    I love the fact that your demos aren't about showing off your gear as people like Phillip Mcknight do. It's all affordable stuff. I try to tell people all the time, "Sound is in your hands, not your wallet". Thanks for keeping it real.

      So true, but wouldn't you agree that let's say the mid-priced gear, which is not the high end/go on bankrupcy thing would get out of your way and actually help you a little bit, so you feel more inspired and ready to rip it up?

      Yeah... I'm kinda over "new" gear, having found a pretty happy place with the likes of MXR, EHX, TC, DigiTech... Would I like a modulation pedal by Walrus? Yes! But more thrilling is finding great inexpensive gear. I think I may just get the Joyo for my second "high" gain board. I need a TS to tighten up the high gain from my Ibanez s series into the berhinger vintage tube monster!!

    I own one of these pedals and was fortunate enough to test it against an original Ibanez pedal and it's damn hard to tell which is which without looking. I would gladly recommend this pedal to anyone in the market for a tube screamer.

  • @MrTPF1
    @MrTPF1 Před 5 lety +9

    I liked the sound of this pedal over the TS because it's brighter. You can always use your tone knob on your guitar to cut back the brightness of a bright pedal, but you generally can't make a dark pedal sound brighter unless you do it at your amp and then EVERYTHING sounds a bit too bright.

    I have a Joyo tremolo, compressor, and noise gate, and can't believe how good they are.
    I had a Joyo Chorus, a clone of the 80s Boss mono chorus, and gave it to a friend because he lacked a chorus, and it's excellent.
    Joyo is a game-changer. If I didn't already own both a Tube Screamer and a TC Mojomojo, the Joyo Overdrive would be in my signal chain.

  • @rockandrollmd541
    @rockandrollmd541 Před 6 lety +3

    I recently bought one and am pleased with the tones out of it. I play classic rock and to me it sounds best with a lower gain setting around 10/11 o'clock on the knob. I installed a bass boost dpdt switch; just ran 2 wires from the C10 capacitor to the middle lugs and put a .047 capacitor on the outer lugs. It beefs up my Strat nicely without being muddy, sounds more tube-like. I just revert back to no boost when playing my humbucker-equipped guitars.

    I have this tube screamer, at first I thought it wouldn’t work at first because it wouldn’t make any noise whatsoever when I turned it on, i was using two D’addario premium cables at the time so I just left it collecting dust for a few months until I used a cheap instrument cable that came with my old Dean M10 amp. After using one D’addario premium instrument cable with my old cheap one it worked like a charm, so keep in mind to make sure your cables are compatible with the pedal.

    "I know, it's green, it's an overdrive pedal, and it's kind of a knock-off of an Ibanez Tubescreamer." Yeah, it literally says on the box that it's a Tubescreamer. I'm not kidding. They legitimately wrote that on the box.
    I just got mine today, but my first impression is pretty good. It's a little thicker than my MXR and TC pedals (not sure why that is...), but that's the least of my concerns. I bought it for the sound-to-price ratio, and in that respect, it's one of the best boost-pedals I've ever owned. Also, the battery-hatch is literally the easiest-to-open battery-hatch in any piece of guitar-gear that was made for batteries that I've ever owned, which is a plus, even though I intend to use a PSU...

      The Pro of a peddle board is that you can turn on or off any effect you want without playing with dials and switches. Having to hit a button two or three times to get the same thing with a multi effects pedal can totally screw your timing up. Let a lone what happens when you hit the button to many times. I've heard that removing the string trees improves the tone, on the strings that use them. I didn't notice any change in tuning stability. Not very scientific on my part.

      Bootweak community etc. X'D Credit where due though, it seems more and more China etc are on the market and it's just not possible to match by price. For the most part with a lot of circuit designs, the parts cost is ridiculously low in comparison to the box, pots, jack plugs, etc. Pedals like these are a steal (even moreso taking into account the easy battery compartments and little touches like that). Imo it doesn't make the pedal crappy if the qc is on the ball.

      If you're looking for a budget friendly pedal, the Joyo US Dream is an excellent high gain choice!

      Guitar MAX Thank you kind sir. I am looking for a good distortion pedal. Not fuzz like, but something with enough gain, and yet enough mids and seperation between notes, etc. I have a little 40 watt Pignose 1 x 10 amp that just doesn't have enough gain without playing really loud. I am 56, and came from the turn the tube amp to 11 and use your volume knob for cleans school, but recently have started rethinking all this with health problems, tube amp maintenance, etc. Even moddeling is getting better. I still believe that it is not quite there yet, but I am not a pro touring the world. I play now for fun. Mostly at home, and will do some outdoor gigs for charity, or outdoor biker gigs, etc. So, I don't have to have perfect amps, etc. Anyway, sorry for babbling. 😂
      Thanks again kind sir for the recommendations. Do you know if the Joyo high gain pedal you recommend is a moddeling pedal, or is it analog?
      Best regards.

      It all depends on what kind of sound you want to get out of your guitar. There are so many different pedals that do all sorts of things. Just have a look around and get what you think you are likely to use with the kind of music you are into. If there is a guitarist that makes a cool sound that you'd like to make check out what they are using.

      Harley Benton is actually German, made in Bavaria. In this globalized world anything could be made from anywhere. China actually produces a lot of high end stuff too.

      Joe Paul - agreed. I own two Fender Modern Player stratocasters. Fender stopped making them, even though they continue to make teles. I called up Fender and asked why no more strats? The answer was "Because the quality of craftsmanship of the strats was too close to that of the Fender American made strats. So, Fender closed down that section of the factory in China. The telecasters are not as well made as the MIM or MIA, but the strats are." Those were the words of the Fender Customer support guy a few years ago. Word to the wise, if anyone encounters a Modern Player Strat for sale, buy it. Unfortunately, so few people know this, that the resale value is that of a Chinese made guitar. So, buy it for keeps.

    Could you fire up the M-1000 please. There really aren't any quality reviews. I know they do one sound brilliantly but I have also heard they can be quite diverse if a good player is prepared to spend the time. However, I do understand that LJ amps often only work with the power tubes cooking and that's probably not possible in your apartment.
