- June 12 | Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) joins MSNBC's The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell after Republicans blocked the unanimous consent request to pass Senator Whitehouse’s Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act.
The SCERT Act would require Supreme Court justices to adopt a binding code of conduct, create a mechanism to investigate alleged violations of the code of conduct and other laws, improve disclosure and transparency when a justice has a connection to a party or amicus before the Court, and require justices to explain their recusal decisions to the public.

I can't thank Senator Whitehouse enough for his persistence in working to ensure SCOTUS is held to a standard code of ethical conduct. It is disgraceful that any Senator would object to this given the recent behavior of the current Supreme Court.

I feel I must add to your statement a correction - it was NOT MOST Germans who support shittler - he support was the minority and he manipulated the party he joined the Nazional-Sozialistische Arbeiters Partei NAZI Party for short. It was a socialist worker’s so a union party. Shittler did not create the party he joined it in 20/21 then manipulated the party to make concessions to corporations so the corporations would support the production of the “war-machine”. When Germany just BANNED its Naze Hammerskins Party in ‘22/23 reflective of 5% of the population - AFTER they attempted a 1/6 style insurrection with August the XIII, which triggered 25 arrests and over 400 investigations overnight. I think it IS very important to call out nazis and fascists if they make a threatening bug deal alluding to their and if their family’s prior support to a mass murderer and dictator but accusing the majority of Germans of having supported this regime that is not correct. Martha was issuing a threat so it’s important to point that out immediately. Additionally I want to point out that her alleged Christianity is warped. The sacred heart of Jesus is a post renaissance revolutionary Christian image, so it is not an image that stems from the Bible but instead from much MUCH later, likely coinciding more with Martin Luther’s insurrection against the Catholic Church in 1509 which earned him a warrant for his arrest by the pope, to be burned as a heretic at the stake. His followers are one branch of the ancestors of the current evangelical extremist Christian’s here.

Leaving the failings of the court aside for a moment, I'd caution not to sweep all German people into a bad or shameful category. Not all German people are bad, and, as we in America are painfully learning, many fell into a situation from which they could find no recourse. Please don't musunderstand - I'm not making excuses - I'm just trying to say it could happen to anyone without much vigilance and critical thinking. It's a mistake to stereotype people.
It could be said Mrs. Alito is bringing shame to the millions of people in this country of German heritage in what appears to be some perverted allegiance to the powers of that troubled time. It sounds like maybe she's got some soul-searching to do.

With regard to Alito, one of the most succinct statements about him I have heard came from Emily Baden (former neighbor): "...being impartial is (Alito's) bare minimum job description, and he has said on tape that he can't do that." Thomas has made his job on the SCOTUS essentially his second job. That's not what we're paying him to do.

SCOTUS has more than a Pennsylvania State Workers. Well, of course because Expand SCOTUS 2x's to equal Eleven District Courts. Each SCOTUS can rule over 1/2 District Courts so five thousand requests to SCOTUS can be heard. Instead of FIVE per year.
