  • Emma Raducanu has become the first British woman in 44 years to win a Grand Slam women's singles title.
The 18-year-old overpowered Leylah Fernandez, a 19-year-old from Canada - winning 6-4 6-3 in the US Open final.
It is an extraordinary achievement for Raducanu who didn't drop a set during the entire tournament.

Emma is much taller and Leyla's lack of height is an important disadvantage in tennis. @@jameswalker6864 That’s also a great memory! For me comparing two great performances which were very different than my comment…Sharapova turned pro at 14 though. She also dropped several sets during the tournament. Serena was a 2 time winner but didn’t have the record she has now. My comment is that this journey, this tournament, not dropping any sets is nothing I’ve seen before. Truly a spectacular moment.
