    Why is everyone acting like the beluga is being retired, they’ve just delivered all of the beluga’s that airbus needs 🤷‍♂️

    Most people don't seem to understand, this is the LAST DELIVERED XL, so they will be in use for the next 20/30 years, no more production or orders of XL, now they will be fully in service :)
    They will be seen more than before

      consider that nobody except airbus themselves use the beluga, it’s their own personal big cargo plane for delivering aircraft parts

      ​@@datutturugang666 that's all gonna change as Airbus has recently opened an air cargo company which will exclusively use the classic Beluga airplanes (so NOT the newer XL versions. Beluga XL is entirely dedicated to transporting airplane parts). So yeah...the older Beluga planes are gonna become freighter aircrafts

      If airbus retires all 6 of it's beluga XL after the end of their service life, they may design another transporter, most likely based on the A380.

      @@MattOdtujan the A380 has been out of production since 2021, and its final assembly line has been converted for A320 family manufacturing.

    I think the reason for all the confusion in the comments is that the word "delivery" could mean the aircraft itself was delivered from the factory (the intended meaning) or a payload was delivered somewhere BY the aircraft, which is what a lot of us thought when we saw the video title.

    Nothing happened guys! It's the last delivery, not retirement, plus the beluga will never die, when the time comes, just like the for the beluga st, a new beluga will take's it place, expect to see these things fly for atleast 15-20 years!

      That would be impossible. As an A380 Beluga Is Now Double The Weight and double the height. If it's double the height, Airbus would need to build a delivery centre double the height as well.

    I just wish that Airbus had used the A380 as a base for the Beluga, that would have been a really Super XXXL transporter.

      @@matthewbaynham6286 The A380 is already extremely heavy, adding the extra cargo needs would ad a good 1,000 pounds for electronics for a large cargo door and other things like that, then the cargo that it would be carrying ads like 5,000 pounds and it would need a very large runway and little fuel to be able to fly long routes. That’s why the A380 F never happened

      An A340-based Beluga was considered by Airbus, but neither the A340 or A380 would be able to use the relatively short runway at the Broughton wing plant in North Wales.

    The first generation of Beluga's have a lot of differences compared to today's Beluga. Many things stay the same though, The Beluga Whale Shape, The large cargo capacity and it being an Airbus Transporter. The new beluga today does have a mouth around the cockpit and winglets, as it is an A330-743l, and the predecessor was an A300-600ST. The beluga is a beautiful aircraft and will stay in the sky for years to come.

      Not really. What were they meant to do? Build their own version? The guppy planes were needed for the a300 which means since it hadn’t existed yet the a300 wouldn’t be bringing in money that they could use to build their own.
      It’s not crazy at all. Very sensible. Also they were mainly from NASA so it’s not as if they bought them from Boeing

      Delivery of XL1 means Airbus now has all Belugas in service. To my understanding the XL1 was held back for additional certification and tests, but now the program is finished and the XL1 could be delivered to it's actual purpose.
