- Inside of Auschwitz the largest concentration camp established by the SS and the Third Reich during World War 2, there were two blocks which were incredibly feared. Block 11 was known as the punishment block where the standing cells were found, and it was here where torture was administered and in between Block 10 and 11 was the Death Wall. Many thousands of prisoners were executed next to the Death Wall, but Block 10 was equally as brutal and notorious. It was inside of Block 10 where a number of Nazi and SS doctors conducted barbaric human experiments on the prisoners of Auschwitz.
The prisoners knew that if they were taken to Block 10 they would probably never make it out alive. Inside here evil doctors conducted sterilisation experiments where they used X-ray machines, and also many prisoners were deliberately infected with deadly diseases. Many more were executed by injections as soon as they entered the block, but it was a place where many doctors such as Josef Mengele treated people terribly. The experiments were very unethical and barbaric.

I’m a nurse. I once had a patient who was a camp survivor. A lovely Jewish gentleman. I’ll never forget our conversation.
I spotted his number tattooed on his arm. One day I worked up the courage to ask him of his tattoo was what I thought it was. He looked at me and said “Yes, it is sweet girl”. Then I asked if he minded me asking him a question that might be difficult. He said i could. He doesn’t mind talking about it, as it helped him to heal from the mental scars. So I asked him “Did you lose anyone? “
He looked at me, tears in his eyes replied “Yes, everybody, I was the only survivor in my family”. My heart broke for him, so I gave him a huge hug and told him how sorry I was he went through all that.
He went on to tell me he went to live with another Jewish family in the UK that adopted him and brought him up as their own and about the day the camp was liberated, the soldier that picked him up and took him to safety as he was too weak to stand. I had tears in my eyes as he told me different stories.
It's just amazing how any of them survived. I would've hugged him as well because they deserved nothing but kindness at the very least. Thanks for sharing your story. You can also watch some survivor stories out here as I do quite often. We need to remember to be kind to one another because we never know what people are going through. I just helped a lady carry things to her car earlier today as people just stood and didn't help her and even other workers ignored her. I wasn't supposed to leave my area but told my lead I was going to anyway because I could see the hurt in her eyes (plus my lead ignored her after asking if the lady needed help and she said yes because the lady told me) and I could just tell she needed someone there. Come to find out she had slipped in the tub about a week prior and layed there yelling for her husband, who ignored her (he was unkind to her the whole time they were married) and her back had hit the taps leaving her almost unable to walk let alone lift groceries. Then her husband died a couple days ago and left her with nothing. So now she's loosing her house and he also never touched, kissed, or ever had a kind word to say to her. There was a lot more and it was such a heartbreaking story and I also hugged her as all she wanted was a bit of kindness. I could see her fighting back emotions and I told her how ashamed I was of my co-worker. A bit of kindness goes a long way. Sorry my response was so long lol

I just learned about block 10 and 11 on another channel. People would literally run or get past as quickly as possible because of all the tortures. The fact they had the killing wall right in-between as well is just so heartbreaking. The things they went through just sends shivers down my spine 😔
I was there yesterday. 'The death wall' in the courtyard is very eerie indeed.
To my dying day I will never understand how hunting down every single person who willfully and with a song in their hearts and exacting justice matching their crimes wasn't the most important duty that every person every government of every nation didn't pledge their full cooperation and lasting commitment to....too many went off and got to live unburdened lives while it seemed that the world was more than happy to just move on it's a stain on humanity that will forever haunt every decent person
I agree wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, there were those who were given a free pass if they agreed to cooperate with the United States on their rocket and jet propulsion research and development.

The rocket scientists had nothing to do with any of what was happening outside of developing rockets and doing the same science they would have done anyway. They held no responsibility for any part of what the SS did. At that rate you are saying they should have hung every German that lived. The farmers, the shop owners, the factory workers, the shoe shiners.. Now if you had said the medical scientists that experimented on unwilling people, that's another story. But what did the rocket men ever do to you or anyone else?

@@LRBerry To produce in factories once developed, not used by the scientists in the lab working out the math. The scientists had no care and often not even fully aware of what the SS did. They just did science all day every day.
I'm surprised the nazi's that were caught were given such an easy quick death. That should NEVER happen again.
This was the German populace doing this...the grandparents of the German people alive today. Never think it can't happen again. It plays out in smaller scale today...but we look away, thinking the world learned it's lesson. .

How monsters such as the SS, Einsatzgruppen, and their cohorts could exact unspeakable tortures and commit mass murder without even flinching is very hard for me to understand. So sickening, tragic, and infuriating to me. May their victims rest in peace, never again to suffer at the hands of those devilish thugs. As for the perpetrators of those ghastly crimes, may their names be cursed with infamy, awful reproach, and utter shame for all time on this earth. Thank you for this video. Today, in Block 10, you will see the preservation of photos, and various items of the Jewish prisoners. Take the Auschwitz tour if you can. I strongly recommend it.

I will probably go there again. I went with my school, but sadly some in the class under ours spit (to mock) right by the rails.. I would like to go there without people like that and really take in what happened. But I do remember how awful it felt seeing the chamber, walking up the stairs and see all the belongnings and read the stories there, and I think it is important to know about what happened. I think block 10 was closed then though. I truly hope that those visiting follow the rules and show respect for the victims, because it is so important that this place exist so that we can learn.
That said I also recommend it. And hire a guide even if you aren't in a group is very good to be able to understand better.

They should be called people because this is what they are. Dehuminazing them leads to thinking that it cant happen again or with only very special people. The average joe can become much darker than you think.

I read that prisoners both Jewish and non Jewish said Dr Eduoard Wirths was kind and decent to all he came into contact with,but was basically in charge of block 10 and all the evil doctors worked under him. What a bizarre character.

The horrors perpetrated by the German nation during the Nazi era are one of the greatest stains on human history - we can forgive but must never forget.
Alot of these inmates and not only jews!, were also donned with iron neck collars. These iron collars had 5 to 6inch jagged iron extending out. This insured that no inmate could move at all in the standing cells.
