  • The journey is far from over for Airbus’ double-deck A380 jetliner, which has a special position with the airlines that have placed it strategically at the heart of their fleet operations. Airbus is continuing to fully support all A380 operators and their fleets on over 70 destinations around the world. Since its entry into service in 2007, the iconic A380 has flown over 800,000 flights carrying more than 300 million passengers.

      @@Cowboybrian01 The logistical nightmare is a manufacturer problem, not an airline company one. Airbus thought companies would replace 2 or 3 smaller airliners for a big one in order to cut the costs or saving take-off/landings slots. Unfortunately, this is not how it works, the passengers have their voice too.

It was an ego project for the EU and it lost airbus billions.
      (And it's butt ugly).

      The thing about carbon footprint is that it has been too high since +- 1980 and has been way too high every year since then. An ecological footprint that is too high actually indicates that you are endangering the survival of your species. You understand that an airplane emits more per mile than, for example, a train or a car. So it gives airline passengers a sky-high carbon footprint, which will almost certainly "end" the survival of many people by 2050. How come strict measures are not taken against this life-threatening form of transport that is not vital?

    Still remember 15 years ago when A380 was about to enter service, so many "specialists" and airlines praising how efficient, slot-saving, air traffic congestion easing that the A380 would be. In the end, just prove again how fake people are. Nonetheless, A380 definitely played a significant role in human history. The gigantic size, technology, elevated passenger experience, etc. are just nothing can beat. Feeling blessed that I flew A380 several times to Singapore, London and Paris before, particular in the upper deck. Just hope AIRBUS keep getting stronger! A380 Forever!

      not only was the 747 in production for 3x longer than the A380, but it also sold 10x more units, Airbus was Incredibly late to party when building the A380.

    • @simonm1447
      @simonm1447 Před 2 lety

      @@cononodapotato6920 Airbus was too late to compete with the 747, but too early to compete with new carbon fiber airliners with more modern engines. The A 380 of course uses carbon fiber, but only in some areas while A 350 and 787 uses much more and they consume just 2,5 l per seat and 100 km, around 0,5 l less than the 380.
      A more modern, lighter construction with newer engines and a better wing (the A 380 wing is oversized for the - 800 since it was designed for bigger versions and it has an inferior aspect ratio) would be more competitive today.

    I must agree and disagree at the same. #A380 was a masterpiece. But it was a masterpiece which we do not need anymore! A380, it's technology, it was just awesome when it launched. But I feel it is dying because of a mistake. You made only the passenger variant of the plane, and that is the reason it slowly dies. Boeing took it's 747 and made it a passenger, cargo and special aircraft. It was way more flexible the the A380. Apart from that, world didn't need another huge aircraft. We already had AN-124, AN-225, Boeing 747, and many others at the time!

      It's superior in passenger comfort. The 380 is incredible quiet inside the cabin, even quieter than the 777-300 ER which came on market in the early 2000s. Optically the 747 is surely the better looking aircraft, but if you sit inside you don't see it from outside but benefit from the better comfort.
