BTS will be remembered in history in a way that most KPOP groups will be forgotten. It’s beyond a formula with them. They became diamonds precisely because they were industry outcasts who found their own way. And most of all, they deeply connected with their fans and demonstrated genuine gratitude.
They were underdogs. But also hardworking, talented, creative & BRAVE. 💜💜💜💜

I so agree with BTS paving the way. Boracity did her thing. When they got to the part of groups that didn't like them I said let me get my glass bottle to chew on. There always has to be a starting point for everything in life and BTS was the starting point.

Legend never say they are legend(except john legend lol). Bts never bragged they ‘paved’ the way so other artist follow. Instead the always said because of other artist’s hard work. What a humble legend they are🥹💜

It seems to me it's (mostly) fans of other groups that disagree that they paved the way - the artists themselves (for the most part) openly acknowledge the contribution BTS have made . It's weird that fans do this even when their favs have no issue. Love Kard , so right. As for BP they just look foolish, as adult independent women they can't even blame their agency

  • @mercedesnadason7199
    @mercedesnadason7199 Před 8 měsíci +37

When I first saw this video I wanted to give BP the benefit of the doubt. Because they never look at the camera and seem awkward and uncomfortable while claiming that they paved the way. I fully believed it was something that their agency makes them say. now that it's been a little bit, I'm less willing to give them the benefit of the doubt about it, but it's still is probably a line that their agency is making them say. Just my .02.
I love your reactions to Boracity's videos and look forward to more of them. Apobangpo 💜

It’s always interesting to watch others (like Boracity Mag)look into and watch the impact BTS has had on the world’s music industry. From their start at debut in 2013 (and their abject poverty from trainee days to 2017-or so), there is no doubt that BTS took the building blocks that Generations 1 and 2 had laid out and worked so hard into making it a walkable path. It’s always a heartbreak when other groups and companies disregard what BTS has done. Thanks for sharing this and your own reactions to it. And, YES, I agree - BTS Paved the Way - no matter what anyone says! 💜

Thanks to BTS i'm more open to lisent to other artis ( i've always lisented to music in different languages before) and now i know what type of music i like, now i know why i never liked many popular artis, they were to shallow for me.
BTS has introduced me to new music and less known artis that i actually like.
I've lisented kpop for more than 10ys but at sone point got bored and stoped then BTS got me into it again, at first i thought they were just another kpop group with the same formula i've seen many times but they surprised me. I also remember having lisented to BP but didn't catch my attention they were just a typical kpop group to me a copy of 2NE1 and BigBang with better visuals, but BB actually produce their own music. So i wasn't interested, i think those girls that claim they paved the way are more models than singers.

YesSsss! That is a HUGE point, the fact that they don't write or produce their own music! Makes you wonder how much/if BP creative input they have into their albums, etc. (I know next to nothing about them). When I was learning about BTS I was surprised at how hands on they are every step of the way. I have been wondering, (with the rumors and all), how much input the girls have in what they say, wear, and post.
I would think by now they are experienced enough, and mature enough to understand, and acknowledge others achievements.

@@rafaelsmith5737I wonder why you are saying this because their b- sides have more views and streams than most of the group’s tittle tracks . They have 116 songs with more than 100M streams ,which mostly includes their b-sides while most of the groups don’t even have 10 songs with the same amount of views and streams . The reason y bts albums / music have been loved is because their entire discography is top notch . The most request song by armys for bts to sing live is louder than bombs , the most streamed song of their debut album is their b-side track . They might not be as huge as tt since armys tends to more focus on tts,but the bsides are definitely more popular than most of the group’s tittle tracks for sure .and I aint even gonna talk about their solo works since they now hold every solo records held by soloist or even beating some groups records lol.

Are you sure BTS B-sides are popular?
      You kidding right?
In the fandom, it is indeed the case
But when I say "popularity" I meant outside of BTS and Kpop Industry
Do you seriously think it's popular in the masses?
If I'm part of the general public, I'm pretty sure the only thing I'll ever hear from BTS
Is Dynamite, Butter, Permission to Dance
Then Fake Love and Idol, Boy with Luv
      Anyways
You think I'll ever hear Butterfly, Louder than Bombs, Paradise, House of Cards being played in the streets?
      Or any public space??
My answer is NOPE. Cause if I have heard any of BTS B-sides song back then, I would have been their fan since long ago.
The fact that I've only recently become a fan just shows BTS songs aren't popular enough.

