It was more ironic than that, other Harry and Ginny's children weren't very fond of him despite Albus Severus bonded with him immediately on sight. When Albus was selected into Slytherin, his siblings and childhood friends (Ron's and Hermione's children) were all blaming Scorpius. They also gave Albus cold shoulders and who was the one that supported him the most? Scorpius, kinda ironic for Griffindor being unheroic xenophobic while Slytherin accept the half blood incompetent.
Even more when the time disaster happened, when he came to the future where Cedric became death eater and the world were dominated by the dark wizards, effectively giving him a very high position being Malfoy's son, he didn't want it and immediately find a way to return, braving against the dark world to find his best friend again.
Scorpius is kinder, braver, and more loyal than most Griffindors, he is probably the best depiction of Slytherin you could have had.

I don't think Lucius wanted for Draco to become a Death Eater, at least not by the time Voldemort had formally returned. Not only had he failed to get the Prophecy, but he had also gotten the Diary Horcrux destroyed. He was no longer in the Dark Lord's good graces, and he knew it.
Lucius himself immediately said he was under the Imperius Curse when Voldy first disappeared, and he sold a lot of his dark magic stuff in CoS. Voldemort even stated in GoF that Lucius came to his ressurrection out of fear, rather than loyalty.
I think Lucius initially joined Voldemort either out of fear, like Wormtail, or because he underestimated Voldemort's malice, like Regulus Black.

And there were many other decent slytherins (many added in later works as part of their attempts to patch up the “why does it still exist” plot hole) like Regulus, the wayward Gaunts Rionach (ancestor of the witch who founded Ilvermorny), Ominis and Noctua, Merlin, Professor Sharp, not to mention Albus Potter and Scorpius (the fact that they were good slytherins is one of the few parts of CC I deem canon).

I think part of what makes Draco's character so compelling to audiences is not because he's a good person or even ends up as a good person but rather because his character is a commentary on how a person's upbringing can affect a person negatively and is the primary contributor of prejudice.
And while that prejudice is never fully revoked or redeemed, it doesn't mean that he is incapable of doing acts of good. Both goodness and darkness exists within Draco simultaneously. Which is definitely an interesting and nuanced take, especially for a book series aimed at children.

And we've seen plenty of evidence of a Wizard's influence affect items and places, almost like a Horcrux, but in general. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Salazar Slytherin made sure that his own ambitions and beliefs in a way psychically permeated his House.
