    @israelking3029 Před 6 lety +4

    They really are very close. For most of the samples I preferred the Joyo pedal. It sounded more articulate and had a better response in the mid range to my ears. It's important if you're trying to cut through the mix in a four or five piece band. It's no surprise to me that the Joyo pedal performed so well. I own a few and they all sound amazing. Besides at one fifth the price it's really a no brainer. Joyo is the way to go IMO.

  • @Shmalentine
    @Shmalentine Před 3 lety +4

    This is how every comparison video should be - blind! Awesome stuff! Thank you! Joyo for me all day. I actually immediately knew which one was which - from other comparison videos I knew the Ibanez sounds smoother and the Joyo has more edge. I definitely prefer edge. :)))
    An even more fun thing to do would be to switch which pedal is A or B for each music bit. This way we would have to rely entirely on our ears to see which one we prefer in the context of each setting/music.

  • @andreacaccese
    @andreacaccese Před 6 lety +6

    I might be wrong, but the Joyo is a copy of the 808 rather than the TS9 - I think this might account for the main difference in sound (to my ears, the Ibanez has a bit of a low mid bump compared to the joyo)

    • @ald7248

    Don't forget you're hearing playback via MP3 not wav so we're losing a lot of the quality sound with the compression. The differences between the quality of the effects that the Ibanez provides may be lost in translation.

    I could tell immediately that B was the tube screamer by it’s thinner, quieter tone. Imo for my style of playing, the joyo blows the TS clean out of the water and sounds a world better. The TS was probably super impressive, back in 1983.

    Joyo make good pedal efects at low cost. Some people say that are trash but i've been using a Dyna Compressor and a Vitange Phaser for about a year and didnt have any problem, buuut these pedals are'nt clones, the Phaser is not like a Phase 90 or a Small Stone and the Dyna Compressor is'nt a clone of the MXR Dyna Comp. The Vintage Phaser plus my Deluxe Big Muff Pi make a awesone couple! Add the Dyna Compressor and you get a nasty infinite sustain.

    I'm listening with a quality laptop PC with great sound, through a quality pair of headphones. There is no comparison, Sample A is consistently better, it has more clarity, is not as muddy. Joyo wins by a mile. Great comparison by the way, one of the best I have seen.

  • @heavymetal11
    @heavymetal11 Před 2 lety

    I did a video recording via phone camera on my revv g3 which has some random bad connections which result in lower output. The differences is obvious when u heard it thru live, but thru the recording the differences is minimum.
    If one is after better quality tone, especially at home.The differences became more obvious when u used the original one on a quality tube amp and a noise reduction room.
    But if one use it for gig or jam, i think no one would pay attention to the differences when the singer screams and the drum rolled.
    Depends on your need. Today budget pedals are just bang for the bucks.

  • @holyronin
    @holyronin Před 7 lety +3

    When you were setting them up, did you match the gain level by ear or use the knob positions? I much preferred the sound of A but I suspect it might be because it was set to higher gain

    • @NicoBellisarioMusic
      @NicoBellisarioMusic  Před 7 lety +3

      Hey William! Both pedals were set identically as shown in the graphics. It seems to me as well, especially on lower gain settings that the Joyo has more gain but at full blast they seem almost the same. It also seems to me that the joyo has a fatter voicing while the tubescreamer has a bit more "sophisticated" voice, especially on single notes

    • @holyronin
      @holyronin Před 7 lety +3

      The sound differences could also have been caused by the difference in pots due to tolerances and taper. For a closer comparison in future videos I'd suggest using one pedal as a reference and tweaking the other by ear to have a simular level of gain and treble. That way you can be more sure what you are hearing are differences in the circuit as opposed to the variations in components.
      Love the playing will be keeping an eye out for the next one

OD pedal demos really require a strat neck for demos to hear nuance. Think cranked BFSR. The baseline for tone samples. Anything else is a waste of my time.

    The Joyo won, hands down. To me, anyway. It just sounded more "alive"

    Well, I'll be damned. I've been playing with a Tube Screamer for 35 years. I was convinced that I knew which one was the TS. To my surprise, I was wrong. I need to improve my sound. Off to go purchase the Joyo. Sounds much better.

  • @carloschimallisalazar2592

    On some samples...indistinguishable!
    But Joyo takes it!

    At last a video where someone can choose a pedal without the prejudice of brand! I've listened many times the sample and..... I will buy a joyo, although ibanez sounds clearest, because I prefer the dirty sound of it... congratulations for the video

    The single notes give it away. Also I love your inebriated videos!

    Sample A. Joyo. Sounded clearer with a tad more top end.

    Without the boost the Joyo sounded waayyy better but with the boost the Ibanez sounded a tiny bit better
    Joyo overall winner

    I like A a little bit better. It seemed like it had more presence...but for less than $40 you can't go wrong right?

    That was funny. You got that Metal Zone to be so tame. Nice. I own 10 Joyo pedals and find them to be... well i own 10 so...

    The Joyo sounds way better, and I picked it out too. The Joyo is also an 808 clone.

    What amp did you use for this demo?

  • @lobiu

    I have the joyo and i use it every rehearsal. I couldn't tell which one it was. Damn close. Just found the TS a little more bright.
    In the end, it's just different flavors of the same thing, none is really better. Joyo stuff is really impressive.
    By the way, subscribed !

    Definitely Joyo overdrive the best. I love it.

    Gotta say I preferred B, but it was definitely close and I wasn’t at all confident that it was the TS.

    Tube screamer will always be better but like he said, I wouldn't mind using the joyo. It's not like anyone in an audience is gunna tell or care which one you're using. If you wanna save money, go for the joyo and you'll be fine. But if you're a bit richer, get the tube screamer

      Thanks for your input Marcus! The joyos make also for great back up pedals!

    Great review.. I have both and the Tube Screamer is a Robert Keeley modded version. I prefer the Joyo, infront of the US Dream (Purple) Joyo pedal into a Blackstar amp - 80's rock sound.. really great and responsive.

    i liked joyo better maybe because it had a hair more gain- probably though you could dial them in almost identically - thus joyo wins on price
