  • I have been looking forward to this interaction with the team of #Attack for quite some time as I have always considered the people associated with the project some of the most honest, self reflective & hardworking people. Don't blame #Bollywood for not working towards innovative projects if you won't be tuning in for this movie on 1st of April. I sat down with #JohnAbraham , music composer Shashwat Sachdev and the film's director, Lakshya Raj Anand to discuss various facets of the film! I hope you like the interview.

John cleared his MBA by standing 7th in his entire university, worked at a media firm, undertook modelling assignments, acted in music videos of pop singers, won Gladrags and then made his debut in Bollywood. A true self made star.

There's a scene in New York where John's character after getting tortured for days in a detention camp is given a bowl of pudding or something to eat and he begins devouring it hungrily despite its deliberately substandard quality, breaking down into sobs at regular intervals while gulping it down. Meant to convey that despite the humiliation heaped on him, he is compelled to fulfill his physiological need. Man what a performance that was! That one scene got ingrained into my mind and I wondered why John is considered a non-actor when he can clearly nail it when he is in the right hands.

John has always been a tailor made actor when it comes to intensity. I remember the scenes in zinda where he went head to head with Sanjay Dutt and I felt that probably only John Abraham could have matched Sanjay Dutt scene for scene, intensity wise. That scene where he stabs Mahesh Manjrekar repeatedly saying " My sister was not a whore" was very very intense.

For all those lambasting John here, please understand that there are always two sides to a story. Being in the public eye 24*7, constantly under the glare of the spotlight, cameras and mobile phones, it can get a bit frustrating for celebrities to be constantly accessible to the public. So John probably reacted on instinct and pushed away those who got uncomfortably close to him. We would mostly react in the same manner if someone invades our space to get a selfie or something, that too without our consent. I mean no one would want a random person to appear out of nowhere and thrust a cell phone camera in their face. At least I have not seen John pushing away someone asking permission for a selfie.
As for animal cruelty, John is a vegetarian. He quit eating non-veg fare long back. Must have been 14-15 years. He follows a simple diet of home-cooked food and the required protein for his bodybuilding processes. So kindly get your facts right people. 🤦‍♂️

    | 21:40 | John saying that “i think we lost john abraham somewhere down the line” really shows how honest and true he is to himself and his craft. this type of attentiveness towards the reality of the present is very rare to see in today’s “celebrities” and it really hit hard when someone of his caliber came on record to speak out about something like this that has been actively happening in the film industry, and emphasis on the fact that he was forced out of making the type of movies he was known for.

For some reason the media created his perception as someone who's a hunk but a lightweight in the acting department. And John himself started believing it, rating himself very low as an actor. But be it his very first acting outing like Jism or his noteworthy performances in films like Dhoom which elevated him to stardom, Water, Taxi No 9211, Kabul Express, New York, Madras Cafe, Rome Akbar Walter, Balta House, etc, he's nailed all of them.

John is definitely a superstar in his own right. He is not someone with a mass following at the box office or someone who can always guarantee a blockbuster opening weekend. For someone with an on and off box office status, John seems pretty confident pitting his films against some of the biggest banner films and supremely hyped vehicles. It's like he simply doesn't care and says this is my product, I am delivering it to the audience this and this day, let's see how much it works. Even the biggest of stars avoid high-profile box office clashes. John's got some serious balls!

he has no market he cannot carry any film on his own. You watch his movie in an empty theatre. With big movie clash attests people who didn’t get tickets for a bigger movie will watch his movie to kill time.

@@luckyali977 You clearly didn't warch his interview properly then. He did mention that risks should be taken irrespective of the outcome else change will never come to be. At the most the film would run to empty theaters but at least personally he would have the creative satisfaction of accomplishing something. That's the point. He enjoys the process more than the result. He has no pressures of maintaining stardom or some position or rank in the film industry. Hence, he takes more risks than the average Hindi cinema star and isn't afraid of clashes with bigger films. His films like Satyameva Jayate 1 and Batla House held their own against bigger and better marketed films, emerging victorious.

John might have gone wrong with his ambition of mass stardom doing absurdities like Satyameva Jayate 2 but he definitely should be hailed for his choice of subjects overall. It takes courage to back a taboo subject like sperm donation especially in a pre-woke India when there was all the possibility of its failure. Or a movie like Batla House in a post-woke India where his loyalties could be questioned.
