    Never have i been more excited for a series like this one. Mx6 turbo is the first turbo car I ever had and since then I always have to have a turbo car around. Also have a blue gc8 like U guys but the mx6 was my introduction to a turbo car. Still smile about the first time I hit boost

      So true, I'll always remember my first time getting on boost.

      Same here, when I was 16yrs old I owned a red gt 5spd, always loved these cars, it was a very fun car… bought it for $600 bucks with immaculate body, the car was over boosting and hitting boost cut and the owner didn’t know what was wrong with it and ran like shit, turned out it just had a stuck wastegate that I fixed for free and the car ran amazing for like a year then I had to replace exhaust manifold stud on it once and they were stripped out and had to get a shop to fix the stud holes, luckily they were able to do it without taking the head off

    Cant wait until Ep. 3 when they go for a spin, hit boost, and the clutch slips like crazy. The good old mx6, my first turbo car, my first love.

    Fixing up your first car is always sentimental and satisfying, doesn’t exactly depend on the process itself

  • @Legotruck82
    @Legotruck82 Před 3 lety +7

    no point in upgrading the turbo if you don't want more things to break. For a sentimental cruiser leaving it stock just makes sense

    Just buy brand new shifter bushes from Kia. They’re the same. Did that with my GD 626, and several 323s over the years.
    As a massive TX3 fan I always had a soft spot for MX6es. I remember racing one at the Friday night Street drags back in the day.

    Thank you so much for this series! Was the car I learned to drive on. And our shifter was just like that. And it broke the exhaust studs also! Good to see halfway around the world and some things don't change. One last thing is the balancer has the rubber in the pulley on the front, the one that was on my car came apart, something to look out for.

    Keep it simple! Love the cap and rotor explanation for the younger folks. Not everything is dbw and cop. It could be, though ;)

    I had a '91 MX-6 GT White with blue interior, basically what you've got there, loved that car! The seats were top notch and how about that oscillating button for the dash vents! I think they can handle 14 psi before boost cut. Turn that baby up and hold on! I'd love to do what you guys are doing right now, but here in eastern Canada older Mazda's don't exist anymore. They all just rusted away to road dust. Like even up to 2006 lolz.

    I use bronze oilite bushings for my shift linkages. To get ALL the slack out there is one pin that needs to be drilled out on the transmission end of the linkage and replaced with a 10mm bolt. I have the link to the bushings I use if anyone is interested.

  • @mazparts007completeautospa2

    You might regret using cheap exhaust gaskets with no fire rings on a turbo engine. I've seen them disintegrated on multiple occasions. Too much pressure and heat in a turbo application. They are ok on NA engines but a s/h factory Mx6 gasket is likely to be more reliable.

    T4 and a megasquirt. Clean out EGR passage (known to block) Box will take close to 400hp. Fast reliable, dailied one for years running a Microtech and gt28. Lost it in a house fire in 2018

      Most of Mazda’s 1990s transmissions were. I swapped out a few gearboxes in my TX3 back in the day. That’s why people are putting in MR2 boxes into high powered FWD Mazdas nowadays, and GT4 or RAV4 boxes into the AWDs.
