  • Highlights of our 2 week honeymoon to Mexico!
Our honeymoon starts in Cancun where we picked up a rental car to drive to Bacalar. Bacalar is a beautiful small city located near the border of Belize and Mexico in the Yucatan. Known for its amazing lagoon of 7 colors and Los Rapidos lazy river. After a couple of hours we decided to stop in Tulum and spend the night before Bacalar.
We stayed at La Zebra Hotel in the hotel zone, with a beautiful ocean view room the had its own pool and was next to the restaurant/bar area. The next day we continued our drive to Bacalar, and Bacalar was truly the underdog during our stay. It is a small city with an amazing lagoon, its not flooded with tourists, prices are very reasonable for food and drinks, hotels are reasonable priced, and its easy to walk around to get places.
It is very hot though, so be sure to wear your sunscreen. After Bacalar we drove back up to Cancun to return our rental car, and on our way up we stopped by the Muyil Mayan Ruins, this is a must if you're near Bacalar or Tulum. The entire tour of the site can be done in an hour or less. After Myuil we rushed to cancun to return the car, and make our way to the bus terminal to catch a bus to our next destination. Holbox. Holbox Island or Isla Holbox is an island north of Cancun.
It is basically a huge sand bar and no cars are allowed on the island. It was our second time in Holbox and we really enjoyed being back! Holbox has some of the best beaches we have visited around the world and currently holds the record for our favorite sunset!
Our last stop is in Mexico city, but that's after a very long trip, to get to Mexico City we had to travel by land, sea and air. That also includes a 5 hour wait at the airport because of flight delays. Once in Mexico city we visited many of the places we did during covid except everything was closed during covid. We also visited teotihuacan and xochimilco!
