- We spend the night in Surat Thani and then go out for thai street food. We end the evening at a 100 year old patongko restaurant.
Hi my name is Lilly and I am an American expat living on the island of Koh Samui in the gulf of Thailand for the last 8 years. My husband is Thai and his name is Wat. We have 2 half Thai, half American boys named Luke and Leon. Nam is our Nanny and she is like family to us. She is from Myanmar and has worked for us for over 5 years.
Wat and I have owned several businesses together on Maenam walking street in Koh Samui. Right now our restaurant Lilikoi Bistro is closed but we will let you know when we reopen.

My wife is Brazilian, we have one daughter who is born in Manila, I am Vietnamese/American and we have been living overseas for the past 20 years. I am hoping to retired in Vietnam and take my wife around Saigon. We loved Thailand very much, almost want to live there as my second home. Watching your videos makes me miss living in Asia. I have a few more years to go then will be able to live anywhere we want. Love your easy going videos, very relaxing sitting on the couch after dinner makes me miss my home very much. I love everything Thailand, we used to go there annually for vacation. Hope the Pandemic will soon be over so we can travel again. GBY.
We are American expats, currently in Mexico. We moved to Malaysia in 2019 and then got caught up in Covid while travelling and locked down in Spain. We are currently in Mexico and waiting for borders to open so we can go back to SE Asia, but now we are thinking about going back to Thailand instead of Malaysia--we have always loved Thailand and after the pandemic, not so sure we want to return to Malaysia.. I just found your you tube channel--love watching it and it makes me want to go back to Thailand even more. It makes me so happy to watch your videos and see your story!
Where would you like to stay in Samui or phangan..
Not sure at this point. We have never visited the islands of Thailand, other than Phuket, We spent 2 months in Chiang Mai, and really liked it, Of course, we cannot come now--maybe at the end of he year things might open up, who knows? As I sit here in Los Angeles, waiting to get back home (Khon Kaen), I would like to make a few comments on your channel:
1. Thank you for showing the REAL Thailand! My wife and I are sitting here ENJOYING all the videos that you've posted, and it's reminding us of home. To see you and your family, out and about, is something special!
2. While we have a Thai Town here in Los Angeles, there are some authentic food places that serve Isaan food, but the food markets are the real deal in Thailand.
3. THANK YOU for incorporating THAI music in your videos! So many Thai places we visit here would add to the overall ambiance by just incorporating Thai music. I don't want to eat Thai food while listening to "pop" music. So, a big thank you for this!
A lot of people visit Thailand for various reasons, but this is possibly the REALEST view you'll get to living in Thailand. Thank you, keep up the good work, and all the best to you and your family!

I'll be sure to check this out. I've a Thai friend who recently moved back to Surat Thani to start over, after having to shut down his very nice restaurant in Khaolak -- a restaurant that he built from the ground-up in just the last couple years.
He's downscaled quite a bit -- mostly just selling roti, etc. while trying rebuild some sort of viable business -- his move back to Surat (his home town) was largely so that he could better cater to the local residents while tourist industry was tanked.
A very brave and resilient entrepreneur... amazingly positive in the face of adversity.
I'll be visiting him on my way back to Samui (Maenam), so I'll be sure to check this out.
Me and my wife is avid follower of your video channel. We are missing your new video for last two weeks ! Thailand is our favorite holiday locations. We visit to Thailand once in every two years if not every year. We liked Koh samui so much that, we visited Koh samui in our last two trips to Thailand. Stayed at Samui resotel@ chaweng and Beach Republic @lamai beach. We returned from Thailand in January, 2019 just before the covid lock down. Since then we are watching your video channel regularly
Night market is part of Thai culture. If any of u didn’t went to any Thailand night market equally mean u haven’t been to Thailand. I simply love Wat shyness and Luke now speak more and more of English 🥰🥰

Hi, Lilly, you're so lucky to be living in Koh Samui which is like a paradise for the rich tourists and eating all the delicious Thai food every day! I'm a half-American & half-Thai guy who grew up in Bangkok and very familiar with most of the Thai dishes around but I would never eat fermented fish papaya salad or splash copious amounts of nam pla prik over my meals or ingest anything like pig's blood, livers, kidneys, frogs, snakes, etc. These put me off but Thai people love those kinds of foods!!

That "Pa Tong Go" shop that you went was the most famous in Surat. I like the place but it could take a while to wait for the table during peak time.

The green pandan flavour gel like is called kaya in Malaysia. It is made from coconut milk, eggs and sugar. Flavour can natural, brown and padan flavour green. It is best eaten with toasted bread + butter + kaya.. and sip with black coffee ( from grounded beans). You will be in Cloud 99. lol
In thai it’s called “Sang Kaya” quite close to kaya though

Lian Tai coffee shop (เลี่ยนไถ่ปาท่องโก๋เตาถ่าน) is my favorite too. Lyon is super cute.
The pandan spread like in the plastic container is call KAYA in Singapore/Malaysia. It's eaten with bread and is an all time favourite spread.
We love pandan so much.. yeayy kaya spread..that's our normal bread 🍞 spread as SEA people
