Thank you for the discussion on Monsters Johanna. I have seen so many reviews that just give a book summary and not an actual opinion/thoughts of whether you can/should separate art from artist - which I think is the whole point of the book :) I think you are spot on in your thoughts that it is quite complicated. I also have a problem with cancel culture. It's so one dimensional. And I also love John Marrs. The One is my absolute favorite. It left me feeling really icky in the best possible way.

I think we’ve established that Lucy is the head of your household.🐶 I laughed when you looked at your genre chart and asked, “Who even am I?” 🤣You had a very good reading month! You’ve sold me on “Blue Sisters” but I have to wait until September for its release in Canada. One the highlights of my May reading month was “I Hope This Finds You Well” by Natalie Sue (2024) in which a Canadian office worker named Joleen accidentally gains access to the emails of her colleagues. If you’ve ever worked in an office, you’ll recognize yourself and/or your colleagues, and you’ll have a laugh.

Yes Lucy is the boss! Ha ha ha my genres were a surprise to me for last month! Spookily enough I’ve just started reading that book on audio during the week and enjoying it so far as I work in an office

@@MeMyDogAndBooks That IS a spooky coincidence! I left the exact same comment about “I Hope This Finds You Well” on Jen's blog because I like it so much that I'm spreading the word.

I read this book and liked it but I honestly don’t think you can reasonably lump JKR with the likes of the rapists the author writes about. You always give me an unexpected book and this month it’s Paris, now reserved at the library. My favourite book of May is an old one (1992) Bastard Out Of Carolina, reminded me of The Savage Side.

Of course not the likes of woody Allen and Picasso etc are no where near in the same camp of an author with opinions that some might find offensive and I don’t think the author tries to do that it’s just more about the art and artist where there’s controversy but yeah it’s not in the same boat at all. Oooh hope you enjoy Paris it’s was an unexpected great read for me
