Extremely Large Numbers Comparison (and Their Meanings)

  • How much is a trillion? Yeah, this number is already insane, but it’s just our starting point. Try to wrap your head around the fact that one trillion seconds is 32,000 years. And from here - let’s go further. There are 3 trillion trees on our planet. Compare that to 7.8 billion people and realize how insignificant we are in our own world.
    6 trillion miles is a distance more or less equal to one light year. That’s how far light - the fastest thing in the Universe - travels in a single year. And that’s not even close to the nearest star apart from the Sun. A human body consists of 37 trillion cells. Each day, you lose from 50 to 70 billion of them, and they always get replaced by other, new ones. The largest known galaxy in the Universe, called IC 1101, consists of about 100 trillion stars. That's really impressive! But what numbers are higher than a trillion? What do you know about quadrillion, quintillion, sextillion, and other absurdly big numbers?

    • @mumujibirb
      @mumujibirb Před 3 lety +1

      Actually, since we have finite amount of particles in the universe, it is 100% possible to calculate how many universe can exist, every possible combination of particles in the universe. Since we can estimate that the universe around when the universe will cease to exist, as in the end of the black hole era, we can measure, in plank time, how many “frames “ the universe has, and each frame has the same probability of around 10^80atoms (of course it counting that one particles may be lost). Therefore, this number is still finite.

      pi's between 3 and 4, it has infinite digits but finite value. Each digit after it only contributes 0-9 *10^-n, where n is the nth digit after the dot.
      Just assuming worst case scenario where all the digits are 9s. 9*10^-n is clearly unable to increase in value, because 0.1 < 1/9, and thus no digit is able to excced its place value.
      Thus, 0