Thank you for this! I love how Hobi is in your thumbnail 😘
That being said, this is very thought provoking, no? Thank God, that while the haters nit-pick, and look for any reason, no matter how small (ahem), to tear down or downplay what BTS has accomplished, our Boys remain humble and do not follow others examples. I'm coming away from this, thinking that there are, at least two separate things here: 1)BTS's influences (in this case the Korean Artists), which they themselves acknowledge graciously (let's not forget Epik High, although I don't know what generation they are), without those influences, BTS wouldn't be the artists they are. 2) All of the many groundbreaking things that BTS did, like their social media presence, creating an unique relationship with fans, and putting so much of themselves into every bit of the creative process, on top of the diplomatic roles, and so many other benefits for their culture, country, and other Korean artists.
They never cease to amaze me. I wish I had found them sooner, but so grateful that I did. I love Boracity's videos💙🩷🖤❤️💛💚💜

I think kpop groups in general acknowledge this, it's just the fans who are delusional. If fans just support their own faves without bringing BTS down, every group will find success in their own way. And I believe also that these idols should always encourage their fans to be positive and just good people, as we all know all fandoms, and I mean all fandoms have bad apples that make this fangirling or fanboying just not fun anymore. BTS paved the way and it's not a big of a deal to admit it really.

I saw an argument on tiktok the other day by fans from another group saying their group paved the way. I'm actually trying very hard not to ask what the group do for the fans to claim that. Since it's just a statement without any receipts or explanation, I close one eye and let it passed. They can be delulu all they want.
I agree when boracity said that paving the way doesn't mean they are the best. There maybe others but please do not discredit what they do. Btw, they are the best for me 😁.
People might argue wait till you listen to this group...till now I haven't find that group that can surpass them. I do give other group or singers a chance but normally their music doesn't suit my taste. It's not something I wanna hear over and over again. It's just my own preference, doesn't mean they are not good. Just listen to what you like, it's that simple. Top artist come and go and now is BTS time. They may be replaced in the future (or maybe not😅) and since this is their time, give them respect they deserved.

I think you misunderstood what boracity said on the 2nd generation paved the way part. She didn't say in anyway that generation helped BTS, she is saying that generation only contributed as in go to the idol training system to become an idol. There is no "need some failure to achieve success" in what boracity said cause that generation made it difficult for the next generation like BTS to make it to the US. Everything BTS achieved and did are all theres. Nobody including 2nd gen contributed to what they did beside contributing for being in idol training system to become an idol. It's only BTS who paved the way no other idol grp have contribution in what they have achieved in the US. Period.
And I'm not mad or something btw just thought u misunderstood there😅💜.

19:02 you're right you know I think everyone literally everyone is walking on the road that BTS paved. The only Korean artists who have gone a little off the beaten path and are trying to pave their own are DPR, Jackson Wang and The Rose (not jay park, nor any of the other k-hip hop artists and less of k-pop) they took advantage of the hype of the k-pop wave at the time and they do collaborations and/or work to relate but without falling into cynicism like jay park. They try to publicize their artistic work through other platforms such as the "head in the clouds" festival. The Rose is coming to Mexico to the corona capital festival this year 👍 which is definitely nothing k-pop related festival.
And look, it's not hate, I'm Army and also a Moomoo. I wish Mamamoo for example would find a different way, but themselves made it clear that BTS PAVED THE WAY and they are comfortable for walking that path, they prefer to serv in PAVED THE GAY in their own country haha. 💚

Look. Before BTS I didn’t even know where Korea was. Those first an second gen were NON existent to me. Now I’m a grown assed grandmother with dolls, blankets a learn Korean with BTS, conversant in Koreas history and emotionally stronger. Your damn right they paved the way. I don’t care for K-pop. It is mechanical, fad like. It’s I said it. I grew up with 50s music, MJ, Toto, Cindy lauper, BTO, Queen, Led Zeppelin etc…the ORIGINATORS. K-pop is nothing. I have high standards. BTS is unique and real. K-pop is new to s.Korea, (relatively) not the world, we had it for 40 YEARs. Those prev gens……need to sit down, and THANK BTS. Love PSY but please let’s admit it, a one off, a novelty(Vanilla Ice ice baby). 12 years later BTS comes up. TWELVE YEARS!. Those gens are presenting pop to the POP OGs…..and are lacking. 12 years and didnt get world wide. Let’s be real ok? No one prevented K-pop from going world wide, they had all the chance in the world. Jealousy, greed, competition, they want what BTS earned. And are twisting that they didn’t and don’t. Oh well. Hats off to Seo Taiji. He BROUGHT HipHop /western sound to S. Korea . That is his crown, and he presented well. He is S.Ks OG. Deep respect. But again…..remember. West created it, west is the biggest music industry. It is what it is. Now when the world starts rocking out to pansori, then Korea gets a say, ok?

Actually I will respectfully disagree with you about 2nd generation. Yes some did come to America and some did get on American talk shows but for the talk shows they weren’t INVITED because people wanted to see them. From my understanding their company paid the shows/hosts to host them. Also they hurt kpop because it turned more people away then bringing them too kpop. I do think some of it wasn’t their fault, I think the western media made articles and videos etc making kpop seeming complete awful compared to the west for Example: they are more manufactured… so no I didn’t really think in terms of coming to America they didn’t help pave the way…the only thing I would say was PSY might have “made signs” so people know a road it being built, because only really after PSY did people here the world kpop.

