This prcedure should never be done in a spa! An aesthetician is not a medical professional. They're cosmetologists. A chemical peel comes with many risks that a cosmetologist can't handle. It's like a general practitioner (internist) doing a bbl or face-lift, which lawfully they can do, but not specialized schooling to learn all facets required as plastic surgeons. Hence all the botched bbl's, face-lift, botox, etc. People have even died or had horrific permanent results. Always look into medical credentials and ask for references of prior patients. Sanctions and lawsuits aren't always available, or worse yet hopping from state/country to stay ahead of their mayhem. Cost should never be an issue above safety. Just know that a chemical peel is a lengthy process. Consult a good dermatologist. As I stated above, our melanin is magical, but we scar (keloid) easily. Gentle exfoliation and a good skin care regime works wonders. Vaseline is one of the best non comodegenics around. That six to eight weeks of a chemical peel can be used to naturally care for your skin. I'm sixty one and have used the same thing from my hair to my feet. Now, in full disclosure, genetics play a huge role, as does aging, illness and vices. As well as prior care. I used to hate it when my mom would braid my hair and rub me down in Vaseline, sending me to school looking like a fresh minted copper penny. The only thing we bathed with was Octagon soap. That bar of soap lasted over a week in a family of eight. Cost? 59 cents. Pardon my soliloquy.

My advice to anyone don’t get strong Chemicals or strong lasers or fillers at spas or beauty spas or esthetician spas I recommend you go to a board certified dermatologist that has experience on all facial features and colors . Only use the spas and estheticians for facials and other light face stuff but nothing aggressive unless you truly 100% are sure that the spa lady or esthetician knows what they are doing . Otherwise keep it at the dermatologist and save yourself the horror

And specifically go to a Dermatologist who specializes in ethnic and dark skin if you’re olive or melanated…I remember going to a board-certified dermatologist and he was not sensitive to my skin needs after booking & waiting 6 months to see him…He told me “it’s natural for your skin to do that!” Speaking to my hyperpigmentation and sent me home with a medicated body wash for my “kerotosis” he fixated on…
He ignored every concern I raised and requests for treatment (light therapy, retinol, peels) then dismissed me with “Here’s my PA, I have to go finish up my Client’s light therapy”
I’ve had better experiences with estheticians and MD Spas than an derme

💯💯💯 Agree. I go to my dermatologist. I had no peeling, but 3 times a micro needling and two times a laser treatment 3 months after the needling.
That was 4 years ago, and my skin is still good.
Some scars are nearly invisible now, and the skin is over all smooth. Your dermatologist will also tell you which treatment is the best for you. Maybe you don't need a peeling, maybe you are good with only some lasering. He will know the best.

Or you could just use a micropeeling soap everyday you bathe. all over your face and body, like Kojic soap or Placenta soap. micropeeling small flakes only noticable on first few days (depends on how much dead skin you have piled on for years), then after , not even noticable anymore.
Its most asian womens secret to baby smooth and even tone skin , for people with light or darker complexion
