you offer it I’ll be watching!
Working on doing a bull barrel soon hopefully
@@SkipsGunz I’ll keep an eye out for that!
you can get them in other weighted triggers. mine is 3.5 but they do 4.5 and 2.5
This was a older model
@@SkipsGunz wasnt the super light trigger the new one though?
Nice review, thanks for validating this firearm.

Beautiful review! I have learned so much. Going to have to try this one.
Watch this video it’s my first actual gun demo I’m releasing
First shots of the Competitor

Nice another review. I've been eyeing this one, but not enough optic options yet

Absolutely 💯 correct sir
@@SkipsGunz HEY OH! Believe and achieve FOLKS!!!!
Now let me see your certification number 🫵🏻
Should have named it F$@k a Duck😅
That good to know that the tti extension works… another video the guy said the do Not work

Ohhhh ok wasn’t aware this was a race gun
@@SkipsGunz Yah, when you said it had a 2lb trigger, it's the competition trigger. They have 2 other trigger choices.
Great vid bud,when I’m ready a 10 mm platypus.
He bought the comp trigger
Bullseye type accuracy at 25 to 50 yards compared to a Staccato P or Wilson Combat?
It’s a great idea!! Hey Skip, can you do work on a hi cap RIA 1911??? Pleeeeease say yes!

So out of the box, how does the platypus compare to the Staccato P???
I'm going to order one, as soon as SA opens the books for the 407k optic cut.
We’ll go order cause it’s up lol
How would you compare this to one of your "Better prodigy" upgraded prodigy?
There 2 different guns there’s more improvement to be had on the prodigy
"The safety is a little small... Nothing wrong with that though" I cant tell if that was a joke on purpose or i just think like a 10 year old, lol.
Lol 😝
seems like a great gun
You beautiful bastard! I've been waiting for this! Are you noticing any parts compatibility with 1911/2011? Or is completely proprietary?

I can fit tooless and bull and port it www.SkipsGuns.com
Man you need to do a review of the commander size.
I’d like to
I wish they’d do the platypus in a 80% kit
I hate when I have to sit on ammo cans. I am ordering this,, but not to funky.
Definitely poor planning on my end that day
awesome review.
Thanks dude

Finger grooves on my Glock 17 don’t bother me but I’m not sure if I’d like those. Wish I could feel it before ordering

Can you port this? Or better yet a plague comp...
I'll give it to you to review and shoot 👍
I did in a later video but a lot goes into it so it’s something I don’t do now.

Hmmm 🤔 good question I guess different beast it’s a hybrid I liked it
Just placed my order for a platypus are there any specific tool-less guide rods you would recommend?
Atlas or dawson
Does it fit in holsters for Staccatos?
According to their website it does not. Unfortunately
Recoil seems a touch jumpy for what it is. How does the grip size compare to other 2011s on the market?
Surprisingly comfortable
do you know what base plates are on those glock mags?
Tti i put on
Can it take any aftermarket toolless guide rod?
Yes, I put a Dawson tool-less guide rod on mine. No issues.
timthegatman
I've always wanted the platypus and the fact it takes glock mags. BTW skip guns I been trying to email and never get a response for work on my prodigy
Hmm steykaerts1983@aol.com
Maybe it went to junk mail
I like mine czcams.com/users/shorts3phu7JsClZE?feature=share