I agree with what you and boracity said about 2nd generation but I also wanna remind you of yoongis lyrics in what do you think " Thinking that my success has anything to do with your failure, you're fucking great at being delusional " like I get the points but yoongi thinks otherwise and that's because these idols and labels and media keep saying bts "got lucky it was luck it was due to us failing first" trying to imply bts either don't deserve it or that their hard work wasn't the reason. I think you should reread yoongis diss songs and bts diss songs and apply the lyrics to more than just the underground scene because so many assume bts were only going after nameless haters and underground rappers but a lot of it was other idols too. especially airplane part 2 lyrics, we on lyrics, what do you think and huh? lyrics sorry for ranting I think both can be true but I lean more towards yoongi cause he's yoongi. hope you get my point.

I agree with your points and your interpretation of his lyrics is certainly a valid, valuable interpretation, however I think room should also be made for the interpretational layer that he's saying you're delusional (& have a case of "sour grapes") to say that the reason you aren't successful (as in current groups) is because of BTS's success. (as in, you've got crappy music/performing/etc, so you wouldn't be successful even if we weren't here, and your failure is your own responsibility)

It is really interesting to see this discussion between K-pop fans, mainly because those who don’t like BTS go through a lot of mental gymnastics to come up with senseless arguments to refute the fact that BTS paved the way when accepting it doesn't mean they actually diminish their favorite groups' trajectory and success.
26:00 There is another controversy right now with their new song where they claim to be the ones paving the way (again) and it is interesting to see antis supporting this statement, coming up with ‘interesting’ reasons to support the claims.

Actually part of the problem is that BTS in recent years have rarely been on award shows - the main place to meet other Idols in front of cameras. Not to mention that some of them (members and other Idol friends like Ha Sung Woon for example) are also doing military service.
For example JK met some friends in Busan (?) that are also known Idols (the '97 liners?).
We also recently had a Tiktok with Taemin and Jimin.
There is usually admiration in younger groups - there was a claim that Jimin met a Stray Kids member I think - but interaction is because of scheduls often superficial.
I think Taeyang said something about being friends with Namjoon and getting in contact with jimin that way. There was also an event with G-Dragon to witch both Namjoon and Jimin went with a lot of other stars. We have a few photos.
People forget that Jin is an introvert. But he is also right that people who are not already friends feel uncomfortable because shooter Army tend to call them out for clout chasing even if they don't mean to do that - and the members are also aware that some "peers" are actually trying to do that.

How dare they, especially where I live in the US 99% of non-k-pop fans have ever even heard of you! I hope they were forced to say that by their label, otherwise, don’t embarrass yourself Sweets.

The other thing that i think differentiates BTS from other groups, is that BTS (themselves) actually keep introducing me to new music and artists I was unaware of before, whether it's artists that inspired them growing up, music they are enjoying/inspired by now, or up&coming artists from other genres, indie artists, or artists from around the world that they are discovering/respect. Tell me who else is doing that? They PROMOTE & encourage our exploration of other artists from all kinds of methodologies & cultures. Talk about "paving the way".
There's also a difference between "blazing a trail" and "paving the way". 1st and 2nd generations did blaze a trail, but as BoraCity said, when they didn't advance their popularity from their forays into Western markets it made it harder for others to even imagine that path was possible. The trail they made might as well have been labeled "Here be Dragons". Meanwhile, those trail-blazers who were interviewed with interviewers trying to give them credit for paving the way for BTS, were getting the opportunity to be interviewed (after so many years), AFTER BTS was having success, paving the way in Western markets, and creating interest in other Kpop performers. Trail blazers KNEW who paved the way for them.

you can support bts without bringing women down, girl groups do a lot for kpop and I guarantee you it ain’t because of men

saying bts paved the way isn't putting gg down lololololol
i'm sure many gg did things for kpop but they didn't make it easier to get recognition in the american and global industry like bts did and that's fine
you can be a good artist without paving the way
a majority of popular artists don't pave the way and that's okay

Lol what are u even saying? Paving the way isnt about gender. Saying bts paved the way is not a jab at women. Btw, those women didnt even write their songs, they are in that position bc of men. Get a hold of yourself.

If I am right the gg u definitely talking about is bp because of that part involved in the video and as much as hurtful it is ,you know they get their songs from their teddy oppa who is a dude right ?if teddy dont gives them songs ,they would still be partying and be full time insta models right . And like what does gender even have anything to do with paving the way . Like can blinks ever be logical for once .

      Cool.
      Do you have recipts?
      Because the West doesn't care.
They say K-pop and mean boy AND girlgroups and even solo acts. The gender is uninteresting.
Nevermind that acts like BP have very little to do with the creation of their music (some - but not much).
So yes, those acts have now a chance because of BTS success and often the men around them (those are mainly men - at least untill recently) that lead their career, their music, promotion and performances.
It's a simple (maybe unfortunate) fact: boygroups were first and were first successfull.
But maybe the girlgroups will now make their impact known. They have done some interesting stuff in the last 2 to 3 years.
